Autotrader inquiry turned into nightmare.

Saw a pre-owned SUV listed for 41,888 on Autotrader, after reviewing the ad I decided to email this dealership to get more info and come see the car.

I received an email response from one of the "Relationship Managers" David who set up and appointment for me to come meet him after work later that week, this is where everything starts to go downhill.

The next day I went back to review the ad on Autotrader and to my surprise the price of the car has spiked up to 47,000 with no real explanation as to why.
I promptly emailed David back in bewilderment trying to get an answer to this change, first he told me "I believe that is a typo we have been having some issues with our website lately", (what does having issues with their company website have to do with Autotraders website?), so in a nutshell that excuse did not seem to have any merit.

Then he proceeds to tell me in another email the reason for the price increase is because "My managers have decided to offer 0% for 48 Months on our Pre-Owned Units" this explanation really was concerning to me as this demonstrates that this dealership purposely skews the prices to rip off their customers. If you really do the numbers this 0% for 48months is not a deal at all, in fact the old price of 41k with standard interest nets you a better saving.
Anyways he emails me back and mentions that he has spoken to his "manager" who will honor the initial price, and urged me to come and visit them. Now against my better judgement I talked myself to go visit them (biggest mistake and waste of time).
I arrived and met with David, he seemed to keep dodging my questions and not really give me a straight answer, he kept side railing the conversation talking about things that are non related, needless to say after about 45 mins in, I have yet to get a straight answer on 1) What the trade in value of my car is 2) What the final price and term of their SUV will be. Oh and most importantly I have not even seen the SUV I came to see. After another 10-15 min

I had a very bad experience with this dealership. Trying to be as respectful as i could, ended up sales person calling me, harassing for my husband's leaving a bad review, yelling, and telling me about karma. thus, i did not know, that leaving a bad review is a legal action. The biggest mistake i could ever make, was coming back to Hyundai for getting a new car, but unfortunately, being a loyal customer, does not mean anything neither to their sales team, nor to the management. If you ever decide to buy a new car, never consider this dealership. All their words and proposals related to the vehicle, has nothing to do with the reality. Be extra cautious, and think twice prior signing any papers, as everything will be used against you.

I'll start off by saying this store recently underwent a overhaul in terms of management and staff. I confirmed that fact when i spoke to the the service manager Mimi and Vice president Adam. My initial experience was very rocky, and i was not pleased with the transition process from pricing to the sale of our vehicle. But i will say that the situation was handled very professionally by our sales rep Emilia.

I'll also note it was very refreshing to see that the sales staff was mostly woman. In a male dominated industry it's a welcoming change. As I mentioned before after a few minor setbacks we finally received our 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe XL. We then brought it in to swap the winter tires, only to find a nail in one of them!

At this point I was very frustrated, I knew the nail was no fault of the dealership but after a long day or two i couldn't help but express my frustration to the service manager and vice president. They quickly sprung into action and searched their suppliers, Kijiji, let go .... you name it, to help us find a replacement tire.

The service manager Mimi also called her husband who works in the industry, and allowed me to house her office until she found a solution. After 3 hours not only did they find me new tires but they gladly gave them to us complimentary!

I own a business myself and often times we hear only of the bad via Google reviews, Facebook reviews etc... but i do feel that when a business does well to fix the issues they caused, their efforts should be celebrated as loudly as the times they fall short.

So give this team the benefit of the doubt as the staff is fairly new, but understand that they are built on a solid foundation with Adam,John, and Mini handling the operation.

Today I went to Thornhill Hyundai to ask for a deposit back. Manager Ting Ying called the police on me because the dealership refuses to return the deposit even though there was no bill of sale. Thornhill Hyundai uses pressure techniques to force you into buying a vehicle by holding your deposit. They will take your deposit upfront without showing you the bill of sale, and by the time you talk to the finance manager the price goes up. They will confuse you with bi-weekly payments even though making it clear that it has to be on a monthly basis, they will trick you with "its the same thing" when its not. John William Welsh is in charge of that dealership. Be aware of Johns' two face. At first he seemed to be a nice guy, but the second he realized you not buying he will turn on you. Dear customers, please do not put a deposit down before seeing the bill of sale and you fully understanding the deal. Do not get pressured into buying. Avoid Phaeton Automotive Group dealerships.

Surfed the net to find a good price at this dealer. Sent an email that was quickly answered by the sales Manager,( Eddie Li ). We discussed numbers over the phone and email.
Numbers sounded good, but wondered if they would change when I went all the way down to the dealership. We went down and where greeted in a friendly and helpful way.

Eddie Li ( Sales Manager ) made time during a busy night to sit and go over everything we spoke, and emailed about. He was transparent, honest but most of all kept his word.

The deal was made Monday night and delivery was set for Saturday. When we picked up the car, Tara Fallah sales rep, went over the paperwork and all the functions of our new car to make sure we were happy.

I have been purchasing cars for over thirty years, and happy to say that this experience was the best I ever had. They did what they said, and said what they did!

No games were played, or back and forth from sales person to manager.

I'm now, an owner of the New Hyundai Palisade.

I will definitely recommend this dealership to my friends.

I called in in advance and inquired about 4 wheel alignment price and was given $119. When I checked in I was given another price of $139 instead. I requested the price given on the phone be honored. The staff respectfully accepted and I am happy for this part. But although the estimated time wat 1 to 1.5 hours it took almost 3 hr. I know the staff and technicians were working well beyond their 7 pm closing time to finish the service jobs but it would be nice to give a better estimate so the customers can plan for their time.

Worst customer service. Davis who dealt with me, kept me waiting, did not look me in the eye and was very abrupt. Witnessed similar treatment with elderly man before me. He called my husband, not me to tell me the car was done. When we got there 1 hour after the initial call he lied saying that he told my husband it would be another 1/2 hr when he called him. Even so we got there an hour later and it still wasn't ready! Rude to me. Waited another 20 min. Can't help but feel some male chauvinism. Perhaps communications coaching or equity training would be helpful but I am not convinced. With the number of negative reviews management might want to take the comments seriously. Some quality improvements needed to help with flow and customer service.

I would definitely not recommend Thornhill Hyundai. The advertising they have for their cars online is, at best, misleading and is just a hook to get you in at any cost. We found a 2019 Tucson - Ultimate on their website that was stated to have 1500km for a price that couldn't be beat - too good to be true. I called them three times to make sure that we would not be driving the 3 hours drive to Toronto for nothing, confirming the pricing and the actual car was on the lot with the actual mileage. The lady even told me that they put 1500 in the system because they don't want people to be upset when they arrive, and see that the car had been used for test drive. She checked in her system and confirmed that the car had 13km and was on the lot. Upon arriving for our 9am appointment - after a 3 hours drive, we were told that the person we were supposed to meet was schedule to work at 1pm that day, and above all, she was driving the actual Tucson that was advertised online. When we sat down to discuss the details, this new salesperson announced to us that the car we had inquired about had 11,000km on it, not 1500km as advertised. What an unprofessional service... Very disappointed in the staff who seemingly do not know very much about their cars. What's even worse is that in the afternoon, they called us to ask us if we were coming to our appointment that day. They seemingly did not even know who we were in the first place when we showed up in the morning, even after giving our names, showing email confirmations. We ended up buying our Tucson somewhere else where we were actually treated like respectable people.

I went in early in the morning for a warranty service on a rear tail light for my 2011 Hyundai Genesis coupe. The tail light had water leaking inside and was fogged up.

Ricco at the service counter was courteous and efficient. He helped me right away. He explained that the repair would most certainly be fixed under warranty no questions asked and no run-around. He took my info and said he would order the part and then call me next week when it was in. I left the dealer only to get a call on my cell phone within 2 minutes of leaving. It was Ricco telling me to come back if I can as he has the part and would love to replace it immediately! I waited for about 1.5 hours and it was fixed without an appointment!

Great experience for first time car buyer

I purchased my first-ever vehicle last week from Luiza at Thornhill Hyundai. The process of buying a car could be really daunting, but Luiza did such a great job of making it a really smooth and easy process. When she found out that I would be taking public transit to the dealership, she offered to pick me up at my home, which is at least a 30 minute drive from the dealership. In the end, we agreed to meet at Finch subway station, which is really close to the dealership. She picked me up and dropped me off there. She was very friendly and genuine, and I could get the sense that she genuinely believed in the quality of the product she was selling. Some of the dealers I encountered when I was test driving cars came across as really sleazy and disingenuous, but Luiza was just enthuasiastic and really nice - it felt like I was just hanging out with a buddy. I had to pick up the car in the evening, and she stayed with me long after the dealership closed to make sure I understand all the features of the car. Since my purchase, she has followed up with me by phone and by email. I was very impressed with my experience from beginning to end, and would strongly recommend this dealership to everyone - and strongly recommend that you do business with Luiza.

Another great visit

I purchased my SanteFe in 2012 from Thornhill Hyundai and have had all of my maintenance services performed by the Thornhill Hyundai service centre and I have never had any problems with my vehicle. Scott and the rest of the staff there are always professional and I always have my vehicle ready when they say and most of the time earlier. The thing I like most about Thornhill Hyundai is they never try to push me into buying more services, I feel confident in knowing that any recommendations made are actually required. Plus they have great coffee and if needed a shuttle service. It's also nice that my sales agent, Luiza, comes to talk with it at every service visit, to make sure that everything is still running smoothly, that I'm still happy with my purchase, and to just chat. I would highly recommend.

My family recently purchased a Hyundai sonata 2014 from Thornhill Hyundai. The whole staff members were very friendly, we felt very welcomed there. The sales person Irene Song really helped us out in getting the right car. She was very honest, trustworthy, welcoming and friendly. She treated me like one of her family members! I especially recommend her for people of Korean origin as she understands the culture and the language very well. Since I was out of the town this weekend, my dad, who is not a fluent English speaker, had to go to the dealership by himself, and he told me that he didn't have any trouble communicating because she was there!
Our family have been to many other dealerships (other hyundai dealershop, Mazda, toyota etc.), and we can say that the service provided at Thornhill Hyundai was the by far the best.
