Quick Look

The 2016 Honda Odyssey is getting a major change in its appearance. This new redesign enhances the minivan to look a lot more futuristic.

Full Review

The 2016 Honda Odyssey is another one of Honda’s favourites as it is one of the bestselling minivans on the market. With the reliability the Odyssey has been providing for drivers since Honda launched the model in 2011, drivers now trust the brand and model so whenever they launch a new update, they know for a fact that it will be better in every aspect they are looking for.

The exterior has gotten a lot of redesigning done to it as Honda is clearly going for a completely new look now. The grille has gotten a lot larger with a whole new design done to the silver bar holding the Honda logo. It is a lot thicker causing it to be the same length as the headlights which helps it blend right in. The grille takes up the entire front end of the vehicle causing it to look a bit scary at first glance. The headlights are thin and very different. They are designed with 4 rectangular shapes that power the lights with LED lighting. Below the headlights are the fog lights which now looks like a bright gash in the minivan. They suit the overall front view of the car as all aspects of it blend in perfectly with each other. The rear end of the vehicle has also been redesigned with the taillights resembling the headlight’s design.

The interior of the 2016 Honda Odyssey is just as nice as the exterior as they have done a great job in throwing in a bunch of upgrades inside as well. The centre console is very user-friendly and clearly visible for the driver since it faces directly up and towards the driver. It is able to control all functions necessary for the driver while driving like the audio, Bluetooth, climate control, and navigation system. With a smaller compartment between the two front-seats, the front row feels and looks very open and spacious. Also, even though this extra space is at the front, the passengers in the second row can reap the benefits of it by stretching out their legs on top of it. The material used for the seats and dashboard are top notch as they are nice looking and comfortable. The Odyssey’s interior is the ideal vehicle to take on road trips with the family.

Under the hood, the Odyssey uses a 3.5-litre V6 engine which is able to produce 290 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. The engine is powered by the 9-speed automatic transmission that debuted in the 2015 Acura TLX Sedan.

The 2016 Honda Odyssey is an overall great minivan and perfectly made for larger families. It is great how Honda has capitalized on all the features families find important when deciding on their car, like the safety features, the smooth performance, and the modern looks. The Odyssey is appreciated by many drivers, and that is only the case because of its stellar performance, which is why so many drivers out there trust in Honda and the Odyssey.

Power and Performance:

The 2016 Odyssey isn't flat-out quick, but it feels plenty fast for this kind of vehicle; it takes about 8.8 seconds to get to 60 mph; that's in the same league as other minivans, while in handling and general responsiveness we think the Odyssey is one of the better picks in its class.

The Odyssey, overall, has a set of carlike attributes extending to its driving dynamics; altogether, it inspires confidence when it's time to brake, turn, accelerate, change lanes, or stop.

Interiors and Special Features:

As far as the design goes, Honda managed to add a little visual interest to this box on wheels with the last redesign of the Odyssey, including the “lightning bolt” detail along the side.

That latter feature can be a bit controversial to onlookers but affords great outward vision for rear passengers. And it speaks of how the entire design balances one-box practicality with a good sense of style. Honda at least tried in this latest generation, using careful applications of chrome, expensive-looking lighting elements, and a unique profile to differentiate it from the rest of the minivan crowd.

Safety features:

The 2016 Honda Odyssey keeps with its safety-minded family mission and offers up some impressive occupant safety, only missing a perfect score because its set of active-safety features hasn't been updated in this rapidly evolving market.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gives it five stars overall, with a sole four-star rating for rollover resistance.
