Hyundai, a company with dubious representation in Canada

We purchased our Hyundai Tucson Luxury at Clarington Hyundai and our whole experience with Hyundai from beginning to end has been a very bad one, from the beginning, never receiving a second electronic key fob and having to have it replaced at our own expense until hounding the dealership to be reimbursed. Secondly we never received a car manual with our purchase and had to pursue it more than once to be given one and then brazenly through sleight of hand in front our very eyes were given a manual in a second-hand case. They attempted to mollify us by promising a free oil change since we had to drive from Barrie to the dealership in Clarington twice, in order to collect the replacement car manual and key fob. ( We never received this benefit.) And now we are dealing with this extended warranty issue in which they underpaid and omitted the warranty written terms and conditions and told us mistruths. We dealt with representatives, Rob, Patrick and Michelle

We can only assume in having experienced all this, that in allowing Hyundai dealers to operate this way with no system of checks or balances that Hyundai Canada is complicit in the dubious administrations of the dealerships and as a result responsible for the impending negative fallout that these actions will bring, not only with the media, social media but more importantly with the customers.

I have always received good service when visiting Clarington Hyundai but I would like to take a moment to spotlight a special individual, Brianna in the service department!

Any time I have a hiccup with my vehicle, Brianna is always there to put my mind at ease and help me get to the bottom of the issue.

I had to bring my car into the dealership 4 separate times for the same intermittent issue that just wouldn't show up when they were checking it. On my last visit, Brianna could tell I was frustrated as my warranty was coming to an end and she advocated for me and had the service team test my vehicle more in-depth and were finally able to figure out the issue. She kept me updated every step of the way and gave me honest, genuine help and I am so appreciative for that.

I hope Clarington Hyundai is aware of the amazing employee they have and know that customers keep coming back all thanks to employees like Brianna!

Absolutely amazing experience! Christine made us feel welcome and listened to our wants and needs. So much so that she completely changed my mind on what vehicle I was originally going for after listening to what I was saying. I did not buy a car here, but when I was there, the sales staff and the Manager Rob, were great to me ! Gave me a chance to really test drive the car a bit longer than usual and just super friendly. I ended up buying a Kia Stinger (not a SUV that I was originally shopping for), but I've had my 2011 Santa Fe serviced here and again, service staff was pleasant to deal with.
I Highly recommend checking them out !! Good luck to them in their new building they built next door to their previous location !!

Just returned home after having my car serviced here today. What an experience. I had originally booked for detailing, my summer tires put back on, and the standard oil change. Shortly after dropping the car off, I get a text with a link to a video that the service tech took showing me the details of why they were recommending other service be done. The quote was considerably higher than expected, but I thought it had to be done so go for it. (One of the repairs they did under warranty without me even having to ask about it0. The advisor, Kim Astbury, kept me informed every step of the way, and it felt like I was talking to an old friend. The shuttle both bringing me home, and picking me up was timely, the driver very friendly, and safety protocol very much adhered to. But the best of all...... My car looks better than it did the day I picked it up. Absolutely amazing, clean, shiny, windows looked like new glass, no streaks in the sun, every bit of salt stains were gone, even where the salt had rusted my trunk release and gas release knobs was clean. I cannot thank the good folks at CH enough. Amazing team!!!!

AMAZING SERVICE FROM BEGINNING TO END
From the moment I walked in and was greeted by such friendly staff, Grant helped me and got me set up to test drive two cars. After I chose the Santa Fe, I met with Alicia an we went through the financing part. She mad e the process so simple and easy. It was just under 3 hours and I test drove 2 cars, picked a car and had everything completed.
I ordered my car and it was in my hands within a week.
I would recommend Clarington Hyundai to anyone that is looking for a new or used car.
Grant showed me everything in my new car and sent me on my happy way :)

So impressed. Bought my car last summer from here just recently had a problem while driving to work on the highway where check engine light turned on and my car started sounding off while driving. In a panic I called Hyundai and they immediately set me up with a tow covered by my warranty to ensure my safety when returning from work. By the evening time they got me in a rental car also covered by my warranty and made my car priority over Easter weekend and with only one mechanic working during a Pandemic.
By Monday my car was ready to go with an easy fix.

Worst experience ever, they sold me a lemon and did nothing about it. I purchased a brand new Elantra, upon driving off the parking lot, the car pulls you into oncoming traffic. I brought the car back to them, they checked it out and said it was fine, the problem still persists, I went back and said no change had been made, the mechanic went for a drive with me and said he knows what I'm talking about now, the car dangerously pulls you into oncoming traffic, I left the car with them, the manager tells me there is nothing they can do with the car. I'm stuck with a lemon, what a horrible first car buying experience, first time i switched from GM and what a horrible mistake.

Friendly, upbeat staff. No sales pressure. The reason for the 3 star was the unwillingness to disclose a break-down of pricing and trade-in numbers. I received a bottom line number for the vehicle price and a promise that "our price can't be beat. I was promised a full disclosure of the pricing details AFTER I committed to buy. After emailing the sales manager and expressing my concern about the lack of transparency he said he'd give me a price break-down if I agreed to giving him the last opportunity to beat any competitor. I told him I would not promise this (almost every salesperson I visit asks for the last opportunity to beat a price). Eventually the salesperson with the lowest price, whoever that is, will be the person I make a sale with. Having visited a few dealerships I can say from experience that "our price can't be beat" is an often-used line. To their credit the price was very attractive (with a promotion for a FREE Caribbean cruise). However, without full transparency and disclosure I find it difficult to proceed with any large transaction. In the age of information numbers should be provided. In my experience at other dealerships (Honda, Nissan, Mazda to date) a detailed breakdown of price, incentives, rebates, promotions, trade-in value, etc is freely offered in a detailed print-out. If such numbers were provided I would consider a new vehicle purchase from Clarington Hyundai, if their prices were the best.

I really like this dealership compared to the other locations I’ve been to from customer service as well as selection of vehicles. The only thing I don’t like is the too good go be true talk. I paid 19,500 for a vehicle from another location traded it in less than 2 months later only got $14,000 for it but other dealers offered me $15,500.

I love the vehicle I switched into ITS MY DREAM SUV..... but the way the conversation went they made it seem like I was getting this vehicle for a great price and they were throwing in an extended warranty for me. The vehicle was sold to me at regular price $23,600... The only reason it seemed like a better sale price based off of the finance payment amounts is because they made it a longer finance period which brought the biweekly instalments down.

I was charged an extra $2500 for an additional warranty and the “free tint” I got is TRASH!!! Not their fault as it’s done at an external company but still kind of annoying. It has to be completely re-done its bubbling and has dust particles all over the inside of the tint.

Don’t get me wrong I LOVE THIS PLACE because everyone I dealt with was very kind and compassionate and understanding of my situation but you really need to pay attention to the numbers / offers.

Lastly, the original delivery date was supposed to be Friday it got pushed to the Tuesday and upon pick up the vehicle had not been to the auto body repair shop to fix the major wear & tear ( large and visible scratches ) that was promised to me which means another trip back to Clarington from downtown Toronto.

I understand they have a bunch of deals going on it’s a busy location and Alexis and Stephan were great I just think a little more open communication would be beneficial to build the business and consumer satisfaction rapport.

Some dealerships can give off a very cold feeling, but this was not the case here. Everyone had a smile on their faces and made an effort to say hello to me. I recently purchased my new vehicle from Clarington and could not be more pleased with my dealings with Ken Pause, Kris Dickson and Andy McNamara. This team quickly assesses a particular customer, tailoring
their approach accordingly. As a result, I experienced a very positive, no-nonsense, no pressure situation that I felt completely comfortable in.

In my case I required the vehicle (a showroom example) quickly and was pleasantly surprised that delivery could be arranged the very next day, Ken having to expend extra effort to accomplish this. In fact, I later found out that the next day delivery date was actually Ken's day off, yet he came in to see me off in my new pride and joy. Not once did he mention it was his day off...I found this out from another source. He is a class act.

Knowing my interest in certain technical aspects of the vehicle and questions regarding appropriate maintenance, I was introduced to Kris, the service dept. foreman who patiently addressed my questions and concerns, providing me with a wealth of information in the process. His considerable knowledge and experience was quite obvious and of much benefit to me.

Andy went through all the financial/extras-related options with me as required and not once did I feel pressured into buying anything I really did not want or need.

This has been my best new car buying experience by far and I would highly recommend Clarington Hyundai to others. The team excels at 'knowing their customer.'

Taken my SUV to this dealership and the history of the vehicle over a 2 1/2 year period has been 25,000 KM. 3 times I have been in the dealer ship for my "Breaks" yet I barely drive the SUV. They claim the breaks just wear and go... yes... every 10,000 KM the breaks have to be replaced. More like the dealership needs to be replaced due to the poor quality of work.

I have other vehicles and haven't had to replace the "breaks" every 6 months /10,000 KM's. They just milk people.
