Full Review

The 2016 Infiniti Q70 exhibits elegant style on the outside while maintaining an incredibly comfortable leather interior for a relaxing driving environment. This vehicle is among the best in luxury sedans and exhibits refinement to the outer profile, though changing only slightly from the previous model. As such, all available engines are powerful and boost this vehicle with ease and precision, exhibiting great handling and manoeuvrability. This luxury sedan is really an enjoyable ride, packed with all the technical features, comforts and power you could ask for.

The 2016 Infiniti Q70 carries over relatively unchanged and, for the most part, seems identical to the outgoing model – save for a few minor modifications. The Infiniti retains its signature look, combining an aggressive front fascia with smooth lines and flowing curves and surfaces. LED headlights and a chrome grille complete this year’s upgrade with elegance and poise, only enhancing their branded appearance. As such, the restyled bumper is slimmer and embedded with new fog lamps for further refinement.

On the inside you’ll find a meticulously designed cabin that feels modern and opulent for a truly enjoyable luxury ride. Fine wood trims and semi-aniline leather lines the cabin, with great attention to detail evidenced throughout the upholstery. A longer wheel-base in the chassis provides more legroom in the back, making this sedan incredibly comfortable even on long trips. There’s also heated seats, personal reading lights and a reorganized center console with a striking LCD screen for improved technical capability. Additional features in the Q70 include but are not limited to heated and ventilated seats, automatic climate control, Bluetooth connectivity, navigation and Bose audio.

Drivers can choose between two powerful drivetrains under the hood, starting with the 3.7-litre V6 engine on the base model. This unit produces 330 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque, while offering a fuel economy of 15.7 litres per 100 kilometres city and 11.8 litres per 100 kilometres highway. Alternatively available is the even more forceful 5.6-litre V8 engine that produces 420 horsepower and 417 pound-feet of torque. This unit is rated at 17.7 litres per 100 kilometres city and 12.3 litres per 100 kilometres highway. Both engines are mated with standard seven-speed automatic transmission and are offered with all-wheel drive.

Safety features in the Q70 are abundant and include front and rear parking sensors, as well as surround view cameras for improved visibility and parking assistance. Dynamic cruise control, blind spot monitor, lane departure warning and forward collision warning are also available.

As it stands, the 2016 Infiniti Q70 is loaded with interior comforts and outer style, standing as one of the best looking luxury sedans around. Featuring an array of technical features and a great engine lineup, this vehicle is sure to please luxury drivers.

Power and Performance:

Under the hood of the new Q70 is a choice of two engines. The first one being a 3.7-liter, VQ series V-6 engine and the second being a 5.6-liter, V-8. The former has the ability to deliver 330 hp and 270 pound-feet of torque, while the latter manages quite a bit more at 420 hp and 417 pound-feet of torque. Both engines come mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission that also offers a manual shift mode. Also in common for both engines is the all wheel drive. The V6 can reportedly spring from zero to 60 in 6.1 second, while the same information for the V6 is not yet known.

Interiors and Special Features:

The Q70 doesn’t fall in the luxury sedan category by chance, the cabin is meticulously designed with a modern and palatial feel. The inside is engulfed in fine wood and semi-aniline leather with cool stitches in its entirety. Thanks to the longer wheelbase the legroom seems to benefit the most, especially in the back row. Big improvements can be seen in the brand-new door design, that makes exit and entry easy and painless. There is now also an auto door closing system that comes as an optional feature. Other notable features include heated seats, 12v power outlets, personal reading lights and a perfectly organised center console with a striking LCD screen.

Safety features:

Dynamic cruise control, adaptive headlamps, and blind-spot and lane-departure warning systems are also on offer, and for 2015, the Q70 gets even more accident-avoidance technology with a forward-collision warning system, a system to prevent backup accidents, and emergency autonomous braking to mitigate the risk of forward collisions.
