The 2016 Toyota Tundra makes no major changes to this year’s upgrade but nonetheless stands out as an all-around utility vehicle. Outfitted with a large and spacious cabin, the Tundra definitely excels in terms of comfort and convenience. The biggest highlight of this pickup, however, can be found under the hood with a 4.6-litre V8 or 5.7-litre V8, both producing huge numbers in terms of output. Moreover, the driving experience is enhanced with technological components like Toyota’s Entune infotainment system, which is displayed on a seven-inch touchscreen display. Clearly, this good-looking truck is incredibly capable and effortlessly fills your rigorous needs with power, comfort and style.

Full Review

The 2016 Toyota Tundra excels in engine power and cargo space for optimal towing ability and loading, despite making minimal changes from last years model. It is both capable and manoeuvrable, holding a rugged and dominant stance on the road and hosting tons of features that make loading and towing seem like easy tasks. The interior cabin is likewise comfortable and adequately spacious, and features various technological capabilities designed to improve your driving experience with assistance and safety. As it stands, the 2016 Toyota Tundra boasts all-around utility and does the job as a midsize pickup.

On the outside, the 2016 Toyota Tundra holds a muscular, rugged look that suggests immense capability, which is a requirement in the big truck category. Though this truck emphasizes functionality and thus integrates minimal stylistic features, it provides a strong foundation, striking outward style and a more aggressive stance in this years update. The Tundra previously received a slight refresh in 2014 with a new grille, hood and front-end treatment, so we’re not expecting anything major this year. But it’s clearly a force to be reckoned with on the road.

Toyota outfits this truck with a plain but quiet cabin that is adorned with a lot of plastic, which gives it a low quality feel but that is to be expected with pickup trucks. These vehicles are designed with capability and functionality in mind, thus some comforts and conveniences are sacrificed. The Tundra, however, features broad front seats that are indeed comfortable, with vast legroom and headroom for all occupants. Up front, the center console is large enough to hold some large items like file folders and laptops, and there’s also a sliding rear window and storage under the rear seats for your total convenience. The folding rear seats also provide a good amount of protected storage, if you don’t want to keep items in the bed.

The centre stack likewise hosts a seven-inch touchscreen display with a premium version of Toyota’s Entune infotainment system. The system conveniently bundles navigation, HD radio, traffic/weather updates, smartphone integration and SiriusXM satellite radio. Additional features throughout the cabin can include heated and cooled front bucket seats, parking sensors and a power sunroof.

Performance wise, the new Tundra offers two units for good towing capability, with both models delivering some serious power. The base model offers a 4.6-litre V8 engine that produces 310 horsepower and 327 pound-feet of torque, and though it runs pretty smoothly – power, acceleration and fuel economy aren’t stellar. If you’re looking for true towing ability, the optional 5.7-litre V8 is probably the best choice, producing 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. It’s not as quiet or smooth as the former, but its performance definitely exceeds some other big-trucks. Both engines can tow up to 10,400 pounds when running on standard rear-wheel drive and six-speed automatic transmission.

Safety features are in short supply, however the 2016 Tundra includes a standard rear view camera on top of stability and traction control, antilock brakes and trailer sway control. Optional features include parking sensors, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert.

Overall, the 2016 Toyota Tundra holds a powerful engine line-up and ample cargo space for optimal loading and towing. This is the classic pickup truck that not only performs well, but is also loaded with features designed to improve your driving experience.
