Great experience purchasing a vehicle from Saint John Volkswagen. From the moment I pulled into the parking lot with my old car, until I drove off the lot in my new car they were extremely friendly and helpful. I had all my questions answered, they respected my budget an preferences and didn’t force me into getting anything I didn’t want.

My personal impression is they “bait & switch” their used cars. Several of the nicer cars on their web site are long gone. I won’t write a novel here about my contact experiences a couple times over the last 3 months. Check it out yourself. Pick some cars on their dealer site that have a green summer background. Ask if you can see some of those. If you’re told it just got sold then ask for sale date. I say Caveat Emptor.

Deceivers. When buying a used car, they put photos of another car (the same but with better equipment). I made an appointment with them, told them that I was not from St. John. I came to them 170 km from home, to which they replied that this was the manager's mistake. For this, it is necessary to deprive the license of the entire car dealership.

Round two with this dealership. Again it’s a one star review because no stars isn’t an option.

I brought my Volkswagen Passat in for a simple job after an ECM replacement. After it being in the shop and multiple phone calls with the service advisors, the only person who seemed to know what was going on was the shop foreman who called me for more information about the car. I picked it back up today and payed a bill for labour on a car they couldn’t fix…. The dealership was unable to repair their own brand and I’m left with a car I can’t drive. That is what I’m taking away from this experience.

Avoid this dealership at all costs. If they spent more time to learn their product instead of being on TikTok, maybe this review would have a different ring to it.

The absolute worst dealership ive had to use. No one ever answers the phone in service. Only 1 person apparently knows how to even book a car in for a service appointment. Over 4g for my car to have BRAKES done, all 4 sides "pads and rotors" plus 1 rear caliper and a front strut. I needed pads and front strut the rotors and caliper were fine. Brought it to another shop they did everything for 500 parts included. Its a shame the cars are awesome because dealing with service desk made me never want another car from them.

Alex was such a great salesman and I appreciated his honesty and commitment to finding just what I needed. Jessica in finance always does a fantastic job and offers great financial advice aside from car buying. I’ve also had great experiences with service, especially Shauna. When I bought a Golf elsewhere and found out it was sold completely broken, everyone took such amazing care of me and it wasn’t even their faulty car. Lied to me about the carfax being clean. Found out 5 months later from another dealership that there was almost 5 grand of damage done to the car. After some back and forth they agreed to honour the autotrader blue book cake and even offered to do a paper trade should i find another vehicle at another dealership. Until i actually found another vehicle and they wouldnt honour their word anymore.
Have been actively turning friends, family, and coworkers away from Saint John volkswagen.

Worst service for parts request i've ever experienced at any dealership. Now going on 6 months to determine a part number for a Rear Defog wire. I went the entire winter without a rear defog and now they are telling me that it requires service hours just to tell me what parts i need for a missing wire.

The city of Saint John got the best of me. I was in the city visiting family when I drove through a puddle as big as a pond and dented my rim. I called up SJVW and asked for a new rim for my Golf. They got me in quick within a few hours and hooked me up with a brand new steel wheel. Very prompt and courteous service. They even hooked me up with some colourful VW keychains.

I bought a brand new 40k car from them and it had a leaking sunroof... their response was "well we don't build the cars, we just sell them" ??

When I told them I would need a loaner car it was like I asked them for the moon. I just bought a 40k car from them!

I got a loaner car and eventually and got my car back. I thought I had left a set of keys and sunglasses in the center console of the loaner car I called them to see if they were in the car. Their response "No the detailers always go over the loaners when they get back and they would have brought those to us" I asked if she could go look and she said she was busy so I took her word for it.

I assumed I lost the keys and sunglasses and ended up going across the province to get another set of keys (4 different locations).

My cars sunroof was starting to leak again so I needed to bring it back for the third time (the first time they had installed trim for the lower tier model, they blamed VW for sending the wrong parts, I think they ordered the wrong parts).

They gave me the same loaner car.. guess what was in the center console? My keys that I thought I lost and drove across the province to replace. Oddly enough my sunglasses were not there.

I try to give people the benefit of the doubt but this place really makes that difficult.

I drive to Fredericton VW for all my service.

Absolute liars! Drove 4 hours and was promised that they had multiple cars that matched the specifications I was looking for AVAILABLE on the lot. I got there and there was nothing! Terrible sales tactics!
If you ever choose to shop for a vehicle here, and are not local, make sure to ask for pictures with the date! Otherwise be prepared to have your time wasted and get shaken down.

Brought in my 2012 VW Golf Wagon for MVI, was told that it needed new front pads & rotors or it would fail MVI. Brought the car to another mechanic who replaced the pads, said the rotors were fine. The second mechanic showed me how the rotors did not need to be replaced for MVI. Third mechanic concurred, and read the motor vehicle standard for rotors, which mine met (without replacement required). VW Dealership refused to refund my MVI cost, or take any ownership. Dealership is using MVI process to force unneeded repairs.

Bought a second hand one and took it for paint and corrosion warranty which after a lot of arguing finally got it done after1 year, thanks to preferred auto and Frank , the great guy that runs it . Bought a battery from them and one year later it kicked out and we told them about it with receipt and they wanted to test it at our charge . We told them never mind we will buy a new one somewhere else. They wouldn't even help us at all after a 13 month battery quit.. Thank goodness we never bought the vehicle from them . Had checked the new ones when we were looking and so thankful we didn't as are not happy with dealership . They need a big shake up and soon...
