Quick Look

The 2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid is a great option to go for when thinking about fuel efficient vehicles. It saves a lot on gas, has a decent look to it, and surprisingly mediocre performance.

Full Review

The 2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid has a completely new design done to it with new colours available for both the interior and exterior. The changes made to this year’s model really brings out certain aspect of the hybrid a lot more than others. They also assist in the overall performance, the fuel efficiency, and the looks both inside and out. It seems that the Camry Hybrid is not suited for all drivers, but for those who it is suited for, will really appreciate the attention to detail Toyota has done.

The exterior of the hybrid looks a lot different from last year’s design and this new look really suits the purpose of this vehicle, to be the ‘new thing’ as it is made to not be the ordinary gas-powered vehicle. The grille levels perfectly with the length of the headlights and is accompanied by a silver bar in the middle. On that silver bar, the Toyota logo is placed right in the centre, resulting is a perfectly symmetrical design. The headlights have been cut down to be thinner, giving it a sleeker look and in addition are powered by LED lighting. The indents on the hood work perfectly with the Toyota logo as they are positioned in a way that draws more attention to the logo. The fog lights have a new design as they are now vertical lines underneath the headlights and beside the bottom grille.

The interior is made perfectly as it complements the exterior designs. The centre console is very user-friendly as everything is placed in a visible and clear spot so drivers don’t struggle when trying to figure out how to access certain functions or features. The console is accompanied by an LCD screen as well, which controls the audio, climate control, Bluetooth, and navigation system. The material used for the dashboard and seats isn’t the nicest but is definitely a great value-added to the vehicle as it is very comfortable and doesn’t look bad. In addition, the space Toyota has provided for both drivers and passengers is great, as there is more than enough legroom and headroom for them.

Under the hood, Toyota offers a new engine which results in a more efficient and smooth drive for drivers. The engine is a 2.5-litre four-cylinder DOHC combined with a battery pack and electric motor. It is able to produce 200 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. It has the ability to approach 100 km/h in about 7.6 seconds with the engine powering the two front wheels as standard. In terms of fuel efficiency, the Camry Hybrid requires about 5.5 litres per 100 kilometres driven on the highway and about 6.0 litres driven in the city.

The 2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid is an ideal vehicle to get if drivers are willing to take a hit on the power for lower monthly payments on refilling gas. In addition to the costs saved, the Camry Hybrid is a pretty decent-looking car which gives drivers even more of a reason to go out and try it out!

Power and Performance:

Performance of the 2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid is based on a gasoline 4-cylinder engine which is combined with a battery pack and electric motor. The engine alone is a 2.5-Liter 4-Cylinder DOHC with an output of 178 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. However 2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid is capable to deliver 200 hp of combined power which allows it to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 7.6 seconds. The power is transferred to front wheels via CVT.

Fuel economy rates are great, but, unlike you might think, there is a difference in numbers on trims. The base LE is rated at 43/39/41 mpg city/highway/combined, while top trim XLE offers lower mileage. Top trim is EPA-rated at 40/38/40 mpg.

Interiors and Special Features:

On the inside of the 2016 Toyota Camry there are also going to be quite a bit of changes. The old dull interior is going to be redesigned in something a lot livelier that is certainly going to impress its buyers. The base model will now feature a dual zone automatic climate control system which was previously an option as well as a new infotainment system which is going to have its own app ecosystem.
