Quick Look

The 2016 Toyota Prius V is back and more fuel efficient than ever. Toyota has also decided to make this model a lot sportier than they have in the past.

Full Review

The 2016 Toyota Prius V is back with a lot of improvements done to it. With these changes, the Prius V is looking like it is gaining a lot of attention from people, which is what the Prius V really needs. These changes mostly consist of improvements done to the fuel efficiency and the look. Toyota is pushing for the new 2016 Prius V to look sportier than it has in the past.

The exterior of the Prius V looks a lot different from the previous model but the structure of it still resembles what it originally looked like. Starting off with the grille, the front of the hood has taken over most of it. With the hood dropping down and covering most of the grille, it is a lot harder to visually see. However, they have still done a great job of blending the small visible grille into the headlights beside it.The headlights look a bit more modernized with it being powered by LED lighting. Under the headlights, there are the tail lights which is pretty standard as they are circular shaped. The rear view also looks very different, but in a way resembles the Nissan Leaf. The tail lights are nice and long with a rectangular shaped rear window beside it.

Taking a look at the interior of the new Prius V, it looks very futuristic, which it should since it is the next generation of driving. The interior perfectly complements the exterior look of the car. Starting off with the centre console, it seems very user-friendly as there are no buttons to operate it. It is all touch screen on the screen placed in the centre. The steering wheel is very comfortable for drivers with a lot of grip as the curves on it allow drivers to be able to comfortably hold on and not be worried about it slipping away. In terms of space, the new 2016 Toyota Prius V is very spacious and allow drivers and passengers to be able to freely move their legs. Also with a very large windshield, drivers are able to have a lot better of a view of the road.

Under the hood, Toyota uses a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine in combination with a new electric motor. The new electric motor is smaller and lighter than last year’s model. This powertrain allow the vehicle to push 73 horsepower. In terms of fuel efficiency, the Prius V has a lithium ion battery which is very fuel efficient. To be exact, it assists the car to require only about 4.7 litres for every 100 kilometres driven.

The 2016 Toyota Prius V is obviously a great choice if you are going for a car that saves you a load of money on gas. It is also a great choice for those who really care about how bad pollution is getting since this creates barely any compared to some vehicles out there. The Prius V is made for only a select amount of drivers out there.

Power and Performance:

The 2016 Toyota Prius V is powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine teamed with two electric motors and a battery pack. Combined output is 134 horsepower. Power is sent to the front wheels through a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

In our track testing, a Prius V accelerated from zero to 60 mph in 10.3 seconds, considerably slower than the Ford C-Max (8.1 seconds). The EPA rates this hybrid wagon at 42 mpg combined (44 city/40 highway), and we've found it easy to achieve these numbers in real-world driving.

Interiors and Special Features:

Inside, materials and design seem fresher and of higher quality than in the present-generation Prius, but the cabin doesn't feel appreciably larger than before, despite an increase of 2.4 inches in length and 0.6 inch in width. There still appears to be a vast, flat expanse of dashboard behind the steering wheel, and now a new, inexplicable white center console trim that Toyota would like you to think of as a fine bone china (optional, apparently).

Safety features:

The new Prius will offer modern safety technologies like forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning with steering assist, adaptive cruise control and automatic high beams.
