Purchased a 2016 Subaru from Jason . Called there today looking for Tonya Ruby not in so spoke with Trevor and then Rose upset about key getting stuck in ignition so made an appointment with Rose for Thursday could not get one sooner and afraid to drive to work in case key gets stuck and then would need to get vehicle towed home. Husband drove me. Appears manufacturing defect and Subaru should have done a recall. Many others have experienced problems in United States and I am sure elsewhere. Google shows many upset customers. I had planned to buy a new Subaru nest year but now may not as some upset customers in US had to pay in excess of $400 for a manufacturer defect not a maintenance issue some received refund from US Subaru but dealer here in St. John's states not there problem no issues in Canada really what about the severity of a terrible incident such as emergency taking parent to hospital can't get key out stress of parent and key causes heart attack to Subaru owner lawsuit coming or abandons car to go inside to emergency key in ignition car stolen culprit runs over pedestrian causing fatality lawsuit against Subaru for sure

It may be a different review than what you hoped for. My review isn't a pleasant one and I might say it should also concern one of your courtesy drivers .
The close call incident was on the round about in Mount Pearl this morning , March 12, 2020 and I might add that the driver should be compelled to take a drivers test or understand that yield signs on a round about are just that....yield before you proceed, not drive through, which he did do and it became a near miss . To see the driver in the mirror having a laugh about the near miss.....get him tested.
If he had passengers , I would be concerned as an owner.

Again the service department has fallen on its face. 8:15 drop off only gets looked at by 4:00PM. Now they need the car overnight. This is the 3rd instance of the service team not clearly explaining how long things might/would take. Avoid Capital Subaru service. Take you vehicle anywhere else.

This review is based only on my experience with the service department. When I purchased my vehicle there is was a great experience from great staff. But I've had issues when bringing my car in to the service department for a loud noise it has been making. Twice I brought it in, and twice they said they "fixed it", but it's still making the same noise. If they don't know what the noise is, I wish they would just say so instead of "fixing it" and charging me for god know what they did.

My sales agent Jason was really good although there is room for improvement with regards to having buyers wait. What I mean is that if I am the customer during a specific time, then I should have full attention during that specific time. Unfortunately, there were interruptions during the meeting and I would assume it was because there are clients being entertained at the same time as I am being entertained.
My issue however is with the deposit that I paid. I clearly asked Jason that if I pay the $500 reservation fee for a Crosstrek that I would get it back if i change my mind. He said, yes, i will get my $500 back if I change my mind although he said he is hoping i will not. With that in mind, I paid the $500 deposit. After months of waiting for the Crosstrek, I changed my mind and call the finance manager who handled my fee and asked her if I can get my $500 because i changed my mind. She said it does not work that way and that I will not be able to get my $500. That's not really nice for Subaru to do that to their customers. At that time, getting a Subaru was still in my mind but because of her response to me, i just lost trust with the company. I did not pursue getting the $500 anymore as that will just stress me out. But you do not do that to your customer. You will lose your customers trust if you continue doing that.

This was my first time dealing with the Subaru dealership in St John's. I had to bring my car in for servicing due to some recall issues and I had not pre-arranged for a loaner vehicle. I had not realized the work would take most of the day and I had a lot of errands to run as well as a puppy lesson to attend. They were terrific and allowed me to borrow a vehicle for the day. Customer service was second to none. I did not want to pay for the biggest check due to warranty being up in a month’s time. I was booked for the A service and later changed it to B, which my husband thought should have stayed A as I was getting my back brakes done anyway. That would have been a $100 saved at the least. I felt that the labor charge could have been a half hour less as my car wasn’t worked on until 8am and it was pulled out by 11. $358 for labor was high for that length of time. (Not sure if tax is included; also half hour of that should be covered by the recall). Compared to my last visit this one went more smoothly and the female employee went out of her way to keep us abreast of what was happening with the car. Keeping the car for 10 years so I will see how I’m treated for the next five! That will determine if I return to Honda or stay with Subaru. Have to say that 5 years without having to get the brakes done until NOW and no problems with anything has made the Forester a favorite of mine. Love driving it! Thanks Subaru for trying to improve the customer experience!

It would be impossible to overstate the degree to which I am pleased with the service I have received at Capital Subaru, St. John’s, over the years. Superlative and exceptional are two words that readily come to mind. I have ALWAYS found the staff, at all levels, to be knowledgable , efficient, friendly and fair. I am about to purchase my third vehicle, and largely because of the service I have received there over the last sixteen years, I am not even considering looking at other vehicles elsewhere. Because of my experience, family members also look to Subaru in St. John’s.

I don’t drop the five star rating lightly, but in this case, it is well deserved.

Poor communication and aggressive sales tactics used by service coordinator. Repeatedly insisted work needed to be approved "immediately or extra charges will be added" but would not email their standard Repair Quote as requested (multiple times), and would not provide the total charges for service. The last time we were there we were overcharged at the time of pickup, and so would not approve repairs without a written quote this time. I would expect to be on guard at a private mechanic but I expect a hassle-free, honest experience for the high prices charged by the dealership. I posted a Google question asking what is included in a "B Service" we are being charged for and the question was removed instead of answered online. Not recommended for any repairs which are not covered by a warranty .
