I went in to the dealership looking to test drive the new Kona electric vehicle. We spoke with Spencer Gorman, one of the sales people in the showroom. It was the middle of the day when we went in and as far as I could tell we were the only customers at that time. Spencer told us they did not have any of that vehicle to test drive, however he believed that Bolton Hyundai may have one. I then asked if he could check to see if Newmarket Hyundai had one as it was a more convenient location for me to go to. He informed me that he didn't have access to their inventory so couldn't check. My response was to ask him if he could call them and check. The answer to that was "I could call, but so could you". I was so surprised by his obvious lack of interest in providing any sort of customer service that I left. I ended up going to Bolton and then customer service there was incredible. Needless to say I will never go back to Baytowne Hyundai and will not have my vehicle serviced there. I cannot believe that this dealership is still in business when their sales staff treat customers as though there request are an inconvenience to them.

I bought a lightly used Subaru Outback trade-in here. The staff was extremely attentive, in particular, the salesman who helped me, Glen. When I received the car, it had been meticulously detailed, and they had sanitized the entire thing. I even noticed that they had placed on the dashboard a color-coded tag, blue on one side red on the other, in order to identify whether the vehicle had been sanitized or not. The manager, George, was very personable, and I was generally very pleased with their professionalism and care. Great experience. Highly recommended.

I would recommend you asking for Kyle. He's very straight to the point and very knowledgeable of the vehicle and buying process. We contacted Kyle after we couldn't make a deal with another member of the sales team. After that we got the vehicle we wanted and the sale was seamless. Special thanks to Marla Banks too.....seamless. The car we bought was a demo and it was a mess when we first looked at it. We insisted on seeing it, but the guy who was using it really did not keep it in "demo" condition. The service and prep team did an amazing job. Vehicle was perfect including the accessories we asked for.
Kyle and Marla get 5 stars, but they saved the dealership getting the sale. The dealership gets 4 stars (because of the first sales guy and the dirty demo ) but they get 5.

If you want to buy a Hyundai because it's a good value and it has a nice warranty... consider where you will have to take it for that warranty work and talk to a few frustrated customers waiting for service at the counter. Theres a reason they keep the sales and service areas well separated by a fancy looking lounge area. Look at all the dismal people waiting for their vehicles to be worked on, again and again for the simplest of things.

I have a SantaFe XL limited.... not a cheap vehicle.... last 2 times I’ve called for service, first a break Job and second a simple tune up (spark plugs) was told they don’t do “tune ups” they do multi point inspections?.... just price the job no? BUYER BEWARE!!!

Stopped into Baytowne Hyundai Service center to have my Santa Fe looked at. Shifting from Drive to Reverse was stiff and the vehicle would not shift into Reverse occasionally.
I was told I'd have to wait 1/2 hour to have someone look at the vehicle. Looking around, there was one person waiting in the waiting area. I said I'd come back. He said no, you can wait for an available tech.
We started the paperwork. The Service center person told me it's probably an "internal transmission problem." I said no, it's probably an electrical issue, since the vehicle shifts fine. There are no unusual noises when shifting or warning lights.
He started to register the vehicle into the computer system. Printed out some paperwork and said, "sign here". Looking at the documents, hand written I saw "125 diag". I asked, what's this? He replied, "it's the charge for the diagnostic". What's odd, while booking the vehicle into the computer. Nobody said anything about any fee. On the computer printed documentation, it only contains the VIN and vehicle model. NOTHING formally printed regarding a diagnostic charge.
Seeing this is a scam, I took me keys back and walked out without signing.

ANOTHER DEALERSHIP north of Barrie new the problem was the Inhibitor Switch from talking on the phone. Since this can get corroded and make shifting a problem. A common issue for the model year of my vehicle.
There was no charge for ANY diagnostic. Just a One hour service rate + Tax to loosen and lubricate the Inhibitor Switch.

The google reviews say it all. Brought in my car for a warranty item, told them had the brakes done somewhere else (because the brakes couldn't wait the THREE weeks they told me it would be to get my appointment and warranty item checked). Immediately the guy at the counter gave me attitude telling me the brake job might be the issue, and it went downhill from there... Three weeks earlier they tell me that a $40, 31 point inspection would cover checking the warranty item. First of all, I have never been charged ANYWHERE for checking something that might be a warranty item in over 30 years of driving, so that annoyed me. Earlier that morning, I already called them up before my appointment to change the appointment to include an annual service. I then repeat this request at the front desk to the SAME GUY I spoke to on the phone. What do they do? They charge me the $40 inspection, and a FURTHER $55 for inspecting the warranty item, they DON'T do the annual service and lie to me by telling me that replacing the brakes is the annual inspection and so I didn't need it done (and the oil change? or is that not important?), they also forget to grease the door hinges which I told this SAME GUY at the front desk to have done because they were so loud, and you would think this would have been found on their 31 point inspection that I am 100% confident they didn't do (all they had to do was open a door to notice it), AND then they have the GALL to insinuate that my brake job might have been done wrong and that could be the problem I'm having. WOW, what a crew they have there. If that guy worked for me he'd have his walking papers in two seconds flat. Didn't listen to a word I said, made excuses for a shoddy performance, and just plain and simply didn't do his job. I am sure the mechanics do a decent job but with a guy like that at the front desk they must be losing clients hand over fist. One star but I didn't have the option of no stars.

Frustrated by poor customer service at Service department! Appointment for 10:30 for spring service. I was there by 10:15. Told to sit down. Not given work form to sign until 12:15. Basically a 2 hour wait of watching t.v.. Finally told at 12:30 work needed to be done. Finally offered courtesy shuttle but it would be 30 minute wait. Didn't show up until 1:15. Made it home by 1:30. Told vehicle would be done by 3:00. I had to call them at 4:00 to find out what was going on. Car still not ready.What a day of frustration and poor communication. Had I been offered a courtesy shuttle at the onset I might not have lost my mind.

2010 - went into dealer in jeans and T shirt was looking for a genesis coupe. walked around for 30 minutes, and no one approached me. When i start to leave a guy asks if i need help. I told him too late. Went to Sisley Hyundai and bought a genesis coupe. eventually drove back to dealer and told them I was ignores and just a bought a car.

2014- got car back from dealer after service and there was a dent on the hood. they denied doing it. probably dropped a wrench or something on it. cost be $100 for paintless dent repair.

Oct 2015 - Started off with an oil change in july 2014 at Baytowne Hyundai in Barrie. Drove the car until end of october and stored away for winter. Pulled car out of storage in May 2015. Little did i think that there was no oil in the car and drove the car for a month. In june the car started making an odd occasional clunking sound only when turned left. That is when i noticed oil light came on for 2 seconds and then went off. I went home and checked the oil and the oil level never even touched the bottom of the dipstick. I topped off the oil...was over 1.5 litres below normal. Immediately went for an oil change at oil changer to flush out the old oil.
Was furious and called baytowne and spoke to service manager on the monday after discovering low oil. He tried to blame it on the car burning oil. I told him that my car does not burn oil. Later in the week i went to Baytown Hyundai for another oil change. The car seemed to run fine, but the initial damage was done. Had no further engine sounds or problems until last week (sept 24). Engine started knocking Under acceleration. Took to Baytowne spoke to manager...said it was main bearing upon hearing it. Said new engine was $12k + install. I told him about the oil change again and reminded him that the dealer failed to fill the oil correctly.
Called hyundai canada...explained warranty was just over in time and only 72000km on engine. They said they could not do anything. I am awaiting a call from head office. I still have to tell them about the low oil. I realize it is hard to prove. I am not asking for a free engine....maybe some consideration that maybe the dealer messed up.

THE WORST PART WAS THE OIL LIGHT CAME FOR 3 SECONDS....ONLY ONCE!!!

This has really turned me off buying another hyundai.

NOV 6th - They failed to notify me that my rear differential pinion seal was leaking. My mechanic and I noticed the oil leak while we were doing other work this weekend. Now looking to get this fixed ASAP.

The dealer changed the differential OIL in October and did not notice this??!!?? the oil was splattered all over the exhaust and was visibly wet around the area of the pinion seal. I am now looking to get the seal replaced. If i keep driving on this with an oil leak, it would ruin the Torsen differential, which I am sure the dealer would want about $2000 or more dollars for.

Nov 20 - Update - went to long time mechanic...he started to replace the differentiAL PINION SEAL . The oil that came out was pitch black. So basically dealer charged me for differential oil change BUT NEVER DID THE WORK. Complained to Hyundai Canada...said i would have to speak to dealer. Will be doing that next week.
