Bought a used car for 26k all said and done and it broke within a month. I had it repaired under the extended warranty plan I bought. It broke again, same problem 2 days later. I told Northstar Hyundai about the issue of it not starting 3 times in 1 week, and told them I think they sold me a defective vehicle and I want them to take it back. It also had issued with the CD player overheating, which they said isnt a safety issue so even if it was sold to me broken they cant help me.
They would not exchange my vehicle like advertised on their website but they would buy my defective vehicle back as a trade in for a new 2020 Hyundai. They had me. I was completely at their disposal, a helpless consumer stuck with a defective purchase. I had no idea if my car would start when I needed it, they know I am out tens of thousands of dollars and they are my only hope for any resolution that wouldn't financially cripple me.
I walked away buying a new 2020 vehicle worth $26,000 and I'm paying $33,000 for it. They had charges for whenever they wanted to charge me... $500 block heater fee, $500 for etching fee, plus whatever they felt like giving me for my trade in. They said the most they will take my original car back for is $16500. I tried to negotiate anything extra into the deal and told them i dont want to pay all those extra charges... they said no. Then I gave them a referral code for their go auto referral bonus and they said it doesnt apply because now I'm a 2nd time buyer. According to their website 2nd time buyers get $500 self referral bonus off the car, I asked for this and they said no. They had a $500 winter tire credit offer, they said no. I was completely at their mercy.
Today I am the owner of a new car with a sticker price of $26,000 car that has a $33,000 loan on it. I feel financially violated and taken advantage of. I am so angry and sad and disappointed in myself. I am grateful they took it back on trade as legally they didn't have to. They stole $7,000 from me and I thanked them.
Went to buy a new vehicle, the one they told me was available has over 100 km more on the odometer then what they told me. Tried to sell me another more expensive model. Deal was ok, but I ended up paying $2000 more.
We have had some issues with our remote car starter not working properly. After a serious phone call, we came in and Scott L solved /corrected the car starter issue immediately, as well, gave us future remedies. Compassion and listening to clients should be a prerequisite and Scott showed this and solved our issue with the remote starter. Thank you.

I purchased my car on October 31, 2014 and am happy to report that I still love my car. My salesperson Illya was very good as well as the service department when I purchased winter tires. Hoping to have 20+ years of enjoyment with my Hyundia Sonata Sport like my previous car. From the heated steering wheel, heated seats and back-up camera to the warning systems it makes for a very pleasant ride. Roomy back seating and the sunroof are also a joy to have. Although I had gone to another Hyundia dealership before Northstar and had taken a test drive of two vehicles I eventually went to Northstar due to a lower quote. The only thing I do wish they had was a spare tire, I was given a air pump instead which I hope I will never have to use, I can't see doing this on a busy road even though I would still have to change the tire.
Sales: Due to bad experiences with vehicle salesmen in the past, I'm now very opinionated when it comes to buying a vehicle. I know what I want and I don't back down. The salesmen I dealt with here were very courteous and understanding of my past experiences. I was on the fence about my purchase because I was sure that what I was being told was fast talk to get me to sign. Guess what? What they said would happen with my credit rating actually happened! I was blown away. Visit Northstar Hyundai if you've had a bad experience in the past. They will change the way you feel about the car purchase experience.
Parts and Service: Shelly was amazing. Very friendly and helpful with advice beyond what her role requires. I can always tell the difference between sincere kindness and kindness because a person has to. Shelly is sincerely kind. She deserves a raise, just a little FYI. Good people like her will keep customers happy and returning.
Highly recommend this place for your vehicle purchase. Chatan is awesome professional staff. Very friendly, very patient to answer my all concerns, even it is silly. We dealt with Ryan L in sales and he was great. He is exceptionally patient and follows up promptly with any questions or concerns with his Manager.

Stay away from this dealership!! They dont fallow through on their word!! We were given wrong vehicle and were good about it. Honestly I wish I would of just left it there and gone somewhere else. If I could return it I would. The only good thing i can say is the finance lady was so pleasant to deal with.
Chetan was great. Very friendly and took the time to show us all the features and options every step of the way. Michael in finance was super helpful. He talked us through everything he was doing and made things transparent. Overall the whole buying experience was great.
After sharing my experience I received a call from the Service Manager. He was very concerned about my treatment through the sales department and wanted to help. He listened to me, reviewed the documents and asked how he can make it right. He followed through on his word and helped me get back money that was owed to me.
I would highly recommend their service department for service, parts, repairs or maintenance.
I think the Sales department of dealerships forget how someone's car is their life line. It's how I am able to provide for my family, pay my mortgage, get food and visit friends and family. A new or newish vehicle is the third biggest purchase of my life: Mortgage, College, Car. We are dealing with years of expensive payments or hard earned savings that have a massive impact on every aspect of my life.
I had a negative experience buying a car from Northstar Hyundai. But once the right person got involved, they finally made it right. Which is a really really good sign for a business. I highly recommend their service department.
I have been using this location for as much routine maintenance as I can, although I live out of town. They are always very thorough, and once even sent me a video of the underside of my car! Great work, and even better customer service!
Zero stars if I could! I called yesterday booked an apt with service, go to drop the car off and there is "no record of it in their system", didn't offer to fit me in and gave a quote a couple extra hundred dollars more than I was told on the phone while booking the apt. Also, when booking the service apt - I was told the part was in stock- how much it was and the total cost including labor because it was a fairly simple job. Now I have wasted my whole morning going down there only to have this happen. I would AVOID this location at all costs. I usually deal with another location - but thought I would try these guys as the location was a bit more convenient.
DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM. Deposits mean nothing to them. Respect and good business mean nothing to them. We had a deposit on a vehicle in good faith but we live in Calgary and due to stormy weather were not able to make it for 2 days. We were NEVER told that our hold was too long. We arranged a day to come when weather was better AND even sent a lical relative to show our interest. They called today and insisted we take our deposit back because they were selling it from under us. They could have waited till 10 the next morning to honor our hold but they chose quick cash. I even offered a larger deposit and they said no. Don't waste your time here.

I have been to this dealership several times for car work. They have been amazing every time. The first time I went, both of my brake lights went out at the same time, and no other Hyundai dealership would get my car in to replace them. The advisor I talked to at Northstar told me to come up and they would make sure to make time for me car. I was in and out in half an hour. Each time I have been, the service gets better. I would highly recommend this dealership.

The texting was ideal when communicating and the technician video was amazing. It definitely helps to build trust in the inspection. I would say that had I known I needed to get the Elantra sport with the 8” touch screen to get the wireless charging and app command start I would have at least thought of it but no one asked if I wanted to figure the price difference on that vs the 7” touch screen and no option for app controller command start.
That would be my only regret is that I’d signed the paperwork and took ownership before knowing that there was one with those 2 other features. Otherwise a very positive experience
Neil was great to deal with; he was very thorough on ensuring all information in their system was up to date, giving me a timeline of when I could expect to hear from him, and completing my service request correctly. He followed through on everything we discussed over a phone call and was more than accommodating and pleasant on the phone. Would definitely recommend Neil to anyone!
First time using Northstar Hyundai service and dropped my vehicle off first thing in the morning. I was greeted by Cole (service advisor) who was professional during our interaction. The process was quick and told me he would update me via text messages.
I then received a video of the technician completing his visual inspection of my vehicle. My vehicle had couple recall which didn’t take too long and needed couple filters.
Cole texted me and was responsive when I replied back. He offered a complimentary wash and vacuum for my vehicle. After said and done the vehicle was picked up. A day later I received one follow up email about their service and “survey reminder”. Shortly after I received a follow up phone call asking if I wanted to fill out a survey which I said it was fine, I received an email about that.
I didn’t expect another survey reminder the day after again. How many reminders do I need to fill out a survey. It felt like an involuntary survey. Everything was good up until the survey reminders.
A knowledgeable Service Advisor makes the service experience a good one. Scott displayed those attributes of a well informed car guy. The technician providing a video of his vehicle inspection which Scott then interpreted, was a great idea.

Overall experience when I took my car in for a service was really good. The staff were friendly, they were prompt, they explained what they were going to do (I had some product improvement campaign items). Unfortunately there is not any shuttle service available on Saturdays, but I decided the day, so I waited around in the lobby and read a book. They had a comfortable lobby with coffee/water/tv and the service person was available via text if I needed anything. Afterward they made several recommendations (no pressure to book though) and some warranty items that are time sensitive if I wanted to book in. I appreciated that. So overall it was really good.
Scheduling an appointment was easy, when I attended the service centre I was immediately welcomed and looked after. The process was easy and seamless. I received a call earlier than expected that my vehicle was ready. It was washed and easy to locate when I arrived. Excellent service all around.

I recently purchased a 2019 Kona from Northstar Hyundai. Carlos was absolutely awesome. He sincerely cared about getting me the perfect vehicle. His positive attitude and winning personality sealed the deal. From start to finish the experience was exceptional. Everyone at the dealership was friendly and knowledgeable.
Jaime was great; he explained all the recommendations made after my 99 point inspection, and helped me figure out the priorities vs. my budget. I appreciated getting the estimates and photos throughout the process and felt it helped me make informed decisions. 5 stars - would go again.
Very thorough with the repair on torque converter, and at same time found transfer case leaking. I was given a loaner vehicle which made things very convenient. Jamie kept me informed the whole time from start to finish. I appreciated the follow up with him.
They do not follow the Hyundai Canada recommended maintenance schedule (they have their own service levels, for example they have a "Service 4" which doesn't exist in the Hyundai Canada maintenance schedule in which the highest service level is 3) and charge over 50% more for the higher level services compared to other dealerships in the Edmonton area. The service manager said that their servicing is way better than what any other dealership offers which is why they charge more and they would not price match. We purchased our vehicle here and did do our servicing here but switched to another dealership for our servicing needs where they follow the Hyundai Canada recommended maintenance schedule.
Friendly staff, especially salesperson Adam whom I dealt with for this latest purchase. He always has a smile and has lots of personality. He listened to what I wanted and didn't try to sell me more or something else. I have been purchasing vehicles from this dealership since 2001. Love the service and sales experience thus far!
Overall I had a good experience at Northstar Hyundai. The service was friendly and efficient. For the most part, I felt like I was treated fairly and had a better experience than other dealers I’ve gone to in the past which is why I purchased my vehicle there and not somewhere else. My requests were handled promptly and fairly - and I did my best to be fair to the dealer. Frankly the people were nice to deal with and I’d come back because of that. I didn’t feel pressured or taken advantage of.
I had an issue with a battery - but it was resolved by the dealership. It caused me a lot of stress but a resolution was brought to the table and I left satisfied.
Once again, I can only stress how awesome Ali has been through the whole process. He texted me when he found out about my battery issue and resolved the issue for me. My family and friends have all said they're impressed with how HE handled everything and would likely go to him when they're ready to make a purchase of their own.
Scott has always done a "Great job" of explaining what work is going to be done. He always makes sure we understand everything before and after the work is preformed. The bill is always gone over with us when picking up the vehicle plus any questions we have are answered and explained to our satisfaction. We are very happy with Scott and the service staff and Northstar.

The staff at the service department at Northstar Hyundai is always incredible. As a woman, I have never felt belittled or otherwise taken advantage of. They always explain what they are doing and when they have recommendations for further maintenance, they explain why it's necessary but also don't push for me to get it done immediately. I have complete trust in them and I recommend them to everyone.
Perfect service from beginning to end. Service Agent (Cole) was knowledgeable, efficient, and professional. Work was completed at a record pace and my vehicle returned clean and looking better than at drop off. No hidden surprises. Very pleased and satisfied with the courtesy extended at every level.

The customer service reps are friendly and courteous, so all in all these guys get a thumbs up from me. I do wish there was a little more transparency about the services I am paying good money for. Their website seems to have added more explanations about the services, but it has gotten pretty confusing on which services I need without needing to reference the car manual.
I bought my current vehicle here and have had nothing but a positive experience with both the sale and the service of my vehicle. Easy to make or alter appointments, service is prompt and thorough. Would definitely recommend to buy or service a vehicle here! (although if you buy a vehicle here contact me so I can give you my go auto number! :D )

I went into Northstar Hyundai looking for a used SUV for the family. Instantly through the door I was greeted and handed off to Sam Horne. Sam was very friendly and easy to get a long with. He made me feel very comfortable through the entire searching and test driving process.
Unfortunately a price couldn't be agreed upon and I ended up walking from a vehicle le that I like. I would still however recommend this location and Sam in particular in the future.

Northstar Hyundai provided a thorough job of giving my vehicle maintenance service work. I had one special request and it was handled efficiently and properly. I appreciated having the shuttle driver dropping me off at home and picking me up to return me to the shop to pick up my vehicle when the work was completed.

Despite the rush of any vehicles in the shop before a holiday break everyone did their utmost to get everyone out on the road on schedule feeling well satisfied with their service.
John the shuttle drive and Scott the service writer were both personable and accommodating.

My servicing representative kept me well informed throughout the day as to what they found for my vehicle and suggestions of priorities. I have loved all three vehicles. The Customer Service is superior to any other car dealership I have dealt with.
Never have I been disappointed. If I’ve waited for my vehicle while it was being serviced, delicious free coffee and bottled bottle are available.
A big screen TV and comfortable lounge area are at one’s disposal while waiting.

Absolutely yhe worst experience ever. Give downpayment jump all there hoops. Pick out your vehicle get approved for financing then get screwed around for 5 days only to find out they sold my vehicle. Call to inform me 5 minutes before the dealership closes so when call to talk to a manager nobody answers. An absolute joke of a buisness. See you court

After experiencing many dealers, Northstar Hyundai is a good alternative to the others. When my car was being serviced, the sales people were really kind and I believe it has to do with Go Auto fixed commission. I've had a negative experience at Kingsway Toyota but Hyundai buyers can happily go to Northstar for service without sales persons pushing you to buy.

I rarely write reviews, but in this case fair is fair. My wife and I really wanted a Santa Fe but were really unsure what trim level we wanted. We went to 3 other Hyundai dealers which I will not even talk about here because they do not deserve the time. Instead of sitting us down and asking us what we wanted we felt pushed and felt that the sales reps were only out for a quick sale. We may have been a little picky, but we needed someone to listen to our needs. With hesitation we walked into NorthStar Hyundai and were promptly greeted by a nice young man named Illya. Right away we felt comfortable with him because he was patient, kind, and really cared about our wants and needs. After he showed us all the trim level packages we felt that we finally found the trim level we wanted/needed. We did a quick test drive and then it was time for the price negotiation. We told him what we thought was a fair price, he went and got it for us. It was so much easier to buy from him than any other experience we ever had at a dealership. He introduced us to the service manager, Mike King who did an exceptional job explaining the service expectations and the oil change package which we bought. We are so happy with our purchase and wanted to let everyone who reads this know that if you want to buy a Hyundai go to NorthStar Hyundai, do your research, and make an appointment with Illya. Words just can't say enough. We love our Santa Fe. Thank you soo much !! I never thought buying a vehicle would be so exciting.

Although things got off to a rocky start with the service department over a winter tire issue on a 2012 Sonata, Sale Manager Matthew Ryan truly showed professionalism and leadership and deescalated the situation, and did the right thing by standing behind the Hyundai name. He went above and beyond in looking after us and turned what could have been a bad experience into a great experience. I would definitely deal with Northstar again given the professional attitude of the management staff, especially Matthew Ryan. Great customer service Matthew!
Cory Rines was my salesperson and he understood what I was looking for, plus he was patient with me. We spent three days trying to find the perfect car for me and he would have gone to pick up any car I would have liked to test drive. I dealt with a few other salesperson at other dealerships and Cory treated me the best out of all of them. Always asking if I need something to drink and having great conversations on the test drive. He shows that he cares about his customers!
I know my best friend is going to be looking for a used car in the future and I passed Cory's business card to my best friend and told him I would deal with Cory because he will go out of his way to help.
If I need to buy a car again or have anyone of my friends or family that needs a car I would gladly reference them to Cory. I wouldn't have want to deal with any other salesperson.
