The 2015 Mercedes-Benz ML350 expertly blends luxury with ruggedness, which makes it a near-perfect SUV for just about anyone. Those who want a family vehicle can benefit from a comfortable and feature-rich cabin, while those who prefer off-roading trips can make use of the ML350’s 3.5-litre V6 engine that can produce 302 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque.
The 2015 Mercedes-Benz ML350 is first and foremost a luxury vehicle, which means that it delivers a superb cabin experience – with superior comfort levels and tons of features. This, of course, doesn’t mean that the ML350 has forgotten to be what it really is – a full-size SUV. It’s still a rugged off-roader that can take on rough terrains with relative ease, if that’s desirable. Now, it probably won’t be used for these purposes due to its relatively high price, but that’s a whole different story.
On the outside, the 2015 ML350 is for all intents and purposes Mercedes-Benz – there’s no mistaking for any other vehicle, especially from the front. It features a traditional grille that contains with the renowned three-pointed star in the centres. Sleek headlights and sculpted lines on the sides complement the grille rather nicely by adding to the overall sporty appearance. At the back, the car’s squat shape and horizontal taillights do the same thing, while giving the whole package a very practical feeling. Unlike the ML350, the high-performing ML63 AMG models come with a larger air intake at the front, wider front fenders and quad tailpipes at the back – to reflect the obvious bump in performance.
Inside, the SUV is sports graceful design along with soft-touch materials, wood accents and other goodies. It’s exactly what you would expect from a luxury vehicle like this. That said, you do get quasi-leather called "MB-Tex" instead of regular leather for standard upholstery – though you can always switch to real leather, if you want to. Generally speaking, you can feel luxury just about everywhere here – from the optional wood steering wheel to the little gear selector that sits on the steering-wheel column as opposed to the centre console. At the back, passengers get plenty of legroom, along with reclining seats and optional twin-LCD screens within the front-seat headrests. The vehicle can fit five passengers in total, but if you want the rear occupants to feel comfortable, we recommend reducing that number to four.
Under the hood, the new Mercedes-Benz ML350 comes with a 3.5-litre V6 engine that can generate 302 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. It’s the only M-Class model to offer rear-wheel drive, since the rest of the models are all-wheel-drive only. The engine is mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission, which allows for very smooth handling that’s especially evident when you’re traversing rugged terrains. The ML350 is not the most powerful vehicle on offer in this lineup, but it’s good enough to justify its high price (more or less).
Overall, the 2015 Mercedes-Benz ML350 gets a lot of things right as an SUV. Our only issue with the vehicle is its $60,000 price tag that doesn’t quite match what’s on offer. It’s all excellent without a doubt, but if you’re looking for a pure off-roader, then we recommend checking out something cheaper instead, like the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

|Power and Performance:|
Each Mercedes-Benz M-Class model gets its own engine mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission. The ML350 with its V6 engine is the only model available with rear-wheel drive. The new ML250 BlueTEC offers up fuel-efficient diesel power, while the new ML400 provides a twin turbocharged V6 for those looking for more than the standard V6 offers. Then there's the ML63 AMG with its twin-turbocharged V8 engine and sports-car-like acceleration. The new 4-cylinder diesel and twin-turbo V6 are lower on power than the 6-cylinder diesel and V8 engines they replace, but both offer much better fuel economy than those engines as well. How much better? The twin-turbo V6 in the ML400 actually tops the less powerful ML350 in the city, and ties it on the highway. Ain't technology great?

|Interiors and Special Features:|
Elegantly designed and filled with soft-touch materials and wood accents, the 2015 M-Class interior is exactly what you'd expect in a luxury vehicle. Interestingly, leather seats are extra, but the standard "MB-Tex" vinyl is a close enough approximation. That sense of luxury extends to just about every component, whether it's the available wood steering wheel or the tiny gear selector mounted on the steering-wheel column instead of the center console. Rear passengers relax with ample legroom, reclining seats and movies of their choice with the optional twin-LCD screens mounted inside the front-seat headrests.
