The 2015 Chevrolet Impala is a better car than the previous versions in just about every way imaginable. This large sedan offers better fuel economy, more space and more advanced tech features, making it one of the most desirable vehicles in this segment. Its 3.6-litre V6 engine is particularly powerful, being able to produce 305 horsepower and 264 pound-feet of torque, while delivering the fuel efficiency of 14.8L/100km city and 9.7L/100km hwy.
The 2015 Chevrolet Impala is most definitely an improvement over the last year’s model, delivering more features, better looks and nimbler handling. This large sedan shares its platform with the Buick LaCrosse, just like the Cadillac XTS, which means that it’s a large and athletic vehicle overall that should satisfy more than a few potential car buyers out there.
On the outside, the 2015 Impala is nothing like the boring model from the year before. This chunky four-door sedan-type vehicle boasts serious presence thanks to its long hood, chiseled front end and long, sloped roof. At the front you’ll find low-profile projector-beam headlights. However, top-line LTZ models come with HID headlights and LED daytime running lights, making the whole thing even more upscale. Contemporary luxury rules the day here, which gets enhanced by a selection of 18-, 19- and 20-inch wheels.
On the inside, the Impala almost feel like a luxury vehicle, with attractive and upscale materials and a well-designed large dash. The upper-trim models also come with leather seats, soft trim and an eight-inch touchscreen system that sits in the centre dash. Unlike its competitors, the Impala doesn’t have too many touch-oriented controls. For instance, settings for climate, volume, fan speed and so on can all be easily changed with buttons and dials.
The front seats comfortable and attractive, while rear-seat legroom is excellent. And in terms of cargo space, you get 18.8 cubic feet of that – or 10 cubic feet if you go for the CNG model.
When it comes to engine, the new Chevy Impala offer three choices, all of which transfer power to the front wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. The base engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder, which essentially the fuel-saving option in the lineup with its start-stop to turn off the engine at idle. The more powerful offering is a 3.6-litre V6 that can produce 305 horsepower, with fuel efficiency of fuel efficiency of 14.8 litres per 100 kilometres in the city and 9.7 litres per 100 kilometres on the highway. And new to the 2015 model year is a modified version of the V6 that uses regular unleaded gasoline or compressed natural gas. The tank for the latter option sits in the trunk, slightly reducing your cargo area, which you should definitely take into account when examining various trim levels.
In general, the 2015 Chevrolet Impala is even better than its predecessor, which was a great car in its own right. You get almost everything you need with this family sedan. Even its $30,000 sticker price is a good offer. Definitely don’t pass this one up – your family will love it!

Three engine choices are available in the 2015 Chevy Impala family sedan, all transferring power to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission. The base engine is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder. This powerplant aims to be the fuel-saver with its start-stop to turn off the engine at idle. The more robust offering is a 3.6-liter V6 that makes over 300 horsepower. New this year is a modified version of the V6 that runs on regular unleaded gasoline or compressed natural gas. The tank for the latter is in the trunk, cutting into cargo space. CNG range is expected to be 150 miles, after which the car switches to gasoline for an estimated total range of 500 miles. Drivers can also manually select fuel source.

The 2015 Chevrolet Impala may be considered a mainstream vehicle, but inside it feels more like a premium or even luxury sedan. Cabin materials are attractive and upscale. The large dash is notable for its flowing, well-executed design. Upper-trim models boast leather seats, soft trim and an 8-inch touch-screen command system in the center dash. Unlike some rivals, Chevy's big sedan doesn't feel the need to make all controls touch-oriented. Settings for climate, volume, fan speed and the like are easily changed with buttons and dials. The 2015 Chevrolet Impala comes with a long list of standard and available safety features, bringing it up to snuff with the competition.
If there's a quibble with the Impala's safety package, it comes down to two features we think are essential on family cars, given the competition and given how most drivers can use help in driving more safely. Bluetooth is standard on the V-6 car, but not on the base LS; likewise, a rearview camera's an option on the Impala LT, and only standard once you've moved up to the LTZ. Visibility's fine, but side-view and surround cameras are becoming the norm on cars like the less expensive Honda Accord.
