We just bought the 2018 XC 60 T6 Inscription (low KMs) from this dealership.
My question: why aren't there more Volvos on the road?? Our assessment is that if Volvo allowed this dealership to lead the sales effort, there would be a quantum leap in the number of Volvos on the road in Canada.
We have been looking for this vehicle for over one year. we have visited dealerships where it was if the visit never occurred. At Newmarket Volvo, completely the opposite story:
- The person we were supposed to see was busy. Another fellow (Riley) looked after us. - completely. He shared his clearly extensive knowledge about the Volvo XC60 versus the competition. (This fellow clearly LOVES cars.) His assessment of the XC 60 T6 lined up very closely with my research.
- He treated both my wife and me with absolute respect from start to finish.
- Riley accompanied us on a test drive. All the patience in the world, understanding that this was a family purchase and both my wife and I need to be comfortable with this significant purchase. (My wife was dubious about the car before we visited this dealership. Completely sold after that visit.)
- The family owner / President dropped by TWICE to check in on how we were progressing. Not pushy in any way, just clearly very invested in ensuring that our experience was great in every respect.
- We, not they, had to move the conversation forward to "we want to buy this care" from "we are shopping - we will get back to you". (Amusing that the sales "pitch" was so respectful.)
- The person we were supposed to meet (Richard) dropped by during our visit and, with no fuss whatsoever, remarked very quickly "If Riley is serving your needs, then I am fine - carry on Riley" . This is a commission driven world and to see that, there was a family culture of "customer first" was solid.
- The business end of the transaction under Alex's guidance was excellent - we were out of his office in 6 days in 15 minutes when we picked up the car!!
Conclusion - Great ownership, great dealer

Next week I should have delivery of my NEW Volvo XC 60.
In my younger days I always wanted to own a Volvo because they looked square and rugged. I purchase vehicles every 3 years and this year I noticed a improvement in the style, and my admiration will be fulfilled.
I live in Sudbury and we do not have a Volvo dealership. The nearest dealer is in Newmarket, so I called and minutes later I spoke to Richard (sales person) and a deal was made over the phone. I also had the opportunity to speak to Stefano (Gen. Mgr.) and he was nothing but a kind and wonderful individual. Their service to date has been fantastic and I am looking forward meeting the Volvo Family. I hope our relationship will continue, as we move on in life.

Where do I start!?
I've been servicing my 1998 Volvo C70... yes she's old, but its still full of love! The service staff at Volvo take care of my baby with open arms, Mackenzie the service advisor always makes me feel comfortable leaving my old lady behind..The shuttle driver always keeps a great conversation with me and always teaches me on new things about the cars! Unfortunately my car doesn't have these features. When the time comes to purchase a new one i will defiantly be purchasing at Newmarket Volvo

We recently brought a Volvo s60 that needed some repairs. I can not say enough about the service department and the rest of the staff. The car was purchased used from a private seller and needed some repairs. Mackenzie was especially helpful and was in constant contact with me throughout the repair process. No surprise fees and everything was upfront and honest. The prices for repairs were very resonable and i would recommend them to anyone. I would definitely buy a car from this location again as I've bought one in the past and although this one was purchased privately we were given the same great service. We had a bad experience at this dealership buying a pre-owned Volvo. When we first pulled up the dealership looked beautiful in Fall colours and our test drive vehicle eagerly awaiting for us near the entrance. But that was the end of happy.

1. Our first salesperson wasn’t able to answer our questions about extended warranty in sufficient detail. Maybe not his/her fault, these are tricky topics and employees should be better trained. But technical knowledge aside this person had a serious character problem. We wanted to test drive two other cars when we were done but were told we were “only booked for 30min”. We asked to have service history ready upon our return from our one allowed test drive, but were told we can’t have it because of various excuses such as “service department closes at 12pm”, “it’s confidential”, etc. ...let the magnitude of this sink in. You’re buying an expensive car and the salesperson can’t get the vehicle service history for you (for a Volvo and you’re in a Volvo showroom). That coupled with his/her abrasiveness made us head home.
2. We then decided to try to talk to a different sales person. So we called the same day to find the service history from someone else. We were told to expect a call back and then the call back came from the original salesperson who reprimanded us for calling when he/she said they would get history for us later. He/she also laughed at me when I started asking some detailed questions insinuating that “luxury cars like volvo audio whatever don’t need/have...”. That was the final straw. I politely said I didn’t want to work with him/her.

3. For our second test drive we were fortunate to have had Chris, the parts manager answer some questions- he’s brilliant. Too good for this place.

4. Following second test drive we picked another salesperson but something weird happened, all of the paperwork continued to have the original salesperson’s name and the new rep didn’t seem at all motivated to work with us. He/she said the price wasn’t allowed to be discounted at all. So we asked to think it over on their end and please propose some kind of deal maybe with a roof rack thrown in. We never received a call back. Ever.

5. Other bad things: showroom has perfumed scent that makes you nauseous. Not all employees wore masks during Covid (one even came up to talk near us and wasn’t wearing a mask).

I hope the manager of this place puts in place some improvements. Where’s there’s a will there’s a way - all the best to you.

I was very skeptical about visiting Volvo Newmarket dealership as I had terrible experiences before at a dealership and also with a few things that come with owning a Volvo. I am so glad that I gave it another chance.

I had a fantastic experience at Newmarket dealership. We bought our car the end of April during the pandemic. Richard was the sales rep who took care of us. I really appreciated his calm and welcoming demeanor. He was polished, knowledgeable and so easy to deal with. He made us feel welcome, explained all our options and pros and cons to each and gave us enough time and space to make the decisions. Richard was very accommodating with our exceptionally hectic schedules and took the time to walk us through everything we needed to know about our new car including how to set up the setting in the car and on the app.

Shortly after, we decided that we needed the bike racks for the car. Richard was fantastic in giving us the options and his perspective and he put us in touch with Chris. Chris was phenomenal as well. He shared his experience with us. Once the bike racks arrived and I went to pick them up, he kindly offered to install them for me as well. He took the time to make sure I knew how to use them and gave a few practical tips that otherwise would have taken a while for me to figure out.

I am very pleased with the new car but also the exception team that made me feel valued and taken care of.

If I could give 0 stars, I would.

Purchased a used 2013 Equinox in September - when I went to see it, battery was dead. Got it started, then took it for a test drive.

Decided to buy it, went down 3 days later to pick up, battery dead again - got it started, then took a trip to North Bay, to charge it up.

Worked for 3 more days, then dead battery again. Took it to my local mechanic, battery replaced, to the tune of $300+

So, here's where it gets interesting. Emailed the salesman - he offers to pay me for the replacement, and asks for the invoice.

Sent it to him October 3rd. Nothing happens, so I email him November 1st, "I'll take care of this ASAP, sorry".

December - nothing

January - nothing

February, left message for GM a week ago - nothing.

So my advice? Avoid at all costs.

I recently purchased a vehicle from this location. It wasn't even a Volvo, but a Toyota Sienna that they happened to have from a trade in.

I dealt with Jim, and it was easy to coordinate and I never felt pressure or like he was playing games. He was kind and straightforward and if he didn't know something, he would ask.

Then I dealt with their Business Manager, Alex and, again, what a pleasure to work with such a quality professional. Trustworthy, honest, kind and provided a great warranty at a great price.

We visited a few times, each time with questions and taking our time and we never felt rushed. At my request, they had the vehicle ready the next day by end of day.

This review is not about any one day in particular, as I have owned the S80 I purchased from Newmarket Volvo now for 3 years. The car itself is great, and everyone who works there that I have interacted with during this time have contributed to a fantastic ownership experience. The process of actually buying the car was very low-pressure and transparent – the sales associate who worked with me, Bobbie, was very professional and answered all my questions about the car and throughout the purchasing process.

The parts counter staff, particularly Chris and Clayton, are extremely good at their jobs and possess seemingly encyclopedic levels of knowledge about any and all things Volvo. They are more than willing to help me get the right parts for my car quickly and at competitive prices. On the occasions that I have required the service department, I am greeted in a friendly manner by the service advisors Mackenzie and Mike. They make sure that any concerns of mine are promptly and professionally addressed. The technicians who work on my car are quite skillful, and to date I have never needed more than one visit to solve a problem. Also, no one who works on my car at Newmarket Volvo has ever left a mess behind – my beige interior is always as clean as when I drop the car off.

Over the time I have had this car, I feel I have had an exceptional ownership experience because of the staff at Newmarket Volvo. As my odometer continues to climb north of 300K, my car runs like a top and I know I can count on this dealership to help keep it that way.

The airbag and autostop doesn't work according to the car prompts and they are refusing to fix or replace the car. I have contacted the dealer, the lease provider, the Volvo Canada,Volvo US , even headquarter in Sweden. They don't have the fix and they have even stopped communicating with me. This is embarrassing for Volvo.

Last week was my first experience with Volvo of Newmarket. My sunroof had failed in the open position. Mike (Service) was my initial point of contact. He was knowledgeable and professional. As I don't live in the area, I had to drop it off on the Saturday. Mike told me that Matt (Sales) would put my car inside when I arrived in case it rained; until they could look at it on Monday. Matt was just as pleasant and efficient, and everything was taken care of in no time including a few questions I had had. Mike called me on Monday around noon to update me on what the service department had determined. Everything was clearly explained including a time frame of when work should be done, and even if certain repairs were necessary. I had bought my vehicle elsewhere but there was absolutely no pressure or upselling. The work I requested was done and there were no surprises. Except for how beautiful my car was when I picked it up. Someone had taken the time to wash it and shine it for me. Sign me, a very happy customer and happy Volvo owner. I had a problem with my 2006 Volvo – a number of warning lights were flashing intermittently on the dashboard display. I called Newmarket Volvo and spoke with John at the service counter. He kindly explained what was most likely to be the problem (I actually understood his explanation – I’m not a technical person but he really did good on explaning), although he said I would have to drive in so he can accurately diagnose the problem. I did make the appointment and indeed the issue was as explained. I was in and out in under an hour! – and at a price lower than quoted! And I was also made aware of a new warranty on parts for older cars like mine! Wow...Don’t know why Volvo didn’t tell me this earlier, but it works great for me! They have a lovely waiting area with a TV the size of a barn door! I really like the people, the service...and those new cars in the showroom!!! – maybe someday I’ll upgrade. For now I’m hoping to keep my car on the road for a long time. Thanks for the great service John!

Richard was a pleasure to deal with, I never felt pressured, and he made the experience very comfortable.

Like any sales experience, negotiation is a art, you have to be aware, but I don't feel at all that I was taken advantage of or exploited.
