Quick Look

Picture the impeccable Audi TT but better and you will get the TTS. It’s basically the sportier, more expensive version of the coupe, which, if you like quality, is the one to watch out for.

Full Review

Like the Audi TT, the TTS model is due for a refreshment and generation upgrade in 2016, but don’t use that as a reason not to check out the TTS. The 2015 Audi TTS is still a great vehicle that retains the same style you get in the TT, while ramping up the power. This is a perfect car for fun driving and everyday rides (assuming you don’t have too many people to carry along). The TTS is available as a “four-passenger” coupe and two-seat convertible. No matter which you choose, you’ll likely fit in only one other passenger. This luxury compact car is in a tough segment, with competition such as the Porsche Boxster and BMW 4-Series, but the TTS holds its own, offering unique features you won’t find in the other cars.

At a glance, the exterior of the TTS looks very similar to the TT. It has the same distinct appearance that can’t be confused for another car on the road. The dramatically curved roofline highlights the unique styling of this roadster.  Upon closer look though, you can what makes the TTS special. Larger wheels with performance tires and adaptive xenon headlights are just some of the differences you’ll get in the TTS. The TTS convertible also comes with a fully powered multilayer soft top that folds compactly into the trunk without compromising cargo space.

The interior of the 2015 Audi TTS is nothing short of what you would expect from any Audi vehicle. This automaker has made a name for itself building some of the best cabins in any car segment. The materials that are used are top-notch and the attention to detail is unrivaled. As for space, the coupe model claims to be a four-passenger car, but that term is tossed around pretty lightly. Realistically, both the coupe and the convertible – which actually is a two-seater – can only fit a driver and one other passenger. In the coupe, the rear passenger space is better used for additional cargo. Speaking of cargo space, both models actually have relatively ample space at 13.1 cubic feet, even with the top down on the convertible. The seats that are functional are very comfortable and supportive for spirited driving or long trips.

As for features in the TTS, the cabin is very similar to what you would get in the TT. Technology functions are mostly the same with the inclusion of the Multi Media Interface (MMI).  Standard across the board the MMI infotainment system puts all of the information and entertainment capabilities in one interface. Features include Bluetooth audio, satellite radio and navigation is optional. The system is relatively easy to use, but isn’t quite up to the standards set by competing systems, such as COMAND or iDrive. A major flaw with the system is the control knob for the navigation, which can be awkward to use.

A great feature in the convertible is the fully power-operated soft-top roof. While it may not be as flashy as some of the competition’s hard-top options, the soft-top is a lot more functional. When down, the roof stores perfectly into the rear of the vehicle, without compromising any trunk space.

Under the hood of the TTS is where this car really comes to life. The standard, and only, powertrain includes a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 265 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The transmission is a quick-shifting six-speed automated manual sending power to all four wheels.

Overall, the 2015 Audi TTS is a great optional upgrade from the TT. Unfortunately, with the upgrade, the price also rises quite a bit, giving the car a new segment of competition. Nonetheless, Audi has built a very capable car that is sure to put a smile on the face of any driver.

Interiors and Special Features:

Like other Audis, the 2015 TTS offers an interior that blends clean, modern design with top-quality materials. One change, however, is that its available two-tone interior option is not being offered this year.

In general, gauges and controls are well laid out and straightforward to operate. The one exception is the optional navigation system's dash-mounted control knob, a placement that makes it awkward to use. Both coupe and convertible models are remarkably quiet inside, the latter surprisingly so thanks to a multilayer soft top with a glass rear window that can be lowered in about 15 seconds with the push of a button.
