Quick Look

The 2015 Audi S7 delivers style and power in one of the neatest packages to ever grace the car market. This four-door coupe doesn't just deliver an excellent V8 engine that can produce 420 horsepower, which is expected from an "S" model, but also quite a bit of cargo space. In fact, the vehicle offers18.9 cubic feet of room with the rear seats up and 49.1 cubic feet with them folded.

Full Review

The 2015 Audi S7 is essentially the high-performance version of the Audi A7 four-door coupe, which means that the two look very similar, but their performance outputs are vastly different. What's peculiar about these vehicles is that their sporty, coupe-like look actually fits with the S7's high-performance nature a whole lot better than it does with the A7. Just think of the S7 as the more attractive and elegant version of the Audi A6 sedan and you should get the picture.

The exterior design of the 2015 S7 combines style with practicality by delivering what looks like the rear cargo area of a hatchback. The new model has also received a few updates for this year. You will notice the redesigned Singleframe grille, with the rounded corners being replaced by sharp angles. This allows the S7 to assume a more aggressive stance, while also matching the front design with the rest of the vehicle. You might also notice that the front bumper has reshaped air intakes on the outer edges and a one-piece lower lip. The LED headlights now have narrower inner portions, while the innermost angles are the opposite of what they were in the last year’s model. As an option, you can get the Matrix LED headlight along with front dynamic turn signals. Finally, new five-spoke wheels replace the twin-five-spoke wheels on the previous model, allowing the S7 to look sportier.

On the inside, the Audi S7 boasts a few small changes as well. A new pistol-grip-style gearshift knob replaces last year’s T-handle, while a new horizontal-lined insert runs along the dash, continuing down the door panels and down the centre console. On the subtler side of things, the CD player's upper part is now silver. As options, you can get materials like an aluminum and Beaufort walnut inlay as well as Valcona leather. You can also get more interior colour options since now there are five of them instead of three. Since this is an Audi, the automaker's trademark MMI infotainment system makes an appearance too – albeit with a few upgrades. First of all, it's now powered by an Nvidia graphics processor, and secondly, it now also features Internet connectivity via LTE.

Front seats are highly-adjustable and well-bolstered, but the rear seats are a little on the tighter due to restricted legroom and headroom, which stems for the S7's coupe-like design. That being said, the cargo area is relatively large since it offers18.9 cubic feet of space with the rear seats up and 49.1 cubic feet with them folded.

Under the hood, the S7 has a 420-horsepower twin-turbo V8 that's connected to a seven-speed S tronic transmission with steering-wheel paddle-shifters. It takes less than 4.9 seconds for this four-door to accelerate to 97 km/h. It also comes with the adaptive air suspension, which has sport tuning, special wheels and upgraded brakes.

Overall, the 2015 Audi S7 does exactly what an Audi coupe should do – deliver excellent design and performance at the expense of rear passenger space. Despite the latter, the vehicle does come with a large cargo area, which makes up for nearly all the faults. We highly recommend giving this coupe a look.

Power and Performance:

To appeal to those more forgiving enthusiasts, there's the S7, which gets a 420-hp twin-turbo V-8, combined with a seven-speed S tronic transmission and steering-wheel paddle-shifters. It's capable of getting to 60 mph in less than 4.9 seconds, and it includes the adaptive air suspension, with sport tuning, special wheels, and upgraded brakes.

Interiors and Special Features:

The interior received small changes to go along with the exterior refresh. The most obvious of the aesthetic changes include a new pistol-grip-style gearshift knob in place of last year’s T-handle and a new horizontal-lined insert that runs the width of the dash, partway down the door panels and down the center console. Both of these changes feel like a step backward, in my opinion, but maybe Audi’s research showed that these are good changes. A more subtle change is the silver upper section of the CD player.

Safety features:

Due to its high price and low sales volume, the A7 hasn't been crash-tested by the agencies that evaluate vehicle safety. However, its long list of standard and available safety features earn it high marks in our book.

Available on the A7 and S7 is a special night vision assistant can highlight objects, people, or animals ahead in yellow or red, and give audible warnings, based on thermal imaging technology. The corner-view system added to the A7's options list for the 2013 model year is now included in the Driver Assistance package, an option on all models.
