Quick Look

In a world where efficiency is king and downsizing is the norm, Cadillac is introducing a totally redesigned Escalade. In fact, the 2015 version of this luxury SUV promises to give well-heeled customers an even more opulent interior, a better on road experience, all without sacrificing the characteristic brashness and bold design that makes an Escalade, an Escalade. Is the 2015 Cadillac Escalade more than just a pretty face? Lets find out.

Full Review

As a full-size SUV, Cadillac Escalades tussles with some pretty tough competition, rivals include vehicles like the Mercedes-Benz GL, the Land Rover Range Rover, and the Lexus LX 570. Luxury customers expect the world and the Cadillac Escalade promises to deliver. Check out the specs!

The 2015 Cadillac Escalade features a massive 6.2-litre eight-cylinder engine which pumps out a roaring 420-horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. All of this power is hooked up to a six-speed automatic transmission and features all kinds of advanced technology including aluminum construction, direct fuel injection, cylinder deactivation, and a compression ratio of 11.5:1. The end result is an impressive sounding acceleration that causes an alarmingly high amount of excitement.

The most fuel efficient version of the 2015 Escalade, which is the standard front-wheel-drive model, receives an EPA rating of 15.68 L/100km city and 11.2 L/100km highway. On the opposite side of the spectrum we have the ESV four-wheel-drive model which clocks in at 16.8 L/100km city and 11.76 L/100km highway. These numbers may not be “green,” but don’t forget that they are quite competitive for the luxury SUV class.

When it comes to interiors Cadillac has really stepped up its game over the past few years. Look at the new ATS, the new CTS, the XTS sedan, they all have excellent cabins, and the 2015 Escalade is no exception. Matching its bold exterior, Escalade passengers are treated to an extremely opulent interior. Almost all the surfaces in this SUV’s cabin are soft leather that are squishy to the touch and hand-sewn. This is a truly world class cabin.

Other features included in the 2015 Cadillac Escalade include a very large centre console with a number of storage cubbies and a very cool new hidden cubby that sits behind the entertainment system.  Beyond that the instrument cluster has been replaced by a massive 12.38-inch digital display which actually allows you to customize how the instruments look and there are four separate layouts you can choose from.

Of course, the 2015 Cadillac Escalade is a big SUV and you get three rows of seats. The second row chairs are pretty comfortable but the third row is definitely for children only. To sum up the inside of the 2015 Escalade, it’s big pimpin’.

Cadillac claims that the 2015 Escalade will go from 0-60 in less than six seconds. However, this vehicle weighs more than three tonnes and we must say that it just doesn’t leap off the start line.

The 2015 Cadillac Escalade is a luxury SUV that you must consider if you’re looking for a beautiful car with more power than you’ll ever need. Check it out today to see what the excitement is all about!

Power and Performance:

The 2015 Cadillac Escalade offers startling straight-line performance for a truly full-size, 6,000-pound SUV. Like the GL63 and supercharged Range Rover, it's capable of dashing off 0-60 mph times of about 6.0 seconds, while it's also equipped to tow more than 7,900 pounds.

The Escalade's sole engine is a 420-horsepower, 6.2-liter V-8 engine that produces 460 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. From the same family as the newest version of the 5.3-liter V-8 found in the Chevy Suburban and Tahoe and GMC Yukon, it's a smooth, powerful piece that's also trimmed out with cylinder deactivation and direct injection.

Interiors and Special Features:

Since it was new in the go-go Nineties, the Cadillac Escalade's been the sheetmetal equivalent of the power tie. Bold and big and of course, furrowed with plastichrome, the 'Slade has taken two generations to refine its class act into something less temporal and more enduring.

It's finally there. That plastichrome's somewhat toned down, but it's overpowered in any case by the Escalade's flat-pressed panels, more vertical pillars, and most of all, the stacked LED lighting that recreates the drama of classic Caddy fins without the bawdy overtones. It's sophisticated and crisp from nose to tail, where huge LED taillights bracket the tailgate like those on a Volvo wagon, where the Cadillac wreath-and-crest badge gets its own LED illumination.

Safety features:

Neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has crash-tested the new Escalade, but given the strong performance of GM's new trucks, we're counting on equally impressive crash ratings for the Cadillac SUV.

In part, it's due to a raft of safety features brought for the first time into the Escalade. The new SUV comes with a new airbag placed between the front seats; it's designed to protect passengers' heads from colliding in an accident. The Escalade also offers automatic braking, which first warns the driver of impending collisions via signals from short-range radar (for higher speeds) and ultrasonic sensors at lower speeds, then applies the brakes as it attempts to prevent an accident.
