The 2016 Scion tC, though lacking in outward revision clearly boasts a feature-rich profile on all frontiers. Appearance and performance are clearly valued above all else in this sport coupe, and these aspects are translated into a ton of features that only work to enhance the vehicle as a whole. Besides its incredibly aggressive outer profile, the biggest highlight can be found under the hood in the 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine that delivers 179 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque. Available with six-speed automatic or manual transmission, this vehicle offers 12.3 litres per 100 kilometres city and 9.1 litres per 100 kilometres highway.
The 2016 Scion tC is an incredibly attractive and performance oriented vehicle for the upscale driver with an appreciation for quality and style. The vehicle’s exterior is refined with slight modifications made to the front end, while the interior is largely kept the same with upgraded technical features. Most importantly, however, is the impressive engine under the hood that efficiently delivers great power. This coupe is truly an enjoyable ride, packed with all the style and power you could ask for at this price point.
The 2016 Scion tC carries over relatively unchanged this year in terms of outward appearance, seemingly maintaining its traditional sport-inspired look that is so obviously inspired by the FR-S. The sport coupe as a whole takes on more of an angular look and assertive stance with high shoulders, sharp lines and creased corners punched into the sleek sheet metal. This vehicle overall holds more a bold attitude in this years update.
The new Scion tC hosts a minimalist aesthetic throughout the interior cabin, combining carbon-fibre accents and durable plastic for a sturdy and sensible feel throughout. Monochromatic upholstery lines the entirety of the vehicle on the inside, which is especially noticeable on the comfortable, roomy and supportive front seats. They boast good head and legroom up-front, which is surprisingly mirrored in the backseat with decent space for three passengers. New additions this year include a leather-wrapped shift knob and silver interior door handles.
There aren’t many technology features in this sports coupe as its main purpose is performance oriented, however it does house some convenient infotainment capabilities. Embedded in the center stack is a seven-inch touchscreen interface that bundles a rear view camera, voice controls, drive information, Pioneer sound system and Bluetooth connectivity. But navigation is noticeably missing from this update, making this vehicle just a tad under par. Nonetheless, drivers will inevitably benefit from the leather-wrapped steering wheel and sunroof.
In terms of performance, only one engine option is offered on the Scion tC, but it’s undoubtedly fun to drive and easy to handle. Under the hood is a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 179 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque. Six-speed manual transmission is standard on this vehicle, but drivers can opt for six-speed sequential gearbox that is controlled by shift paddles, and also happens to be the more fuel-efficient option. For a lightweight sports car like this, the automatic drivetrain is rated at 12.3 litres per 100 kilometres city and 9.1 litres per 100 kilometres highway. Safety features are evidently limited in the tC, opting only to include antilock brakes, traction and stability control and a rear view camera.
Overall, the 2016 Scion tC is all-around performance-oriented, sporting an energetic drivetrain that is paired with sleek outer refreshes and a decently comfortable interior. Look no further than this vehicle if you’re interested in keeping up in the sport coupe segment.

|Power and Performance:|
If you were expecting a more powerful engine under the hood, then be prepared for disappointment. The tC continues with the same 2.5-liter four-cylinder it received back in 2011, and output remains unchanged at 179 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque. Granted, the four-banger is relatively powerful for this segment, but there’s plenty of room for improvement and I think the tC would be better off with a turbocharged powerplant.

|Interiors and Special Features:|
Changes are minor, but for 2016 the tC, which is Scion's most popular model, will receive a Smart Key with push-button start, leather-wrapped shift knob, silver interior door handles and a new center console tray. A standard rear windshield wiper will also be added to the mix.

The tC comes standard with eight airbags, including seat-mounted side bags along with side-curtain bags and driver and front passenger knee bags. Brake Assist and a brake-throttle override system are also included. Like many of its competitors, the tC doesn't offer advanced safety options such as blind-spot monitors.
