Quick Look

The 2016 Toyota 4Runner stands intimidatingly on the road while providing a variety of modifications for an improved driving experience. The exterior profile receives some moderate changes, sporting a sturdier body and a restyled front fascia. Likewise, the interior cabin boasts immense space across two or three rows of seats, as well as an updated version of Toyota’s Entune system, which bundles convenient features like infotainment, navigation, Bluetooth connectivity and smartphone integration. This vehicle has a towing capacity of 4700 pounds, and is powered by a 4.0-litre V6 engine that delivers 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque. Clearly, this good-looking SUV is incredibly capable and effortlessly fills your rugged needs with power, utility and more than enough space.

Full Review

The 2016 Toyota 4Runner is an all-around fantastic mid-size SUV, featuring a refined outer profile, relaxing interior cabin and sharp engine performance. It’s quite easy to manoeuvre, holding a rugged stance on the road and hosting tons of features that improve your driving experience with capability and ease-of-use. While the cabin is comfortable and immensely spacious, the engine lineup boasts power and towing capacity for optimal driving. As it stands, the 2016 Toyota 4Runner boasts overall utility and handles any job in rough terrain.

On the outside, the 2016 Toyota 4Runner sports a sturdier and stronger frame to round out the outer profile with outstanding off-road capability. The overall sheet metal hosts an array of straight lines and squared off corners, resulting in an especially dominating presence on the road. The front fascia is most notably restyled to take on more of an intimidating look, now featuring a large grille with integrated fog-lights and projector beam headlights. LED taillights and a restyled bumper further bring the back end into the cohesive finish.

The new 4Runner comfortably seats up to five passengers in its large and spacious interior cabin, while hosting a variety of features for maximum comfort and assistance. Widened seats are lined with available perforated leather or standard cloth material, and are further shaped for improved lateral support while providing great room for passengers. Additionally available on higher trims is a third row with two seats, but it comes with limited legroom and headroom. Though the cabin as a whole feels traditional, it’s undoubtedly been refined throughout the years and features some fresh new details to give you a comfortable driving environment for you to tackle the off-road terrain.

The vehicle is evidently geared towards functionality and utility, but nonetheless incorporates many features for your leisure. Embedded in the center stack is a 6.1-inch touchscreen display that hosts the Entune Audio Plus system, which is essentially a sound/connectivity package that includes satellite radio, iPod and Bluetooth connectivity and smartphone integration with access to mobile applications like Pandora and Bing. The vehicle also comes with a 15-speaker JBL premium audio system and a rear view camera for backup assistance.

Performance wise, the 2016 Toyota 4Runner offers a great engine for towing and capability. Under the hood is a 4.0-litre V6 engine that delivers 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque. This unit is paired with five-speed ECT automatic transmission and can come with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. We suggest the 4x4 option though, precisely because it’s more fun to drive. This unit in particular is rated at 16.6 litres per 100 kilometres city and 13.5 litres per 100 kilometres highway. Altogether, the vehicle has a massive towing capacity of 4,700-pounds.

Standard safety features include antilock brakes and stability and traction control, while front and rear parking sensors are also available. There’s also a convenient Safety Connect system available that gives you a stolen vehicle locater, emergency assistance and automatic collision notifications.

As it stands, the 2016 Toyota 4Runner has appearances and engine performance covered with complete refinement. Look no further than this mid-size SUV if you’re looking for a vehicle with easier towing and off-road handling.
