Full Review

The Audi A7 is somewhat of a confusing vehicle. It is referred to as a four-door coupe, sometimes as a hatchback, but to the untrained eye looks mostly like a slick sedan. The nice thing for this vehicle is that it doesn’t really matter what you call it, but what does matter is that this car is sleek, sophisticated and powerful. The A7 was first introduced into the Audi lineup in 2010 and is now on its way into the fifth year in the current generation. Despite its aging generation, the A7 managed to stay relevant and competitive with the tweaks that Audi has made over the years. New for 2015 are upgrades to the interior, better safety features and full LED headlights and a heads-up display on top-level trims. The A7 is available in two trim levels, known as the Premium Plus and Prestige. The A7 has a long list of features that are sure to fill the demands of most luxury sport car shoppers, with its distinct design, refined interior and powerful yet efficient engine. Audi makes a lot of promises with this vehicle, but the A7 delivers on each and every one of them.

It is not very difficult to distinguish an Audi A7 on the road thanks to its distinct look and unique design cues that make this vehicle a true visual specimen. While it may be up for debate as to what segment this car belongs to, there is one thing for certain – it looks good. With the dramatically-sloping roofline, signature Audi hexagonal grille and four interlocking rings, the face of the Audi A7 has never looked better. The available new LED lights highlight Audi’s commitment to luxury, while the wide and low stance proves that this really is a sports car. The lines are curvy and fine detailing can be found throughout the body of the vehicle that prove Audi’s keen attention to detail. Standard features on the Premium Plus include automatic bi-xenon headlights, LED running lights and taillights, a power liftgate, automatic wipers, a sunroof as well as front and rear parking sensors; the Prestige just adds adaptive LED headlights. There are also some packages and stand-alone features that can be added to this vehicle to improve its look and functionality.

Audi has really made a name for itself with the design, refinement and overall luxuriousness of its cabins and nothing has changed in that regard for the A7. The cabin of the A7 is a beautiful space for both the driver and passenger. The materials found throughout are top-of-the-line, while the build quality is impeccable. The seats in the A7 are sophisticated and comfortable, and legroom is ample throughout the cabin. While the car does fit five people as promised, the headspace in the rear is quite tight due to the sloping roofline. Cargo space is 24.5 cubic feet and very easily accessible thanks to the hatchback design that enables easy loading. Standard features in the A7 include four-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery and heated, eight-way adjustable seats.

The technology that is available in the Audi A7 is sophisticated and advanced and a lot of it comes standard. The infotainment system is known as the Multi Media Interface or MMI, which runs all of the different features that are available on this car. The long list includes Bluetooth audio and phone, a rearview camera, a navigation system with voice controls and a 10-speaker audio system all displayed on an eight-inch touchscreen. Audi even takes its tech specs to the next level by offering Audi Connect, which includes 3G data connectivity that turns the car into a WiFi hotspot for up to eight devices as well as Google Earth data for the navigation system.

The Audi A7 offers a choice of two engines. The first is a supercharged 3.0-litre V6 that is gasoline-powered and generates 310 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. The diesel-powered turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 TDI engine produces 240 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque. Both engines come paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

Overall, the 2015 Audi A7 is a beautiful car that makes a lot of promises in what it offers buyers, but is able to follow through on all of them. A perfect combination of luxury, sport power and efficiency, the Audi A7 should not be overlooked.

Interiors and Special Features:

Those who are familiar with Audi's interior design will likely be more than content with the A7's interior. It's handsomely designed and tightly constructed, with excellent materials quality. Audi's familiar Multi Media Interface (MMI) infotainment system controls audio, communication and navigation functions via a dash-mounted pop-up screen and a knob and buttons on the center console. The system boasts logical menus, crisp graphics and a touchpad to increase functionality, and after a short time it seems relatively intuitive. BMW's iDrive or Mercedes' COMAND are a bit easier to use, however, for the less technology-oriented customer.
