While looking for a new car as a graduation gift for my daughter, we went to Open Road Mazda in Port Moody. Our salesperson, Brian, was super helpful and not pushy. My daughter decided on the CX-5 Signature Series, and my husband and I went in the following Saturday to discuss. Brian was polite, answered all questions, and we were happy with the price. Took my daughter in to pick up her car, and we were thrilled to find it "wrapped" in a black sheet with a big red bow on it! Brian really went above and beyond with explaining the features, connecting her phone, etc. Loved the special effort and presentation of our daughter's first new car. We went car shopping at Open Road Mazda last Saturday to look for a new vehicle.
We were greeted by Matt Paterson, who made us feel comfortable at the showroom and he showed us around and guided us through the available cars there.
I must say that this was my best car shopping experience ever. Matt was very informative and he was answering very question of ours patiently despite the fact that our English leaves much to e desired especially in using cars features related vocabulary.

Matt delivers an incredible service and gives a very pleasant experience.
We will be coming to your showroom for the years ahead.

We did a bunch of research online and was leaning towards the CX30 but once Matt went over the car technical characteristics and car features and then after we did a test drive there was no doubt.

This is the first Mazda we have ever driven after Volvo CX 90 and Subary Forester and we absolutely love it!

This SUV loaded with accessories is fuel efficient, and it is very comfortable to drive.I highly recommend the Mazda if you're looking for an SUV and you don't want a huge behemoth, this is the car to buy.
Well styled, ergonomic interior and breath taking exterior, quiet, amazing sound system and more than enough power to get me where we want to go. We're extremely happy and each drive makes us love it more.

We will be coming to this showroom for the years ahead.

I have gotten my car serviced by them several times in the past, but over time things started to slip through the crack. My car was towed down there and i expected to have the car the following week. The customer service were super nice, efficient, and got the job done and i was on my way, same day service, awesome.

I started to do some research and noticed the part is under warranty, and ask for a reimbursement on the part, but was given instructions to call the warranty center myself (they also did not have me under their new system, so my warranty did not show up, which is odd as i have the hard copy sitting in my car). After an hours of talking to the agent at the warranty center and openroad mazda service counter, i am still forced to file my own claim. To my knowledge, i thought the dealership were supposed to deal with these issues and follow certain protocol before preforming the task at hand.

The agent opened my engine cover and noticed the wires to the spark plug has been ripped. He told me to just use electrical tape and everything will be fine. No offence, but i think i just voided my warranty by doing that. After countless emails and phones, i am now in limbo. One says this, the other says that.

Frustrating, overpriced, have to do a lot of things yourself in order to get things done and they lost my file for extended warranty at their dealership.

After bringing my Mazda to a different automotive shop, I was advised to visit the service center at OpenRoad Mazda. I booked an inspection, and upon completion of the appointment, I was given a couple possible solutions to the problem. One of them had been ruled out at the other automotive shop earlier that day. When I questioned the mechanic on it, he said he hadn’t actually tested it and if that wasn’t the issue, I would need to go forward with both repairs, as completing one without the other didn’t make sense. Despite no testing being done, I paid the inspection fee.

Going into the repair, I had a small crack on my windshield. When I received my car back, the crack had quadrupled in size. When I informed them of this, they said that they hadn’t noticed. However, they had driven my car in and out of the shop and it is hard to miss. I emailed the manager expressing my concerns regarding the entire service visit. He told me that the cracked windshield could have spread for a number of reasons, such as my car being placed on the hoist or the temperature difference inside and outside of the shop. He acknowledged that his response did not help my situation, and told me that this is just the nature of car repairs.

My car has been exposed to both of these situations numerous times since the crack first appeared and it has not spread until this visit. I have been informed by a different automotive shop that it would have taken a lot more than the manager’s suggested reasons for a crack to spread as mine has.

If a car leaves a shop in worse condition than when it enters, there is an issue. I emailed the manager back explaining all of this, and again requesting he resolve this issue. After over a week, I have not received a response.

Thanks to my service advisor for being polite and friendly, the facilities are very new and nice, booking and getting admitted was a breeze. That’s where my positive experience ends.
Firstly when I signed the work order it said change oil with 0/20w synthetic. I told Marie it was a turbo and it required 5/30w. She said she will change it to turbo? This vehicle was purchased at this dealership, how could that be mistaken from the VIN number? Luckily I caught it or I would have the wrong oil installed.
I seen the service on your website for a synthetic oil change was $69.95 so I asked for that when I made the appointment on the phone. I also made it clear to Marie I wanted the oil and filter change only. When I went to pay My bill said $104.05. That was $20 more than I expected after seeing the website price. I paid and then would ask the service manager about this misleading/false advertisement they have posted on their website. It took several calls to him to finally talk with him about this. He did leave me a message saying it was more because it was “ special oil “. Really, it’s all synthetic. When I finally talked to him I told him other dealerships near me don’t charge extra, he came up with “I buy the 0/20 by the truck and the 5/30 by the barrel”, and he guessed other dealerships likely absorb the cost. He basically didn’t want to make it right with me about this, so I thanked him and ended the conversation.
This is my second CX5 purchased from this dealership and I have had mostly a positive experience, but going forward I have no choice but to cease all contact with this dealership, including sales and service.
I have also sent this to the area general manager and the service email at open road Port Moody, no reply from them at all.
I also sent this to Mazda Canada and they apologized for the situation I encountered.

My car was sent into this shop for servicing on Dec 4 and told Amy (Service Adviser) that the heater seat is not working and I have a extended warranty. After the servicing, she told me the heater seat needs replacement and a diagnostic fee was charged on that without informing me beforehand, and she needs to verify if the warranty cover the heater seat. If so, they will refund me the diagnostic charges. OK, I paid for the fee and she said would call me back the following week to let me know if the warranty covers the heater seat. I phoned back to this shop several times after more than a week and finally got hold of Amy on a Saturday and she said the warranty officer had not got back to her yet and would call me back on Monday (Dec 16). Not to my surprise, she didn't call me back on Monday and I waited patiently till Friday and tried to call her but her co-worker said she was busy and so I left my phone number for her to call me back. To my disappointment again, no one call back. I felt that this service center doesn't care about its customer. I just want someone from this shop to call me back and tell me if the extended warranty covers this part. Is it that difficult?

I would not recommend this place for buying a used car. I felt as if Brian did not want our business. He was not overly friendly, he lied about how long the car had been on the lot for and he was not willing to negotiate the vehicle price or documentation fee whatsoever. I was super disappointed leaving this dealership and will not return. I do not recommend anybody go to this dealership to look at their used car inventory. And since going on their website, my YouTube ads are now of Brian talking about Mazda cars. Not ideal.

Matt was excellent with the whole process of purchasing a car from beginning to end, I would highly recommend him! Overall a great experience and the dealership is also very comfortable, with a nice lounge and layout.

UPDATE: After 2 months of owning the car, I have had the strut mounts (1 week after buying the car) and transmission motor mount (2 months after buying the car) fail and need replacing. This added up to $1000 in repairs. After being told the car is a “10/10 car” and passed multi-point inspection with “flying colours”, I’m extremely disappointed. Matt was still great though so I don’t blame him!

Service: March Pong helped me in dealing with a headlight issue. It took them less than an hour to figure the issue and was charged lesser than what I expected. Before seeing March I went to diffrent dealerships close to my place and was quoted more and wanted straight up full diag fee. He is a good listener and honest.

Now that they have the bugs out of their new computer systems, their service and their front staff have dramatically improved. Any repairs are clarified as to why they are needed and they go out of their way to ensure you understand what needs to be done or what can be postponed until later.

The parts department has been exemplary in finding parts and accessories for current and older model vehicles.

The driver who gives lifts to those whose vehicles are going to be serviced for a long time, is very friendly and chatty. He is always pleasant.

They also email remainders of appointments which I like. There are only two things that I dont like; the TV with the news channel in the waiting room is always on mute - I wish it wasn't. And second, because they are often busy, it is sometimes hard to reach a person to call to see how the repairs are going.

But aside from that, the service department is well run; the facilities are clean; and the staff are friendly and kind. Easily recommended.

What a positive experience we had with Brian at Open Road. I've never met another salesperson who knew as much about his product than he. His passion for his craft was obvious.

He met all the criteria for a perfect purchase transaction. No pressure, and education-based approach to selling. He knew all his competitors products, and was able to point out the advantages to his without slagging the competition. Very professional.

When I came to pick up my vehicle, he went through all the features and details again. He set all my radio station presets and linked my phone also.

The financing experience with Daniel was also clean and quick, as was lining up insurance with Rosa.

My husband and I just recently leased a 2014 Mazda 3 from OpenRoad Mazda. The car is fantastic. However, what we wanted to comment on was the service we received.
