The 2015 Audi S8 is one of the most expensive and well-designed sedans on the market. It comes with an excellent 4.0-litre engine, classy cabin and a revamped body that looks even slicker than last year.

The 2015 Audi S8 is basically A8’s high-performance cousin, which comes with an upgraded body, powerhouse engine and plenty of special features to choose from. This sedan is definitely not for everyone, carrying the price of $131,400, which is even more expensive than the A8 model. It’s a luxury vehicle through-and-through that you’re far less likely to own than your realize – even if you do have that much cash lying around. Still there’s nothing stopping us from examining it, so let’s take a look, shall we?

The body has received a very noticeable redesign, which has given the car a sportier look that appropriately matches its outrageous power output. First off, its signature single-frame grille with angular corners and headlights no longer feature the last year model’s ugly waveform design, which is a blessing. Additionally, the chin of the front apron is now more pronounced thanks to larger air intakes on each side. And finally, the hood now also features a set of new creases, which give the car a bit more “edge.”

Audi has done some work on the headlights as well, which come with standard LED and optional Matrix LED tech. Thanks to the upgrades, each headlamp now contains 25 LEDs to allow individual diodes to be dimmed separately. Paired with a smart cornering system, these headlights can readjust the lighting to suit the road conditions. Taillights have endured a few changes too, featuring a much smoother and more angular design. Overall, the 2015 S8 is a fantastic-looking vehicle, though we’re inclined to believe that the new Porsche Panamera looks a touch better thanks to its more aerodynamic look.

In contrast, things haven’t changed too much from 2014 on the inside, which isn’t a bad thing at all. The cabin is still one of the best on the market, featuring better standard equipment than any vehicle on the market, including those produced by Mercedes and BMW. If there’s one addition to the cabin that stands out, it would be the black/Vermont brown design option with Carbon twill copper inlays. All-in-all, Audi keeps things classy, as always, so you won’t find much to complain about here – it’s definitely worth the money.

However, the sedan truly shines under the hood, featuring a 4.0-litre TFSI V-8 engine, which is the exact same piece of equipment as in the 2014 model. Once again, this isn’t an issue since that powertrain was a beast when it came to power. The engine can produce 520 horsepower, using the same eight-speed automated manual transmission as last year. It can accelerate to 100-km/h mark in 4.2 seconds, which is incredible for a car of this size.

So, if you’re looking for an expensive luxury vehicle that would satisfy you in every aspect imaginable, there’s no better vehicle for that than the 2014 Audi S8. In other words, be sure to try it out – even if you’re never, ever planning to own it in the first place.

Power and Performance:

The 2015 Audi S8 carries the same 4.0-liter TFSI V-8 engine that the 2014 model had. This powerplant pumps out 520 horsepower — same as 2014 — and hooks up to the quattro AWD system through what we assume is the same eight-speed automated manual transmission from last year.

This is enough to rocket this sedan to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.2 seconds — 60 mph likely comes in the same 3.9 seconds as the 2014 model — and up to a top speed of 155 mph. The average (combined) fuel consumption is set at 23.29 mpg on the European cycle, while CO2 emissions come in at just 235 grams per 100 km. These phenomenal numbers come courtesy of Audi ’s Cylinder on Demand (COD) system, which knocks the V-8 system down to a 2.0-liter four-cylinder when you do not need the power. Additionally, the COD helps keep the cabin noise to a minimum, along with Audi’s Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), at cruising speeds.

Interiors and Special Features:

Audi didn’t dive too deeply into the interior features on the 2015 S8, but from the looks of things, this will carry over from last year. We examined the differences between the 2014 S8 and this new model, but no differences really popped out at us.

Carrying over is not a bad thing for the S8, as the 2014 rendition featured a cabin that was unmatched in the market, plus standard equipment that Bimmer and Mercedes wouldn’t even think about adding without charging a fee, like standard leather seating and a premium audio system.

One item that looks to be an addition for the 2015 S8 is the black/Vermont brown design selection with Carbon twill copper inlays. From the looks of the images, this is what the press car features. It is evident by the twill accents on the door panels and the overall upscale look of the cabin.

Safety features:

A gamut of driver aids including adaptive cruise control with stop-start assist, lane guidance, and pedestrian and animal alert and collision avoidance enhance safety and take the stress out of long drives, particularly in inclement weather.
