Quick Look

The 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan is a minivan that was built with only one purpose – to satisfy families with its wide array of features, decent design and relatively impressive performance. If there is one aspect that brings this one down, it would be the lack of fuel economy, but given its hefty size, that should be expected.

Full Review

The 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan is yet another highly functional minivan from Chrysler, which delivers decent interior design, fine performance and a plethora of useful features. That being said, don’t get used to the idea of the Grand Caravan sticking around for too long, because it won’t. Chrysler is removing the minivan from its lineup to boost the sales of the Chrysler Town and Country, so this model will probably be the last one!

The 2015 Dodge Caravan is not the most stylish vehicle out there, but that’s not necessarily because it looks bad – it’s just plain. However, if you’re willing to overlook the boring exterior, you’ll find that it’s a very functional, family-friendly minivan. As expected, you get large sliding side doors, which come with power operation and power-opening windows. Around the back, there’s shaded privacy glass, which helps keep the interior cooler on hot summer days. If you get a higher trim level, your rear-most glass panels will have an opening, venting function. For practical reasons, the Grand Caravan comes with the Stow `n Place roof-rack system, but that’s not all since top of that you also get rotating roof-rack crossbars that can be hidden in the side rails. They certainly don’t do anything to improve the looks of the car, but they are highly functional, which is all that should matter anyway.

On the inside, the new Dodge Grand Caravan is actually much, much handsomer than it is on the outside. That’s probably because you and your passengers will spend most of your time within the cabin rather than outside anyway. You get an instrument panel with soft-touch surfaces, comprehensive instrument cluster with chrome bezels and eye-catching ambient lighting. Looking for storage? You’re in luck, because the Grand Caravan is choke-full of storage areas. And if you go for the R/T model, you will get even more of it, thanks to an extra-large console between the front seats. The minivan’s renowned Stow `n Go system allows the second-row seats to fold completely into wells in the floor, but if they are up, you can use the wells be used to store stuff – if whatever the car already offers isn’t enough.

Under the hood, 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan has a Pentastar 3.6-litre V6 engine, which produces 283 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. On top of power, the engine provides remarkable smoothness and responsiveness, while being combined with a six-speed automatic transmission. Gear-shifting is as smooth as ever, and, unlike in certain other automobile, it does not try to “figure out” the right gear every time the transmission makes a switch. Fuel economy is not too great, but it’s not awful – especially given this minivan’s hefty size.

Overall, the 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan is definitely no pushover, so if a good family vehicle is what’s on your mind, then give this one a try. This model may very well be the last of its kind!

Power and Performance:

All models of the 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan are powered by the Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 engine of 283 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. It's a remarkable powerplant and delivers smoothness, response, plenty of power and noteworthy fuel economy. It's matched with a 6-speed automatic transmission that delivers smooth shift action and, unlike some other transmissions in other vehicles, doesn't have the annoying characteristic of continually "hunting" for the correct gear. Finally, the V6 is E85-compatible, so it can operate on blends of gasoline and ethanol.

Interiors and Special Features:

A minivan makes friends with its interior, and the 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan wins lots of friends. Facing the driver is a handsome instrument panel with soft-touch surfaces, detailed instrument clusters with chrome bezels, and attractive ambient lighting. There is storage apparently everywhere, but the R/T model adds an extra-large console between the front seats. Adding versatility is the Grand Caravan's Stow `n Go system, which allows folding the 2nd-row seats completely into wells in the floor or, with the seats up, those deep wells can be used to store even more of the stuff of family travel.
