The quiet cabin is built with premium materials and features an array of technological components that work to ease the drive while engaging and assisting your vehicle as well. Competing against the Chevrolet Malibu and Nissan Altima, the new Accord is a definite contender with style, comfort and power as its biggest assets.

On the outside, the new Honda Accord sedan definitely exhibits a meaner, more aggressive demeanour with a restyled front fascia that is exceptionally edgy and modern. The vehicles front-end comes outfitted with redesigned headlights that seem more akin to Acura models but are nonetheless incredibly attractive, as well as a bigger grille and reshaped bumper for a truly intimidating look. New LED taillights further adorn the back-end, and are connected by a sleek strip of chrome trim for an elegant finish. Altogether, this year’s upgrade culminates in a polished and incredibly attractive exterior profile that is sure to please fans of the Accord.

The vehicle’s interior is clearly designed with luxury and modernity in mind, featuring an array of components for your improved driving experience. Covered in cloth or leather upholstery and lined with premium trims and materials, the new Accord feels spaciously upscale as a new facet of Honda’s futuristic design for newer models. The instrument panel featured on the dashboard is lowered and pushed as far forward and out at the corners to maximize space, while controls are surprisingly easy to reach and functional. This quiet cabin, aided with Active Noise Cancellation, features heated seats that are both supportive and comfortable.

For tech-enthusiasts, the new Honda Accord includes an array of features designed to improve and engage your driving experience. The sedan is outfitted with a standard Multi-Information Display on an 8-inch touchscreen, which collectively manages phone calls, text messages and emails on a full-colour, interactive and customizable display. The system likewise features Bluetooth connectivity and displays important driver information such as fuel-efficiency, trip range and audio/phone information. A rear view camera is also standard on the sedan, while navigation capability is optional on higher trims. New in the 2016 model is Apple CarPlay and AndroidAuto capability for smartphone integration.

Performance wise, the new Accord carries over two engines from the outgoing model which are both decently powerful and smooth-handling. Both engines are equipped with Honda’s exclusive Earth Dreams powertrain technology which works to improve fuel-efficiency, acceleration and responsiveness for an overall smooth and fun-to-drive experience. On the entry-level model is a 2.4-litre Earth Dreams four-cylinder engine, delivering 185 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque on a standard six-speed manual transmission. Available on higher trims, however, is the more powerful 3.5-litre V6 engine that produces 278 horsepower and 252 pound-feet of torque on a standard six-speed automatic transmission.

The system effectively bundles a ton of safety provisions for enhanced protection throughout your vehicle. Features include a collision mitigation system, forward collision warning, lane-keeping assist, road departure warning and adaptive cruise control.

Power and Performance:

There are no mechanical modifications to report for the next model year and both of the Accord’s engines are carried over from the outgoing model. Entry-level models ship with a direct-injected 2.4-liter Earth Dreams four-cylinder engine that makes 185 horsepower and 181 foot-pounds of torque, while more expensive trims can be ordered with a 3.5-liter V6 rated at 278 horsepower and 252 foot-pounds of torque. The four-cylinder comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission, and buyers looking to go clutch-less can order a CVT at an extra cost. The V6, on the other hand, can only be linked to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Interiors and Special Features:

Step into the latest Honda Accord, and its 5-passenger cabin will feel familiar yet sophisticated. The familiar part comes from its roominess, excellent outward vision and easy-to-reach controls. Among the nicer touches is a standard 8-inch screen that sits prominently in the dash to relay audio, phone and navigation information. EX-L models and higher have a secondary screen for touch-operated audio and Bluetooth wireless streaming. The front seats are supportive and comfortable. Rear seats in the sedan are roomy for two adults (three in a pinch) and – not surprisingly – tighter in the coupe.

Safety features:

The 2016 Accord's biggest story is the wide availability of Honda Sensing, the automaker's suite of active safety technologies. Available on every trim, it includes Honda's Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), which can apply the brakes to reduce the impact of hitting a detected obstacle, road departure mitigation with lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control.
