Quick Look

The 2016 Land Rover LR4 is exactly how you would picture a crossover from the future. It has the lights, build and colour scheme that make a car look futuristic. Being the next model from the new and renamed Discovery, the LR4 is a bit larger, but still can be stuffy inside.

Full Review

The new Land Rover LR4 seems to resemble the Range Rover Evoque, boasting a similarly astonishing design. If you could close your eyes and picture a futuristic crossover, chances are it would resemble the new 2016 LR4. Land Rover has done an amazing job on the details, the overall shape and the powertrain.

The LR4’s similarities to the Evoque come from its thin and sleek headlights that connect at the crossover’s rectangular, cage-like grille right underneath the name of the vehicle, LR4. The headlights are, of course, powered by LED lights, and the grille is complemented by the small Land Rover logo off to the side. Land Rover is clearly aiming for a tough yet luxurious look with this model, which is particularly evident in the colours that JLR has carefully picked for this vehicle as well as the fog lights (when lit). The rear view of the crossover maintains the rich and handsome look all around the vehicle. The taillights are circular and look almost like robotic eyes, endowing the vehicle with a more unique look. Land Rover also used the rear to show off the name of the model by attaching it to the space between the cargo window and the licence plate.

Clean, sleek, luxurious and handsome are only some of the words that can describe the LR4’s cabin. However, it’s not without its flaws as the third row of seats is lacking legroom, while the cargo area is barely there. By folding the third row, you can definitely squeeze more out of the vehicle. Other than that, the seats are very rich in material and comfortable, giving the driver and passengers a great experience on the road overall. The centre console includes an infotainment system, with functions that are easy to use and understand. The ignition is keyless, which gives the vehicle a techy edge over some of the other lines Land Rover has released. The Land Rover logo on the steering wheel looks simple yet elegant, and the wheel itself is a bit larger than you’d expect, making the interior feel more “traditional.”

Under the hood, Land Rover offers two engines – a 3.0-litre V6 and a 5.0-litre V8. The engines can be connected either to a six-speed manual gearbox or an eight-speed automatic transmission. The car’s fuel efficiency has also been improved.

With amazing looks both inside and out, a very powerful engine, improved fuel efficiency and a reasonable price, the new 2016 Land Rover LR4 is a crossover drivers cannot say no to.
