Quick Look

The 2016 Lincoln Navigator has a few minor adjustments made to it, which assists the overall performance, look, and features of the vehicle.

Full Review

The 2016 Lincoln Navigator is truly a presidential drive, with a luxurious exterior, drivers and passengers feel like kings when they are in this luxury SUV on the road. The combination of such strong powertrain, trustworthy safety features, and a beautiful exterior design, drivers cannot say no to a vehicle like the Navigator. There has been a couple of minor adjustments made to this year’s model, which is fine considering the fact that there wasn’t much to change from its predecessor.

The exterior of the vehicle has a very boxy look to it, but that just helps show off its heavy duty and durable trait. The grille is right at the front, divided into two parts with the Lincoln logo placed in between them both. The grille also blends nicely with the headlights as they literally just transition into the glass shell with the bulbs inside. The headlights are powered by LED lighting and since it has a circular shaped light, it looks like the Navigator has eyes. Underneath the headlights are the fog lights, which are also powered by LED lighting, helping it look a lot nicer at night when the designs on the vehicle are harder to see. The rear view of the SUV has a very similar look to its previous year’s model. The entire rear end is the cargo door, and more than half of the door is the cargo window, which allows drivers to have a lot of visibility when reversing. The taillights are right underneath the cargo window and are designed by a horizontal light and spins off near the ends of it. Also, instead of the Lincoln logo placed on the cargo door, the name of the brand, “Lincoln” is spelled out on it.

The interior has almost like a truck-look to it. Since there is a lot of space, and the designs made inside are very bland, the interior is clearly something Lincoln could’ve improved. The centre console is very neat and organized which helps drivers figure out the functions of it easily while driving. The steering wheel doesn’t have many functions on it, which decreases the convenience of the wheel. It is pretty crucial to allow drivers to access almost anything from the steering wheel. There is also a display screen accompanying the centre console. This is used as a visual representation of the audio, Bluetooth, climate control, voice dialling, and the navigation system. The material used for the dashboard could be better, especially with such a rich-looking exterior, it would be expected to have high quality material used for seats.

Under the hood, Lincoln uses a 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine which is able to produce 380 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The engine is powered by a 6-speed automatic transmission with a manual shift mode and runs on an all-wheel drive system. In terms of fuel efficiency, the Navigator is able to drive 100 kilometres in the city with about 14.7 litres and about 10.7 litres on the highway.

The 2016 Lincoln Navigator is a great vehicle for people who need to feel in power while on the road. Since the elevation this SUV gives drivers is very high, it allows them to think mighty of themselves. With the combination for the good exterior looks, strong powertrain, and many safety features, the Lincoln Navigator is sure to leave its mark in its market segment.

Power and Performance:

The 2016 Lincoln Navigator is powered by a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine. With 380 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, it handily outmuscles the outdated 5.4-liter V8 used in past models. The power is transmitted through a 6-speed automatic transmission with a manual shift mode. The SUV's available 4-wheel-drive system uses a 2-speed transfer case. In low range it switches the engine's electronic throttle control to a special off-road calibration for more precise torque management in the worst conditions, such as climbing steep, slippery hills. The system also features hill-descent control and hill-start assist. Towing capability maxes out at 9,000 for a RWD SWB model, and falls to 8,400 pounds for a 4WD Navigator L.

Interiors and Special Features:

Both standard (SWB) and long-wheelbase (LWB) Navigators come with three rows of seats, featuring 2nd-row captain's chairs, with total seating for seven. As a no-cost option, the Navigator can be had with a 2nd-row bench, increasing seating to eight. As expected in a full-size luxury SUV starting over $64,000, fine materials such as leather and wood are abundant. Legroom is good across all rows. Overall interior space is decent, but not as vast as the Lincoln's big exterior may indicate. The 18.1 cubic feet of storage behind the third row of a SWB Navigator trails the max capacity of the smaller Honda Pilot.

Safety features:

For safety: blind-spot monitoring, a rearview camera and front and rear warning sensors. A "welcome mat" puddle light under the outside mirrors illuminates the ground when the unlock button is pressed.
