Quick Look

With the 2016 Honda CR-V being one of Honda’s best sellers, they have decided to add in a few improvements to ensure it is kept up-to-date.

Full Review

The Honda CR-V has always been a great crossover, as it is always considered to be reliable because of its performance, safety features, and good looks. This year’s addition to the line-up has some minor adjustments made to it which will definitely catch the attention of a lot of crossover drivers out there. This crossover originally debuted in 1995, and ever since then they have been exceeding all expectations.

The exterior of the CR-V looks pretty identical to last year’s model as they have not made any changes to the framework of the crossover. Starting off with the grille, it stretches from one headlight to the other in an almost smiling-looking design causing the crossover to come across as friendly to its surroundings. The headlights, which start off at the ends of the grille are also the same shape as last year’s model however this year they power the outline of it with LED lighting. This allows it to uphold its modern and stylish look drivers are now looking for. However the drawback of this is that it looks very similar to the new Audi Q5 lighting design which does not help it differentiate itself at night. The rear view of the crossover doesn’t seem too different as well as they keep the same shape for their tail lights and designs used on the cargo door.

The interior of the crossover looks absolutely great! Honda does a fine job of creating a perfect transition for drivers and passengers as they enter the CR-V. The centre console is very user-friendly and does not cause any confusion as all functions are perfectly visible for drivers. The infotainment system controls most functions of the vehicle including the music, Bluetooth, climate control, and the navigation system. However the navigation screen is separate from the infotainment, which is located right on top of it. The material used for the dashboard and seats are stellar, especially for the price Honda is tagging these crossover at. In terms of space, the 2016 Honda CR-V allows for ample legroom and headroom for both drivers and passengers. This space will be appreciated by those drivers with “seat-kickers” in the backseats.

Under the hood, Honda uses an inline four-cylinder 2.4 litre direct injected “Earth Dreams” engine which produces 185 horsepower and 163 pound-feet of torque. The engine is powered by a CVT dual-clutch transmission. In terms of fuel efficiency, the crossover has major improvements done to the engines to have drivers save a lot more money on gas. The CR-V requires about 7.4 litres for it to drive 100 kilometres in both the city and highway.

The 2016 Honda CR-V has yet again exceeded all expectations set for it impressing many more drivers out there. The vehicle is able to deliver on a lot of aspects drivers look for in crossovers, however like everything else in the world, it isn’t perfect. Imperfection is what helps this model improve year after year.
