Quick Look

Ford is bringing back the Escape with some new updates, and it looks great so far. They seem to really be working on things that will really entice new drivers to go for the Escape as their next SUV.

Full Review

The new 2016 looks like a whole new SUV even though Ford has only made a few minor changes to the exterior designing. With these new changes, Ford is anticipating a push in sales from more families as there are now a lot more features and functions that both the parents and kids will love. Not only did Ford make alterations to the exterior design and add in cool new features, they have also worked on their performance with their engine by tweaking it up a bit and working on the fuel economy for it.

The exterior look of the new 2016 Ford Escape looks a lot different than its previous model. This new design made to it makes the SUV look a lot more futuristic and sleek. Starting off with the grille, they have made the length of it the same size as the length of the Ford logo, making the logo a perfect fit inside the grille. The headlights are off to the side of the grille, like usual. However, they are separated by a slanted bar on both sides of the grille. The headlights are a big change as they are now a lot slimmer. Other than the new shape, the newly designed headlights will also be powered by LED lighting.

Taking a look at the interior look of the new 2016 Ford Escape, we can see Ford has done a great job of making sure they blended the interior perfectly with the exterior’s theme, so the transition between looking at the vehicle from the outside and stepping into it. The centre console looks pretty user-friends, which a lot of drivers really appreciate nowadays since these very new and futuristic cars go above and beyond with their functions and functions they offer. The screen is placed inside the dashboard, it looks like it is being sheltered from how they designed it. They may have gone with this design so the screen doesn’t catch any glare or reflection from the sun. In terms of space, Ford has done a great job of making sure they maintain the ample space they offer drivers and passengers with the Escape.

Under the hood, we can see Ford uses a 2.4-litre EcoBoost inline-four-cylinder engine which will be able to push 168 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. Another engine they will be offering with other trims is a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine which will be able to push 178 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. Both of these engines will be powered by a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The new 2016 Ford Escape is a great car overall and it would be loved by not only the parents driving it, but also the kids in the back! With a redesigned exterior and interior look, and a different engine, the new SUV is anticipated to do very well when it hits the market.

Power and Performance:

The 2016 Ford Escape offers no fewer than three engines, with availability dependent on trim. A six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive (FWD) are standard across the board, while all trims but the S are available with all-wheel drive (AWD).

A 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 168 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque is standard on the S and a cost-reducing option on the SE. AWD is not offered with this engine. Fuel economy estimates are 25 mpg combined (22 city/31 highway).

Interiors and Special Features:

Inside the 2016 Ford Escape, you'll find plentiful soft-touch materials and generally impressive fit and finish, though there's not as much storage space for personal items as you might expect. The front seats are well-shaped and generously padded, while the gauges are large and easy to read. Some controls are a little hard to use. You have to reach down low to find the climate-control panel, and the standard audio interface frustrates with its small display screen and sea of similar-looking buttons. More promising is the new Sync 3 system that replaces last year's MyFord Touch interface. We've yet to fully test it, but we expect the system's larger menu icons and quicker processing times will improve the experience substantially.

Safety features:

Antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control, front-seat side airbags, a driver knee airbag and full-length side curtain airbags are standard on the 2016 Ford Escape. Ford's MyKey (enabling owners to set electronic parameters for younger drivers), a rearview camera and blind-spot mirrors are also standard. A blind-spot warning system with cross-traffic alerts is optional on the Titanium via the Technology package.
