My Family Bought a 2017 Honda CRV a couple weeks ago from Clarington Honda and after driving it for awhile, it seems as the frame is bent, as well as the alignment is out of calibration. after doing some research these "people" at Clarington Honda sold us a car that has been in a major accident, and failed to disclose this information upon buying this vehicle. Currently OMVIC regulations state that any accidents need to be disclosed in writing before purchase, and of course this was not followed. They sold us a lemon and violated OMVIC Law. Adrian sold us the vehicle, and upon talking to Mike (the "manager") recently, they told us that it was our problem now. I'm very furious with the way they sold us a vehicle without disclosing important information that would affect the performance let alone safety of a vehicle, especially when there is 3 children in the car at most times. It is very unprofessional that they will not do anything for us, knowing that they broke the law. I am giving them 0 stars. I DO NOT recommend going here. Clarington Honda is run by a bunch of amateur salesmen, let alone management is poor. go to Whitby Honda or something. Do not waste your time and hard earned money at clarington honda. I will never be going back.

I took my car in for what should have been a free recall. A phone call hours later from Mr. Dyer, a service advisor (ext. 117) recommended $1400.00 + worth of work. Some of the upsell included items of debatable value for an older car, some good and one pretty sketchy recommendation. I was advised that I needed an oil change, not called for on the maintenance minder, and in spite of a recent oil change at Liberty Lube. When I asked how my oil could possibly need doing again (worrying that my car may be leaking oil) the advisor informed me that "The oils Dirty, so they must NOT have done a good job". Later a different service advisor gave me a more logical explanation. 

As a person who is unfamiliar with automotive maintenance, it behooves a service advisor to put his advice into context of what is required, why and the urgency for the work. Here I was let down. I felt disrespected when my advisor seemed annoyed by my questioning and failed to provide the background information for me to make some costly decisions. Added problems arose when one recommended procedure resulted in further damage to my car. 

Thankfully the service manager, Rod, was on hand to provide the ride home (the dealership was closing down), and offered to cover the cost of the damage. 

The following day the service advisor was less than helpful calling with the cost to repair to the damage. This left me wondering how I would pay my morgage this month. Thankfully the service manager kept to his promise and covered the cost of the damage.

My advice, if you go there be ready for the up-sell, demand reasons for their suggestions, know your maintenance manual and prepare to stand firm.

New Car (Sales)

Well a little back story, I bought a brand new 2018 civic in April 2018. I purchased the rust module and shark skin package and was told the car would’ve ready in a few days Great! I went and picked it up and thought everything was good. About 2 months later I get a shady call asking me to bring the car in for an inspection but wasn’t told much else. I agreed but was hard finding the time as I had moved, I said I would call them back. I ended up getting a call 10 minutes later sayingjust bring it in and I would get a loaner. I thought it was very strange and that something wasn’t right. The next day I got the service reminder email and it said rust module and shark skin wasn’t done. I question them and they would not admit it wasn’t done. Now I’m obviously not very happy so I called the manager. He was absolutely not helpful at all and just would not be straight up. My point was I bought this and paid for it to dine brand new not months later. If they had of been straight up and not been so coy about it i wouldn’t of been this upset. It has been 9 months now and still nothing, I get a call once a month asking to bring it in. Lol. I’m not paying for this to be done on a used car and there attitude is too bad. I guess I’m the only one losing asim out the money and the product. THATS HOW THEY TREAT THERE CUSTOMERS

We made the mistake trusting and buying our new car from this dealership! Initially we were suppose to go to Pickering Honda, based on the good experiences my coworkers expressed. However, we went there and found a few cars that caught our eyes before we decided just to buy new! Carrie was wonderful in showing us and explaining the features. She was truly a sweet heart and worked with us. Then we sat with Jay to go over the additional insurance packages, and to take care of the finances. We were advised by him we would get 3 free oil changes when we purchase two additional insurance packages. It wasn't till I called in to provide the bank's address, that we found paperwork was not done properly. The agent I spoke with fixed it, and advised that Jay was a new employee. No biggie mistakes happen... so we thought! We contacted Jay once more to upgrade the KM in one of the packages due to my daily commute. We kept our commitment and kept both packages and upgraded one, expecting he would keep his. This was done over the phone and at the end we were told the 3 free oil changes would be in my file. When I called to book a oil change, I found that it wasn't on my file! And when I spoke with Jay to remind him what he had told us, he stated he wasn't here the day we picked up the car; therefore he doesn't know what was arranged. The ONLY changes that were made was only our upgrade in one of the packages, that was done with him over the phone! We had trusted him to do what he said he was going to do. He stated he didn't recall this and I should have taken this up with the person that I signed the final paperwork with when we picked up the car. I wasn't going to repeat professional ethics to him, so I requested to speak to his supervisor because we were lead wrong. Jay had told me that no one was available to take my call at the time, and that I would receive a call back from a manager. It's been a week and a half later and I still haven't received a call back.
I will not return to this dealership to get my son's car or our CRV. I also don't and will not recommend this dealership to anyone in the future.

Extremely disappointed with the quality of work at Clarington Honda. My husband purchased a civic from Whitby Honda is 2011 and had always received great service for years. Every time we visit Clarington Honda there is always a problem and we always need to book a second appointment. Our windshield cracked and we booked an appointment, we dropped our van off and hours after the appointment we were called that a windshield was never ordered and we would need to come pick up our van and re book an appointment. Last week we paid $200 for your gold cleaning and there was alot of spots that were missed. My husband called and we were told to come back into have the van cleaned again. At the dealership the spots missed were pointed out and there were still spots that weren't cleaned. We bought our van brand new from Clarington Honda and they installed an aftermarket DVD played. It has broken down on us twice and both times we booked to have it fixed, dropped the van off, paid for a rental car and were called hours after the appointment saying the DVD player wasn't installed by them and we need to go back to where it was installed. Both times having to explain the same story and re book an appointment... recalls were needed on the van and we were called that the van was fixed and to pick it up. After getting home and looking at the paper work we see incomplete and that parts need to be ordered and we need to re book an appointment. The dealership told us everything was completed and told us nothing of having to come back.
Our sliding door wasn't working and we brought it in, it was at your shop all day and we were told the problem couldn't be duplicated. When I came to pick up the van the door malfunctioned right in front of the mechanic who agreed it was a problem and told me to re book. I re booked and was told again they can't find a problem with it even though your own mechanic saw it not working!

I have always given Clarington Honda a perfect score previously. I had company cars brought here for service. Felt loyal to them so bought my new car here even though was offered better prices elsewhere. Since the day we bought the car service and communication has been terrible. The last time they misdiagnosed issues 3x making me pay full each time and handed my car back with completely flat tires. Management hides behind employees and wouldn't deal with us. I now drive to Whitby and Lindsay Honda and receive 10x better service and feel like a valued customer. If you are ok being just a number you and ok never receiving quality service go here. If you want something more - drive 20 min down the road.

I’m very annoyed with Honda! I purchased my Honda Odyssey in 2019 new and since the day we drove off the lot the Bluetooth has never worked. I have call numerous times to be told it’s a update Honda Canada has not released yet. I called Honda Canada who told me the dealership can call for the fix. I called 2 weeks in advance and explained I was going on a long trip and needed this fixed. Yesterday my van was there from 9am till almost 3pm and still no fix for the software. I would of thought a call would of been made prior to my appointment to ensure this software glitch was fixed. We are now driving to Florida and not even 2 hours into the trip the DVD player and back camera stop working with 3 very upset children! Looks like I purchase the van in the wrong colour, should be yellow because I paid 60,000 for a lemon! FURIOUS!

Extremely happy with the exceptional customer service that I experienced when purchasing my 2019 Civic Sport at Clarington Honda. As soon as we arrived, Mike, the general sales manager, greeted us with a hello and got us in touch with Carrie. I've been to many dealerships, and on many occasions have gone 5-10 minutes without even being acknowledged. Something as simple as a hello made us feel welcome right off the start.

Carrie was very friendly and patient with us and she was not pushy at all. She was very knowledgeable and helpful when explaining all of the features of the Civic. She even had coffee waiting for us when we came in to sign the paperwork! By far the best sales person I've ever dealt with.

I also had a great experience dealing with Dominik from Finance. He explained all of the different packages I could get with my vehicle and made sure I left as a happy customer.

Brenden/Renny from Service were also great. I am looking forward to servicing my vehicle here because these guys were awesome to deal with.

Terrible experience. We bought a demo car 10 days ago and have already had 3 things go wrong. We were assured that this car was in perfect condition, better than new, was the owner’s car and very well taken car of etc..... Totally untrue. Day 1 there was no AC, after the condenser was replaced they screwed up something under the hood which caused our key fob and car starter to stop working. First trip on the highway and the car is now telling us to contact the dealer as our cruise control and collision mitigation system is failing. We have owned this car for 10 days. It is clearly defective and was obviously not properly inspected like they assured us it was. This car only has 10,000km. We will never be coming back to this dealership.

Edit- to the owner’s reply, if you want to make it right then take back this car and give us our money back. Since Mike has stopped replying to my emails with all the pictures of the error messages that the car throws off at us while driving on the highway I figured I’d edit my review on here. I don’t feel safe with this car on the highway with my kids.

WORST DEALERSHIP EVER.
If I could put zero stars I would. Carrie sold me a used Civic (in 2018) that had previously been in a rear end accident. She assured me that it was just minor and the $2000+ repair on the report was probably just for the car rental fees.... Maybe your used car appraiser should have caught this??

And Nolan was extremely rude on the phone when I first talked to him. I wasn’t entirely sure yet which car I wanted so he told me to figure it out with Carrie because he wasn’t dealing with me. If you are doing financing you may want to work on some customer service skills. This customer will never be back.

I returned with the car because the trunk kept popping open without me touching the button. And there was dirt getting into the trunk.
They said they would fix it for me. It got sent out to be fixed at their expense (apparently it cost a lot to do as they informed me when I picked it up). I got it back and the trunk for the most part stops opening on its own. It has happened 2 or 3 times since though. And there is STILL dirt getting into my trunk. Not sure what to do now since they provide such terrible service and I Do NOT trust this dealership or anyone in there. I had no idea of the terrible reviews this place had until after I purchased my car. Clearly you cannot look at the reviews on here because they promote the 5 star reviews to be seen first.
I have taken my business to Cobourg Honda because they have excellent service and they are a dealership that I trust.

Is zero stars not an option???

I'm not sure how they acquired all of the five star reviews, (purchased them straight from Google maybe?) but my own experience with them has been atrocious at best. Brought my atv in for an intermittent rear brake issue, (loss of hydraulic pressure so that the rear brake fails to work) they "recommended" that I change all of the fluid as well along with the fix.
After being told at the time it should only take a couple days, I left them to it. Two plus weeks, and many calls later (good luck trying to get through to service on the phone) I finally got my machine back.
They changed the master cylinder, the differential fluids and charged me dearly for it.
I took it out for a drive only to find out the brake problem wasn't fixed after all. Took it back and left it for a week only for them to tell me they couldn't find any problem, but that they'd have someone "look at it again" and after more days of waiting they said they fixed it, that there was still some air bubbles in the lines. I quickly discovered on a test ride the next day that the problem was still there! Now I'm going to have to fix it myself, because taking it back to these incompetent clowns is out of the question.

I spent hundreds of dollars for service I didn't receive.

I should have taken my brother's advice when he told me not to go here for service.

Had a fantastic experience getting our Honda Odyssey here. The sales staff was attentive and worked within our budget as much as they could to ensure we got what we wanted. My wife was recently in a car accident and we brought our van back to them to be fixed, they were fast and efficient and very helpful coordinating with the rental car company.

The only reason i didn't give them five stars is their communication can be weak. I wish they were better at returning customer phone calls.

Had a fantastic experience getting our Honda Odyssey here. The sales staff was attentive and worked within our budget as much as they could to ensure we got what we wanted. My wife was recently in a car accident and we brought our van back to them to be fixed, they were fast and efficient and very helpful coordinating with the rental car company.

The only reason i didn't give them five stars is their communication can be weak. I wish they were better at returning customer phone calls.

I wanted to share with you the great experience I had dealing with Kaitlyn a few weeks ago. To give you a little background, my Brother and I had been to your dealership a few times prior where he purchased a used vehicle and myself a new motorcycle and this is where we initially met Kaitlyn. By meeting her we always knew that one day we would like to deal with her and give her our business.

So that day came a few weeks ago where I was interested in a new Honda Civic and made arrangements to see her. I was actually excited to see her due to her personality and also her great knowledge of Honda products and here I am a few weeks later a proud owner of a new 2016 Honda Civic!

The staff and the experience at Clarington Honda are both top notch, I purchased a 2015 Honda Civic back in February of 2015 and have nothing but good things to say. Buying my first car was easy. The staff at Clarington Honda made my experience pleasant and smooth. Their customer service is 100% and would recommend visiting them before making a commitment anywhere else. There are a one stop shop for all your Honda needs and accessories. I was a little set back however when I did not received a call from the salesman to ask how I was enjoying my new car. But for the record I am enjoying it immensely.
