Quick Look

Honda has done a great job with their new 2016 Fit. They have gone with a new exterior design to the new model, and with this new design it looks like they are not aiming for different drivers.

Full Review

The new 2016 Honda Fit looks like it is a great car with the newly designed exterior designing. They seem like they are transitioning from a very friendly-looking car to a more serious and modern-looking vehicle. This could be exactly what Honda needs for this model as sales could be a lot better than they currently are. In addition to the changes Honda has made to the exterior designing, they have also made alterations to the interior designing and the overall performance of the vehicle.

The exterior of the 2016 Honda Fit looks very similar to the new HR-V model they are launching. Starting off with the grille, it is generally the same shape with the grille starting off from the end of one headlight to the end of the other headlight. The Honda logo is placed at the middle of the grille, which is also very standard. Next, we can see the silver bar placed on the bottom of the grille is curved causing it to look like it is smiling, which maintains the theme of the vehicle, friendliness.

Taking a look at the interior designing, we can see the centre console seems to be pretty user-friendly since there aren’t many functions on it. There will be a touch screen placed in the middle as well which will control functions like the navigation, audio, Bluetooth, and climate control. The seats seem like they are made of a cheap material which is expected with this car. In terms of space, the Fit could improve a lot. Just because of the limited space inside of the vehicle, a lot of drivers out there will be restricted from driving a car like this.

Under the hood, we can see Honda uses a 1.3-litre incline four-cylinder engine which will be able to push 130 horsepower and 100 pound-feet of torque. They will also be offering a 1.5-litre power unit which will be able to push 130 horsepower and 114 pound-feet of torque. They will also be offering a hybrid version, in combination with an electric motor it will be able to push 150 horsepower.

The 2016 Honda Fit is clearly an awesome car for certain drivers out there, it definitely isn’t for everyone. However, for those who the vehicle is “fit” for, they will absolutely love it with the newly designed exterior and the user-friendly centre console platform inside. In addition to both of that, they would also love the fact that it doesn’t eat too much gas which will save them a lot of money!

Power and Performance:

The 2016 Honda Fit features a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine generating 130 horsepower and 114 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard on LX and EX models, while a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) is optional on those trims and mandatory on the EX-L and EX-L with Navi.

During Edmunds testing, an EX-L with Navi ran from zero to 60 mph in 8.8 seconds, a quicker than average sprint for the subcompact segment.

Interiors and Special Features:

The 2016 Fit should be a good fit indeed for most people, though long-legged drivers may wish for more legroom and steering-wheel reach. Every trim level provides a modern-looking dashboard and satisfactory materials quality for this segment. Standard items like USB connectivity and Bluetooth streaming audio help distinguish the current Fit from its more Spartan predecessors. A standard 5-inch color infotainment display adds to the contemporary feel, with an upgraded 7-inch touchscreen included on the EX and EX-L trims.
