Quick Look

Land Rover’s new 2016 Range Rover is exactly how you would picture a crossover from the future. It has the lights, build, and colour scheme that make a car look futuristic.

Full Review

The new 2016 Land Rover Range Rover looks and is designed absolutely astonishingly. If you could close your eyes and picture a futuristic crossover, chances are it would resemble the new 2016 Range Rover. Land Rover has done an amazing job on details around the entire car, the overall shape and build, and the powertrain they installed with this crossover.

The new 2016 Land Rover Range Rover looks like there is no bad angle of the exterior build and designs. As we can see from the build, this model very much resembles the Range Rover Evoque. The similarities come from the thin and sleek headlights that come together from the rectangular, caged looking grille right underneath the name of the vehicle, Range Rover. The headlights are of course powered by LED lights, and the grille is complemented by the small Land Rover logo off to the side of it. Land Rover looks like they are going for a tough and luxurious look with this model. We can see that with the colours they decided to release with the model. We can also see they designed fog lights which seem to look like they will really add to the luxurious designs when lit. As we take a look at the rear view of the crossover, we can see they did an incredible job of maintaining the rich and handsome look all around the vehicle. The tail lights are circular and look almost like robotic eyes giving it a more unique look to it. Land Rover also used the rear to show off the name of the model by having it attached to the space between the cargo window and licence plate.

The look of the interior is almost reflected perfectly of what the exterior shows. Clean, sleek, luxurious, and handsome designs done all over the interior of the new 2016 Land Rover Range Rover. The seats are very rich in material and comfortable, giving the driver and passengers a great experience on the road overall. The centre console includes an infotainment system, with functions all around easy to use and understand. The ignition starter is also keyless giving it the techy edge over some of the other lines Land Rover has released. Also taking a look at the steering wheel, with the Land Rover logo so simple and elegant, the wheel seems so much larger than other wheels making the interior look a lot more classic.

Under the hood we can see Land Rover is using a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine which will be able to push 254 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque. In terms of fuel efficiency, it will require about 8.4 litres to drive 100 kilometres on the highway. This number is pretty good compared to other luxury crossovers it is competing against.

With amazing looks both inside and out, a very powerful engine, improvements done to the fuel efficiency, and projected to be at a reasonable price, the new 2016 Land Rover Range Rover is a crossover drivers cannot say not to. The features on it will be revolutionary to the luxury crossover market.

Power and Performance:

The 2016 Range Rover Sport will offer a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel engine, in addition to its current gasoline V6 and V8 options. The new diesel is rated at 254 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque. The diesel engine's grunt peaks at just 1,750 rpm, which should deliver impressive low-end thrust on initial acceleration, during tricky off-road maneuvers, or when towing a large load.

Land Rover hasn't announced whether the new diesel improves the SUV's maximum tow rating of 7,716 pounds, but it will put the "range" in Range Rover, as Land Rover says the new diesel is capable of traveling 658 miles on a single tank.

Interiors and Special Features:

With much of its appearance reflecting that of its smaller and larger siblings, the Range Rover Sport is nonetheless both original and inspiring. Clean lines and a wide, aggressive stance give it a definite sense of purpose—one of both SUV potential and sporty driving demeanor.

A floated roof, chunky but unobtrusive grille, blacked-out pillars, and a sleek, smooth surface all around give the Range Rover Sport is family resemblance. The roof’s dynamic slope, a stubby nose, and tall sides speak of the “Sport” appellation in addition to the Land Rover and Range Rover heritage. Fender and hood vents give the Sport a further edge.

Safety features:

The 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Sport hasn’t been crash tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), a common occurrence for expensive, low-volume vehicles. We base our score on its SUV body style, aircraft-like construction methods, and safety features.

High-tech safety abounds in the 2016 Range Rover Sport: a surround-camera system, parking/proximity sensors, lane-departure warning, parking assist (for both perpendicular and parallel spots), and automatic high-beam are all included. A full suite of airbags, plus stability control (including roll control, corner brake control, and trailer sway control) are also standard.
