The 2014 Chrysler Town and Country is the more luxurious cousin of its corporate twin, the Dodge Grand Caravan. It has a lot of standard features and the seat storing system is very accommodating. This minivan is very family friendly with features like rear-seat DVD entertainment system, USB port, and a dual-screen rear seat Blu-ray entertainment system. The interior contains quality materials that give it a classy and luxurious look.
Every 2014 Chrysler Town & Country comes with a 3.6 L Pentastar V-6 engine that pushes 283 horsepower, making it the most powerful minivan in their class. These minivans are also the heaviest and amongst the least fuel-efficient so there is that tradeoff between power and efficiency. Although powerful, it doesn’t handle as well as other minivans such as the Honda Odyssey. The steering effort is also heavier on the Town & Country. Bumps on the road also transfers vibrations into the cabin quite easily.
An interesting feature in this minivan is the “Stow ‘n Go” seating. Instead of unlatching the seats and carrying them into the garage for storage, they fold into the floor to maximize space. This gives you more space than a Chevy Suburban. The drawback with these seats is that they can't slide back to give more legroom when there's no one in the third row. The seats are also a bit narrow, making the seats easier to stow but are less comfortable. The minivan has three rows of seats, which allows for seven passengers. The “Stow ‘n Go” feature also makes it easier for passengers to climb into the third row.
The different trims available for the 2014 Town & Country are the Touring, Touring-L and Limited. Many features that are offered as an added option on the Dodge Grand Caravan come standard on the Chrysler. These include power windows, power locks and mirrors, power side doors, tailgate and pedals; automatic headlights, garage door opener, power driver seat, and a 115-volt outlet. Leather seats also come standard. One can also add a safety option package, which has parking sensors, blind-spot monitors as well as a rearview camera.
Other options include a sunroof, navigation system, in-car wireless internet, DVD or Blu-Ray DVD entertainment system with an HDMI input and two USB ports for gaming and charging electronics. This allows for an Xbox or Playstation to be hooked up to the in-car displays along with a power supply. Also available is Chrysler’s new MyGIG system, which gives the minivan a 20-gigabyte hard drive for storing music, photos and navigation files.
The Town & Country is a luxury minivan plain and simple. The interior is upscale and refined and the engine packs more punch than your average soccer mom minivan. The van drives more like a car rather than a truck and offers a smooth ride for the most part. The front seats are comfortable, making long trips bearable, especially since the kids will be occupied in the back with a plethora of entertainment possibilities.

| Power and Performance: | The 2014 Chrysler Town & Country is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 rated at 283 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The engine drives the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. EPA-estimated fuel economy is 13.84 L/100km city driving and 9.4 L/100km highway and 11.76 L/100km combined. In Edmunds testing, the Town & Country accelerated from zero to 60 in 8.1 seconds, which is average for the class. Drivers of different heights have observed that the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country's pedals are mounted unusually close to the driver seat, and this, along with limited seat-track travel, restricts legroom and can make this minivan uncomfortable on longer trips. If you can find a good position behind the wheel, you'll find that the big Chrysler drives pretty well, with adequate handling for a minivan and good passing punch from the V6. There's a lot of engine noise under hard acceleration, however, and shifts from the six-speed automatic transmission can be abrupt and even rough at times. We're not overly impressed with the ride quality, either. Compared with the competition, the Chrysler's ride isn't as composed or refined on rough roads. | Interiors and Special Features: | The 2014 Town & Country has seating for seven across three rows. The second row consists of two captain's chairs and the third row is a 3-passenger bench. Both rear rows feature Chrysler's ingenious Stow 'n Go Seating and Storage system that enable the seats to fold entirely into the floor, resulting in a flat cargo area. The 3rd-row seats can also be flipped outward for tailgating. Premium touches include soft-touch trim, chrome-trimmed instrumentation and standard leather on the first two rows. The standard power front seats are supportive yet supple, and top-line trims have power-adjustable pedals that enable drivers of various heights to find a better fit. The Town & Country is available in four trims for 2014: Touring, S, Touring-L, and the top-line Limited. Even at nearly $32,000 a base Touring model offers quite a bit for the money. Along with leather-trimmed seats and a DVD rear-seat entertainment system, this model includes tri-zone climate control, a rearview camera to aid backing up, power front seats, and the Uconnect infotainment system with a 6.5-inch touch screen and 6-speaker audio with a 30-gig hard drive. Top models add features like navigation, a 506-watt sound system, heated 1st- and 2nd-row seats, blind-spot monitoring, and power-folding side mirrors. All models also include seven airbags and a 5-year/100,000-mile roadside-assistance program. Options and packages for the 2014 Town & Country vary by trim, with some, such as navigation, standard on the top model but optional in lower ones. Others offerings include Mopar's Uconnect Web, which turns the minivan into a Wi-Fi hotspot with Internet access, a sunroof (sadly, still not included as standard equipment even on the $42,000-plus Limited model), a power-folding 3rd-row seat, keyless entry, and a blind-spot monitoring system. | Safety features: | Standard on the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country are antilock disc brakes, stability control, active front head restraints, front seat side-impact airbags, a driver knee airbag and full-length side curtain airbags. A rearview camera is also standard. Blind-spot monitoring and a rear cross-path detection system are standard on the Touring-L and Limited. In Edmunds brake testing, the Town & Country came to a stop from 60 mph in 120 feet, an impressive braking distance for a minivan.
