Even though we had considered to buy a used car at another dealership, Trevor, one of the salesman was so kind and friendly that we decided to purchase our car here.

As we are newcomers to Canada and we don’t have a Saskatchewan driver license yet, Trevor had offered to drive us around in order for us to have a better feel of the vehicle.

He is also very accommodating and responsive. We had done a fair bit of bargain so every time we came up with the offer, Trevor always take it into consideration and inform the finance manager so that we can make a good deal.

He is very engaging too. When we went on the test drive, we had asked Trevor several questions about life in Saskatoon and he always try to come up with the answers. He also introduce us around Saskatoon and inform us about the driving manners here.

Financing was a bit slow due to COVID and banks, but they were great with communicating that and sending us home to wait instead of keeping us there. We have bought two vehicles from SMP in the last 7 years. Had a great experience with their sales team and really appreciated the extra lengths they went to make sure we were satisfied. However, the service department has been some of worst experiences I’ve had with a business. Every time I have come in for service the price ended up being higher than quoted. The last time I came in I was told my trailer brake system was faulty and needed to be replaced but it would be under warranty with no cost to myself. I agreed to the repair based on this information. When I showed up to pick up the truck they had charged me for the repair. When I challenged the issue they tried to explain to me that I was in the wrong and somehow misunderstood. I let it go but I have now had enough of the constant phone calls, emails, and text messages I receive from them for service and trade-ins on our vehicles so I have decided to write this review. I have called in at least 4 times now and asked for them to stop calling and messaging me, sometimes 3-4 times a week. That is to the point of harassment! I have noticed a gradual decline in the service provided and unfortunately I don’t think I will be buying or obtaining service from them again in the future.

They have been five stars in the past but not as good as before. I bought a used truck from them last spring and noticed they were boasting "No Hidden Fees" on their advertising. After a deal for price was agreed upon the next day when I was signing the fiance agreement I noticed the payment was going to be higher than expected. I asked why and found out there was a documentation fee of aprox. $600. one of the largest out there. I asked why I wasn't told and the finance guy said sorry it's posted on the wall in the other office. What is their definition of a hidden fee?
The first time I plugged in the block heater this winter it didn't work which left the vehicle in operable in cold weather. They advertise a many point inspection of their used vehicles but apparently they don't bother checking block heaters. Make sure you check this yourself before the 30 day used car warranty is up. I phoned in a complaint to the salesman's associate but no one returned my call after they promised too.

Typically great service with accommodating shuttle service. Booked appointment 5 days prior and on arrival this morning there was nothing in the system about appointment. When booking, the service person over the phone seemed inattentive and just prior to hanging up could heard yelling and joking to a coworker. Not professional. Previous good experiences. They still scheduled me in but surprise my truck is not done today now. Dealt with Clint in service on arrival and he was great. Knowledgeable and seemed like he actually cared, also was a tech for many years and it shows!

I went in today for an oil change and asked them to check my back tire as it was low the day before.
I sat in the lounge for over 2 hours before they came to tell me that they found a nail in the side wall of the tire I asked them to check.
They told me it was NOT ABLE TO BE REPAIRED and I needed to purchase 2 new tires. I decided to get 4 new ones installed. They told me it would be $409/ tire, shuttled me home and told me it would be finished before noon. (The shuttle showed up at 430)
After a little research, I found the same tires for $327/ tire elsewhere.
My husband was leery and decided to go look at the tires himself once he was done work. They were definitely not expecting my husband to show up. The nail WAS NOT in the side wall at all and the tire WAS repairable- there was NO NEED for new tires at all.
SMP totally took advantage of me as a woman who was alone today. If my husband has gone in initially, I can guarantee they would have been able to fix my tire.

Back in 2015 between July 23-july 30 my 2010 Camaro ls started having misfires and a check engine light. This was back when I had just finished putting brand new spark plugs and ignition coils on my car at around 60,000 since it was idling rough. I was working for a local Gm car dealer at the time and I found the applicable technical service bulletin since I was a Gm 4th year apprentice the bulletin stated that on my engine they were known to have pourus cylinder heads which would cause the spark plugs and ignition coils to misfire due to the heads being pourus and leaking oil into the spark plug tubes.

I got the car from the dealer where I worked with 58,000. I noticed this issue when I was changing my spark plugs and ignition coils of oil inside the spark plug tubes.

So I called and booked an appointment with SMP Saskatoon and went to get my car looked at.

I even took three copies of the technical service bulletin for the issue that my car was having and I also emailed all the pictures I took of my spark plug tubes on my cylinder head for bank one of my engine to there service advisors that I was dealing with.

I only had three days of my powertrain warranty left when this started happening and it wasn’t doing it before near the end of the 5 year or 160,000km powertrain warranty was up.

So after all this SMP SASKATOON DENIED ME WARRANTY AND SAID TO MY FACE THAT THERE WASNT ANYHING WRONG WITH MY CAR NOT TO MENTION THEY DENTED THE DOOR OF MY CAR SICNE THEY OARKED IT BESIDE WHERE THE CONSTRUCTION GUYS WERE DOING CONSTRUSTION IN THE BACK WITH A WHEEL BARREL.

Besides the dents in my door that’s all they fixed.

I change my engine oil with full synthetic 5w30 engine oil since I know these engines are prone to timing chains and currently I’m still on my original set of timing chains.

I take super good care of my car and have a blast driving it.

On multiple occasions since I was denied warranty I still get a check engine light for misfire codes on the exact same cylinders in my engine.

Not even 28,000 on July 5, 2018 I get a check engine light for misfires again on the same cylinders as before but now also on cylinders 2,4,&6 on bank 2 of my engine as well as the cylinders from before on bank 1 since the heads are still pourus and leaking oil.

Due to this issue I went only 28,000 on brand new ignition coils and spark plugs.

And instead of having only one cylinder head being Pourus and oil loeaking I to my spark plug tubes I now have two cylinders heads with the same pourus issue on cylinder 1, 2, 3, 4

The only cylinders that are fine are cylinders 5 & 6

Also since this issue has been happening I’m burning oil and I’m also having to add about 2l of oil before each oil change and due to that my cylinders are very spot covered on my cat back exhaust.

There is no reason that this should be happening at all and should have been properly looked at when my car was there instead of them saying that there was nothing wrong.

So my options are go to another Camaro authorized dealer or I put a brand new engine in that has a 3 year warranty on it.

From what I experienced I wouldn’t recommend getting work done at SMP service Saskatoon.

The only people there that have helped me lots and treated me with respect are there parts department as my family has known Steve and the guys for many many years.

Other than that SMP HAS LOST MY BUSINESS FOR GOOD.

How do you explain the dam oil in the spark plug tubes then these were taken and emailed to you and i gave you a copy of the gm technical service bulletin and was still told that nothing was wrong now both my cylinder heads are in the same condition on cylinders 1, 3, 2, 4

How to do you explain where the oil is coming from. Since this wasn’t looked at i have went through 18 ignition coils before i even hit 80,000km because the oil is wrecking the could and causing misfires.

Mindful Divergence

So far my experience has been so so. I came in and was given a quote on a car - the price of the quote was reasonable and at the top end of the market price value for the car. They had agreed to about $8000 for the car. I asked them to look at possibly taking my car for a trade in and they asked what I wanted for the car... they met me where I was at and I thought we reached a fair deal... then at the time of crunching numbers the price of the car was back up to $10K+ because they gave us maybe more for my car then they wanted so they made up the difference by jacking the car price back up. So that sorta sucked. I was told the anti theft package was just included - but then they charged $350 for it and said that it’s not mentioned in the price of the car but that it’s not optional. The admin fee was $500. So just be prepared that the bottom line price won’t be what you pay in the end - there will be several other things added. Overall the speed of which the process was completed was good. The service was good and overall I am content with the deal. A bit more honesty in the process would have built trust and long term loyalty. That was not achieved. I walked away feeling it was an acceptable business transaction but not a lot more than that.

Kelly Prior is the person that I dealt with, He was friendly, great with information and showing how to use features of the car. Only questionable thing to me was after paying the amount on the 2013 Impala I purchased, I still had to pay the amount of having my old car looked at (and decided it wasn't worth fixing hence buying the Impala.) I can see if I wasn't buying a car from this dealership but with the amount spent on my new car that was a bit disappointing. Other than that everything else was great.

While the truck pretty much sells itself, the staff at SMP were very knowledgeable about their product. While this is our very first NEW truck, they were helpful in providing information to prove to us that now was the time to buy new. They understood our needs and did not try to sell us more then we needed.

It was a fun and stress free experience for us. They shared personal experiences like they have known us for years (Stan I like my steaks medium rare).

Kelly was great to work with and really work hard to get us a good deal. Plus came in on a day off the finalize the deal (showing his dedication to our happiness). Would like to see pics of his up coming fishing trip.

He started by assessing my needs in a vehicle ( as a family of 5) and explained that he thought a flex would be perfect for our family. After a test drive i was sold on the vehicle and proceeded to the finance department, where i got looked after very well. any questions I asked were answered fully, and Ben bent over backwards to accommodate me, i got so much added value including fitting a command start , airmiles and a trip for 2 to Vegas!!! Both Stan the manager and the owner of SMP personally thanked me for choosing to buy a vehicle from them, which I thought was a really nice touch. Ben has been in ouch a few times to check if all is ok ...I love my new vehicle and so do the kids!!
