Quick Look

The 2016 Infiniti Q50 combines an elegantly designed exterior profile with an incredibly comfortable interior cabin that carries over relatively unchanged from last years model. Minor modifications have been made to the front end’s grille and headlights, while the interior keeps its upscale leather upholstery and receives an updated infotainment system, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity. Despite the lack of changes, the vehicle appears to be revitalized with energy from the mid-cycle upgrade and channels this power throughout its engine lineup, consisting of two V6 engines. The second unit interestingly comes as a Hybrid option that boasts fuel efficiency and speed. This 3.5-litre V6 is paired with an electric motor and produces 360 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, offering a fuel economy of 10.5 litres per 100 kilometres city and 9.1 litres per 100 kilometres highway on all-wheel drive. This luxury sedan is overall excellent to drive and an absolute pleasure to ride in.

Full Review

The 2016 Infiniti Q50 is an incredibly attractive and comfortable luxury vehicle for the upscale driver with an appreciation for the finer things. The vehicles exterior is refined with slight modifications to the front end, while the interior is largely kept the same with upgraded technical features. Most importantly, however, is the hybrid option on the engine lineup with delivers superb fuel economy. This sedan is truly an enjoyable ride, packed with all the comforts and luxuries that you could ask for.

The new Infiniti Q50 carries over relatively unchanged and seems almost identical to last years model. Granted, the exterior profile of this luxury sedan was pretty much perfect as it was, so there was no need for a redesign. Its body already boasts a combination of aggressive and smooth styling with an elegant intersection of exaggerated curves and surfaces, as well as all LED lighting. Features that have been kept include the crescent-cut C-pillar, deep body portion, asymmetrical cabin structure and three-dimensional double-arch grille. However, some slight changes have been made – you just might have to look closer to find them. Most modifications are made to the front end of the Q50, such as a minimally modified grille, bumper, headlights and taillights. The result is the same classic Infiniti profile, slightly refined to look even more attractive.

On the inside you’ll find an identical cabin as well, exhibiting a polished interior intended for grandeur. A high degree of comfort and luxury is evidenced throughout the cabin with high quality leather and a meticulously designed center console for ultimate convenience and usability. High-tech functions are abundant in the Q50 and are mostly found on the console-embedded dual touchscreen input that carries over from last year. This high-resolution display contains an updated infotainment system, navigation, Bluetooth and WiFi capability – all designed to improve your driving experience and make your life easier. However, the system is confusing and lacks in responsiveness. Vehicle governance is further cordoned off on the center console with an arc running down the element to separate driver controls, resulting in an asymmetrical division for a sportier quality. The Q50’s interior clearly presents a sweeping and definitely comfortable theme that runs throughout both cabins.

Under the hood, the 2016 Infiniti Q50 feels responsive and balanced with an engine lineup that is both powerful and efficient, for the most part. The standard engine is a 3.7-litre V6 that produces 328 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque, while offering 14.9 litres per 100 kilometres city and 10.5 litres per 100 kilometres highway on all-wheel drive. The Q50 hybrid, however, receives power from a 3.5 litre V6 that is paired with an electric motor fed by a lithium-ion battery. This unit produces 360 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, and offers a great fuel economy of 10.5 litres per 100 kilometres city and 9.1 litres per 100 kilometres highway on all-wheel drive. Seven-speed automatic transmission is standard across both engines, and also features rev matching and manual shift mode.

Standard safety features on all models include antilock brakes, stability and traction control, a rear view camera and the Infiniti Connection telematics service with roadside assistance, automatic collision notification, stolen vehicle reporting and remote door unlocking. Available safety features include a multi-view camera system, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, active lane control and a world-first system called Predictive Forward Collision Warning that warns the driver of risks beyond what is in their field of vision. The Q50 is loaded with a long list of safety features, undoubtedly increasing protection for both driver and passengers.

As it stands, the 2016 Infiniti Q50 is one of the best looking luxury sedans around, so attractive that they barely made any changes to its appearance. Lined with an incredibly comfortable interior and an array of features, this vehicle is sure to please the luxury driver.

Power and Performance:

Two drivetrains are available for the 2015 Infiniti Q50. Standard is a 328-horsepower 3.7-liter V6, which features sophisticated technology designed to help increase power without hurting fuel economy. If you're looking to save more fuel and increase your power at the same time – once an impossible task – the Q50 Hybrid uses combines a 3.5-liter V6 engine with an electric motor for a total of 360 horsepower. Both models are available with all-wheel drive, and both send power to their wheels through a 7-speed automatic transmission that features rev matching and manual shift mode.

Interiors and Special Features:

The cabin of this luxurious sedan will stay the identical. Just like in the current model it might be characterized by incredibly elegant look, high degree of comfort and lots of hi-tech functions. Infotainment system, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and comparable stuff are envisioned to become updated.

Safety features:

The Q50 has a veritable mother lode long list of available active-safety features. Lane Departure Warning and Prevention, Blind-Spot Intervention, and an Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection are all among the —in a less scolding way than the systems of just a few years ago. Of note is something called Predictive Forward Collision Warning, a world-first system that warns the driver of risks far ahead of what he/she might otherwise see—by using sensing the second vehicle ahead, and warning the driver visually and audibly, while also tightening the seatbelt.
