Chevrolet is a North American automaker that was founded in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet and William Durant. The first vehicle was the Series C Classic Six that offered electric headlamps and a starter. The current product line consists of the Cruze, Sonic, Trax, Spark, Malibu, Impala, Camaro, Corvette, Volt, Equinox, Traverse, Tahoe, Suburban, Colorado, Silverado, and Express.
The company has won numerous awards, including The Best Buy Award by Consumers Digest for the Cruze, Equinox, Traverse, Malibu, Camaro, and Corvette. Other awards include the European New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) 5 Star Rating, Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and 5-Star Safety Rating by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The company is also progressing towards reducing its environmental impact with the introduction of the Chevrolet Volt, the first mass-produced electric-vehicle (EV) with a gasoline-powered generator. The vehicle has won numerous awards and recognition, including the 10 Best Cars by Car and Driver, Top 10 Best Engines by Ward’s Auto, and 2011 Automobile of the Year by the Automobile Magazine. The Volt is powered by a lithium-ion battery pack that is estimated to have a range of 56 kilometers and a total range of 600 kilometers with a full tank of gas. The vehicle also has an optional Bose Energy Efficient Series speaker system that is lighter and consumes less energy than other comparable systems.
Chevrolet is also an innovative leader with advanced technologies including, MyLink, OnStar with Turn by Turn navigation, and StabiliTrak Electronic Stability Control System.
