Quick Look

The 2016 Ford Mustang has gotten a few minor updates which assist it to be a better sports car overall, and ultimately satisfying its drivers.

Full Review

The 2016 Ford Mustang has done astounding in the past, in terms of popularity and sales. However, Ford needs to give other drivers a reason to go out of their way to purchase one for themselves. This effort has been put into the new Ford Mustang model. Even though alterations made to it were minor, they go a long way when it comes to the experience the drivers will have in this sports car.

The exterior of the car looks absolutely stellar with a sleek and stylish look to cater for its target market. The headlights are powered by LED lighting but designed in a very unique way. Instead of the outline or standard bulb, the lights are coming for three diagonal lines coming from the shape. These lines almost look like gashes slit on the sports car, giving it a very unique and handsome look. The grille is not much different from its previous model. It has a very large opening accompanied by the two bars at the ends of it. It is also accompanied by the Mustang logo, not the Ford logo. Since Mustang feels like their model is not similar to the Ford models, they have built their own brand around the Mustang name. The Mustang logo on the grille is also very hard to see as it is the same colour as its background, black. The fog lights are also powered by LED lighting and are located right where they should be, under the headlights. The sports car is only available in two-doors which is expected. The rear view is just as nice as the front. The tail lights have a very familiar style with blinking lights for its turn signals. This unique feature has attracted many drivers on the road to take a second look at the car.

The interior is a great complement to the exterior designing, as it gives off the same vibes the exterior does. The centre console is very unprofessional-looking with buttons scattered all around it. The fact that the display screen, which is the visual representation of the functions the infotainment system offers, is very small. The material used for the dash board and seats are pretty high quality, since sports cars require a very comfortable driving experience for its drivers. In terms of space, there is more than enough for drivers and front-seat passengers, however when it comes to the rear-seat passengers, they will most probably be very uncomfortable as there is barely any legroom.

Under the hood, Ford offers a new engine. This is a 3.7-litre V6 engine and is able to produce 300 horsepower. Ford also offers a couple other engines for drivers, including the 5.0-litre V8 engine which is able to produce 435 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. With this engine, the sports car would be able to hit 100 kilometers/hour in about 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of about 250 km/h. In terms of fuel efficiency, the Mustang requires about 12.4 litres to drive 100 kilometres on the highway and about 8.4 litres to drive 100 kilometres in the city.

The 2016 Ford Mustang is a great car but the only problem is that it does not cater to most drivers out there. There are only a specific group of people who would absolutely love the features and looks it offers, despite the drawbacks it has.

Power and Performance:

The rear-wheel-drive Mustang is offered with either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters. Three engines are available.

A 3.7-liter V6 engine with 300 hp and 280 pound-feet of torque is standard on the base Mustang. According to EPA fuel economy estimates, it should return 21 mpg combined (17 city/28 highway) with the manual and 22 mpg combined (19/28) with the automatic.

Interiors and Special Features:

The 2016 Ford Mustang's interior pays homage to Mustangs past with retro touches like a dual-cowl dashboard, but it also offers nearly all of the latest conveniences. Even the base Mustang comes standard with unexpected niceties like keyless entry and ignition, a rearview camera (a relief given the car's poor rear visibility) and Track Apps (for measuring lap times and such). Also standard is the Sync voice command system, which greatly simplifies the operation of audio and phone functions. The available Sync 3 touchscreen infotainment system is new to the market, but it shows promise relative to its controversial MyFord Touch predecessor, providing a simplified interface with smartphone-style pinching and swiping gestures.

Safety features:

Standard safety features for the 2016 Ford Mustang include antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control, a rearview camera, front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags (coupe only) and a driver knee airbag. Also standard are Ford's MyKey parental controls and (for manual-transmission models) hill-start assist.

Optional on EcoBoost Premium and GT Premium are adaptive cruise control with forward collision alert and a blind-spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alert.
