Get up-to-date and accurate information on the 2014 Honda Fit. This funky-looking yet absolutely loveable hatchback that comes with a fantastic engine, impressive fuel economy, solid safety features and sizeable cargo space.

Lo and behold the fourth-generation 2014 Honda Fit – a funky-looking, five-door hatchback that competes with the likes of Ford Fiesta, Chevrolet Sonic, Nissan Versa Note, Mazda 2 and Hyundai Accent. Its predecessor was beloved by many, especially here in Canada, thanks to its impressively large cargo space (for a vehicle this size) and many other notable features. The first major upgrade that will jump right out at you is the 2014 Fit’s new appearance. If you thought the previous model looked strange, get ready for something even stranger, or as Honda puts it, “EXCITING H DESIGN!!!” The brand has decided to get rid of the plain Jane body panels in favour of more rigid sheet-metal surfaces, giving the car more muscle. It’s still a hatchback at heart – but it’s slightly edgier now. Inside, Honda has given the 2014 Fit a total makeover, endowing the interior space with futuristic shapes and a wide array of configuration features. For example, the back seat can fold into a multitude of different positions, including backward and forward. It’s also possible to create a low, flat cargo space for taller objects like a mountain bike or furniture. In general, the back area is very spacious for such a relatively small car. The Fit features a 117-horsepower, 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine that comes with a standard manual gearbox, but can also have a five-speed automatic transmission. The automatic models feature paddle shifters, an optional touch navigation system and superior audio connectivity. There’s also the Fit Hybrid version, which has an Atkinson-cycle 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine along with a high-functioning electric motor and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Like in the last year’s model, the motor is situated between the engine and transmission, but with the inclusion of a lithium-ion battery to improve fuel economy. However, it’s unlikely that this model will appear in North America. And speaking of fuel economy – it’s one of the 2014 Fit’s greatest strengths. The Hybrid version has achieved 2.7 litres per 100 kilometres on the Japanese test cycle, meaning that even the least fuel-efficient Fit will save you some money on gas. So, if fuel economy is one of the most attractive features to you, then this car is definitely what you’re looking for. In a nutshell, the 2014 Honda Fit is here to fulfill your every need – it’s fast, efficient, comfortable and pretty to look at. If you’re a fan of hatchbacks, then you’d be doing yourself a disservice by not test-driving this hunk of awesomeness.

The 2014 Honda Fit is a relatively small vehicle that may not look like much on the outside, but offers plenty of space on the inside. Thanks to something called the Magic Seat, the back seats can fold into multiple different positions – including forward and backward – and create a low, flat cargo floor to accommodate taller cargo items like mountain bikes or furniture. Since this is a hatchback, it’s very reminiscent of the Chevrolet Sonic, Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Accent, Nissan Versa Note and Toyota Yaris in terms of overall appearance. The third-generation Fit has received attention for its unconventional yet loveable design, and this fourth-generation Fit continues the tradition with pride. The difference here is that there is a bit more “edge” to the look thanks to more focused sheet-metal surfaces.

Power and Performance:The 2014 Honda Fit packs plenty of power with its 117-horsepower, 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine that comes either with a standard manual gearbox or a five-speed automatic transmission. The automatic models also come with paddle shifters to provide that “sporty” feeling, which goes hand-in-hand with its sportier look. One of the biggest perks of owning a 2014 Honda Fit, however, will be its fuel economy. Even the weakest link, as far as fuel economy is concerned, has scored highly in the tests – the Hybrid has managed to get the fuel economy rating of 2.7 litres per 100 kilometres, which is very impressive.
Interiors and Special Features:The 2014 Honda Fit can contain up to five people and plenty of additional items – thanks to the model’s expansive cargo space. The features to look out for are the 60/40 Split back-row Magic Seat, six-speaker sound system and a wide array of various infotainment options.
Safety features:The 2014 Honda Fit has very strong safety features, just like its predecessors, which shined in this area as well. Aside from standard front-impact and side-impact airbags, the car comes with overhead airbags for extra safety. Features like stability control, anti-whiplash and a security system that senses unwanted vehicle intrusion are also available.
