Quick Look

Audi has done a great job with their newest addition to the family, the 2016 Audi S3. By making minor changes all around, they are sure to be able to gain a lot more market share than they already have.

Full Review

The new 2016 Audi S3 is an amazing vehicle, since it is the type of car that would be able to cater to a lot of drivers out there. The beauty of this is that on top of how much the features can offer, the car is made by a luxurious company making the car that much more desirable. With the market for small luxury cars increasing, Audi has really taken advantage by making sure their small luxury car line has everything these customers are looking for.

The exterior of the car is really nice and is very identical to a lot of their other models, but of course, is smaller. Starting off with the grille, it is not any different than any other Audi model. They usually always do this, so there is really no surprise here. Same thing goes for their headlights, they have used the same design as they did in the previous year and in every other model they release. However, there is obviously a reason they do this and that may be because of how nice it looks and how well it complements the rest of the exterior designing. Moving to the rear view of the small luxury car, we can see Audi has changed it up a bit by making the lights look a bit different. On top of that, they have also kept their spoiler which make it look a bit sportier than it would without it.

Taking a look at the interior designing, we can see Audi has done a great job in making sure the interior perfectly suits the exterior designing so drivers will be able to have just as good a view as everyone looking at their car from the outside. It looks pretty sporty, especially with the padded-looking steering wheel. The centre console looks to be very user-friendly as it is just a couple of buttons and the screen on the top of the front board. The screen will be controlled through a function located near the gearstick. The material used for the dash board and seats don’t look like they are made from cheap plastic as some vehicles in the market may seem like that. This allows Audi to have a bit of an edge over some of its competitors.

Under the hood, we can see Audi offers a 2.0-litre direct-injected and forced-induction four-cylinder engine which is able to produce 292 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. It is estimated that it will be able to go from 0 kilometres/hour to 100 in about 4.8 seconds and has a top speed of about 250 km/h.

The new 2016 Audi S3 is a great car and will definitely be able to cater to a lot of drivers out there. With a combination of their changes and the attributes they decided to keep, the Audi S3 is really a car these people cannot say no to and ultimately can be considered a threat to a lot of its competitors.

Power and Performance:

The 2016 Audi A3 will soon be available with four different powertrains, not counting the sporty S3 that is treated somewhat as a separate model. The A3 can be had with front-wheel drive as a 1.8T model, with a 170-horsepower, 1.8-liter engine; as a 2.0T quattro (all-wheel-drive) model, with a 220-hp, 2.0-liter engine; with a 2.0-liter TDI diesel making 150 hp and featuring front-wheel drive; and as the yet-to-arrive e-tron plug-in hybrid with a 150-hp 1.4-liter turbo and a 102-hp electric motor.

Interiors and Special Features:

The interior of all A3s and S3s ventures into new aesthetic territory for the brand. The previous generation's somewhat cluttered instrument panel has been completely excised. The layout is focused around a horizontal dash dominated by round vents, with a new screen up high in the center that tucks neatly into the dash when the power is off and reemerges when the car is started—a uniquely German solution to infotainment. A trio of small climate-control knobs and a thin shelf of buttons reside along the dash's midline, while a small, hooded gauge cluster leaves plenty of dash space open.

Safety features:

While the A3 doesn't quite manage five-star ratings in all categories from the federal government (it earns only four for frontal impact and rollover), it has earned Top Safety Pick+ status from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), with top 'good' ratings in all categories of testing—including the tough new small overlap frontal impact test. Those ratings are for the 2015 sedan and are likely to carry over to 2016 four-door models. The Sportback and Carbiolet have not been tested by either the NHTSA or the IIHS, and they may or may not undergo testing in the future.
