Would like to preface this by saying the sales team I dealt with was good, my issues are with the severely lacking used car inspection they performed and with the finance manager that sold me the extended warranty.

Background:
It was time to trade in the rx8 r3 for a baby hauler and traded it in towards a BMW 550 Gran Turismo. The sales department was truly fantastic to deal with and I was pleased with every aspect of that portion of the transaction.

Mazda had done an inspection on the car which came out clean and the one item that required to be addressed was fixed accordingly by a BMW specialist which Mazda footed the bill for. I took their inspection at face value and as an added precaution also bought an extended warranty through them at a cost of approximately $5,000 which was costly at the time but it was a comprehensive plan and I was assured it was the best coverage I could get for my vehicle. Signed on all the dotted lines and brought my new to me BMW home.

Soon after things went south for me. The finance manager never explained that the warranty was capped on the value of the vehicle. While this may seem reasonable, the way the deal was structured was that they maximized my trade in value which helped me with additional GST credit but then lowered the value of the vehicle drastically which was then reflected in said warranty. Therefore, unbeknownst to me at the time, my $5k warranty was capped at only a maximum of $14k in claims. Had this been made clear to me I would have opted out of the warranty then and there or atleast restructured the warranty package. Who pays $5000 in insurance for net coverage of $9,000?!

Shortly after purchasing the vehicle, realized it was burning excessive oil (over a quart in less than a 1000km). I figured I had purchased a very expensive warranty so would be covered. In under under a year the car has been to a very reputable BMW specialist on multiple occassions to address the oil leak and oil consumption problem aswas as other issues (control arm issues, panoramic shade stopped working). On top of paying for the warranty, I've had to shell out in excess of another $5,000 trying to address these engine issues while having put less than 5000km on the vehicle as the car has been out of commission for extended periods of time. The warranty has been capped out. I've had no recourse or assistance from the dealership. The new finance manager was a gentleman and looked into things for me but there was nothing he could do.

Lessons learned and caveat emptor:

1. Do not trust their mechanics to conduct a thorough pre purchase inspection. Especially on used cars that are of non-mazda makes. The car I bought was represented as being mechanically sound but early into my ownership I found out the hard way that it was not. I recommend getting a comprehensive PPI done at another mechanic for any used car you purchase from them.

2. If you want an extended warranty, don't buy one from them. If you do, ensure the finance manager walks you through all the mechanics of said warranty in detail and make sure you read the fine print so you fully understand how the warranty works. Don't trust them implicitly to be fully transparent.

3. This dealership won't stand by their used cars - I would not recommend them for any used car purchases. There are other instances if you peruse the negative reviews of cases where used cars that were represented to be mechanically sound had thousands of dollars of repairs being required post sale.

Horrible experience. Purchased an older used Honda and after 60 days, it requires major repairs. Requested Stoney Trail Mazda for a resolution and they have ignored my requests and didn't take any ownership of the faulty car. I recognized older vehicles may require some minor repairs, but this was over $6,000 of repairs required. No acceptance of responsibility. I would rate a ZERO if I could.

Unfortunately, I have to share my recent bad experience with booking a service appointment.

I requested the service (winter tires + oil change) appointment twice using the online booking tool. I prefer email/SMS communication, which I noted on the online form.
As way too often, nobody contacted me in 2 weeks.
Therefore, I left general complain on Stoney Trail Mazda site.
A lady called back in a very short time, stating she is following up on the online request. She offered an appointment in 2 weeks from now. I asked, if she can fit me in sooner, as I wait already 2 weeks for the appointment, but she did not have any other choices for me. Her overall behavior was cold and slightly arrogant. She did not apologized, just behaved like there was no complain and she is responding to the online request.
Because booking a service appointment is continuously difficult and slow, I am seriously considering to switch the service provider (after almost 7 years) despite the fact we never had an issue with the work done, the dealership or the shuttle drivers.

This is the first Mazda store I've ever visited as I am in the market to purchase my first car. I wanted to share with all the first time car buyers with my very honest opinion and experience that I encountered with this dealership. I was in the market for a compact hatch so I had my eye on the 2019 Mazda 3 GT AWD. I was welcomed by the sales staff and sales manager for a test drive. After hour of negotiation, I was offered by the sales manager a great discount at the new vehicle! They looked very sincere of earning my business and honest by showing me all the papers for all the charges. He stated multiple times that they’re giving me the best deal in the market and only making a small amount of profit. I valued their honesty by putting down a deposit on the vehicle and waited for the car to arrive. Few days later, I had another friend who’s also in the market for a new car and he took me to an alternative Mazda dealership. I was shocked as there was a significant price difference. My first reaction was that, there must be some misunderstanding. As the vehicle i had deposit arrived at the Stoney dealership, I decided to have a look and have a chat with the Sales Manager hoping for a reasonable explanation. Parked beside my deposit vehicle was another white Mazda 3 that also just arrived. It had “SOLD” sticker on the windshield and later I’ve found out that vehicle was never sold and was their strategy of showing me how high in demand the vehicles is. They informed me that if i withdraw my deposit they will have no problem finding another buyer. Once again, their strategy of pressuring me into make a decision on the spot. Overall, my 2nd visit wasn’t too pleasant. I discovered that the discount they originally offered was added back through all sorts of add-on program charges. Manager is only willing to slightly decrease the price but not willing to remove all the additional charges that we never discussed about. (I understand fees like PDI and freight are standard but I am referring to fee such as Security, Tire, and Nitro etc). My final decision was to cancel my deposit. On my 3rd visit to the dealership for my deposit, I've tried to greet and wave at the sales staff and manger but they ignored me completely. (Sold sticker also removed on the white Mazda) I do understand and believe some customer might really enjoyed doing business at this dealership and Stoney must have other managers who are very nice and honest to do business with. However, I never expected my first Mazda dealership experience can be this terrible.

I had previously posted quite a negative post about Stoney trail Mazda. I will admit I was not pleased with the service I had received from the dealership. There were some extenuating circumstances that led to many mix ups leaving me unimpressed and very dissatisfied. However, I expressed my discontent to Bobby, the manager at the dealership (He unfortunately was on vacation during our ordeal with the dealership) and he has bent over backwards to ensure our experience has been positive since. After reading some negative reviews about this Mazda dealership I decided it was important to post about my experience.

My wife and I went in and worked with Arjun. I am a very slow decision maker and he spent almost an hour with us on the test drive and explaining features of the car to me, which for me is what I need. To allow me time to think about it I then booked an appointment for the next week. I then came back and bought (leased) the car and I absolutely love it. They picked me up in the shuttle and were very friendly and willing about it.

About a week down the line I then decided that we really should have got more KM, as we are first time leasers. After a friend who is in car sales said they probably couldn't do anything for me at this point, I called Joe the financial guy. He said he would have to draw up a whole new contract but that if I would come back in he would make that happen. I also wanted to get the windows tinted and they only booked me ahead 2 days.

In summary. Arjun and Joe the two I worked with were very friendly knowledgable and I just generally liked them. Since I have had the car they have still been willing to help me and give me good service. I would highly recommend these two and Stoney Trail Mazda.

Having visited several other dealerships when comparing competeing models, I found Stoney Trail Mazda to be the least pushy and most relaxed when showing me their vehicles. This allowed me to take my time to assess the vehcile and how it suited my needs and not feel pressured or being sold on all the nick nacks of the cars, which they all have. The negotiating process was painless and efficient, not to say you should not do your homework. Also, the sales pitches for add-ons (extended warrenties, undercoating and so on) were more informative than pressure sales. To me, this is a more honest approach to selling these extras.

My Wife and I have had 7 Mazda's and we just bought our 8th. This is the second car we have bought from Stoney Trail Mazda, and loved the experience. The salesman was amazing in helping us find the car we loved, and his passion for the vehicles really shone through in his words. The pick up of the car was comprehensive and well explained. The vehicle itself is an amazing car, and we would never buy outside of Mazda. The cars are very reliable.

Over all Stoney Trail Mazda did an amazing job, and is more than worth taking a look at if you want a Mazda.
