Full Review

The 2016 Dodge Dart is a great all-around car for efficient and everyday driving. Both spacious and stylish, Dodge manages to strike a balance between an interior comforts and outward attraction in order to provide occupants with the best driving experience. Equipped with numerous exterior features to improve aerodynamic control and an energetic engine lineup, this vehicle clearly values both performance and style above all else. Evidenced throughout the Dodge’s core is also a clear appreciation for relaxed driving and technological capability. The new Dodge Dart is a great all-around vehicle for everyday driving.

The new Dodge Dart feels incredibly energetic and muscular as a result of this year’s slight redesign to the exterior profile. A fresh aerodynamic design adds components like active grille shutters which reduce drag and a rear diffuser for better air intake. Likewise, the crosshair grille, taillights and bumpers have been modified as well. Overall, however, most changes have been made in terms of structure enhancements, resulting in a vehicle that feels solid and protective. This compact sedan now swiftly cruises at optimal speeds without aerodynamic resistance.

On the inside, a spaciously comfortable interior cabin is lined with premium materials for an overall relaxed driving experience. Soft-touch surfaces can be found throughout the core are especially highlighted on the dashboard, door panels and center console. Seats are likewise covered in attractive and durable cloth upholstery or leather in higher trims, creating cabin that is both comfortable and elegant. Dodge has also paid close attention to storage by incorporating a large glove box and an extra compartment under the front passenger seat. Up front, the new Dodge Dart is outfitted with loads of technological features hosted by a larger and slightly redesigned dashboard and center console, which are slightly more driver-oriented than previous models. These features include, but are not limited to navigation, trip info, climate control, music, infotainment and WiFi connectivity, which can all be found on an 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen display.

The 2016 Dodge Dart receives unchanged performance across three engine lineups, each paired with different models. The Dart SE receives a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine and produces 160 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque while delivering a fuel economy of 11.3 litres per 100 kilometres city and 7.8 litres per 100 kilometres highway. On the Dart Aera is the equally powerful 1.4-litre four-cylinder engine producing 160 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. This unit is rated at 10.1 litres per 100 kilometres city and 6.9 litres per 100 kilometres highway. Most impressive, however, is the 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine on SXT, Limited and GT models. This unit produces a mighty 184 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque, while delivering 12.3 litres per 100 kilometres city and 8.1 litres per 100 kilometres highway. Safety is likewise a huge concern for Dodge vehicles, so Dart models are equipped with traction control, stability control and anti-lock brakes with brake assist for maximum protection against collision or unsafe driving conditions.

As it stands, the 2016 Dodge Dart is impressively energetic and provides a comfortable interior for everyday driving. If you’re looking for an all-around vehicle with exceptional utility, this vehicle might be the best fit.

Power and Performance:

Engine wise, the 2016 Dodge Dart is going to feature 3 different engines with the SRT model going for a completely new powertrain. It seems that the 3 engines found in the current generation will remain unchanged, with the 2.0-liter aspirated inline-4 as the base engine. Further up the range, there will be available a 1.4-liter turbocharged inline-4 and a 2.4-liter aspirated inline-4. All of these engines are going to make use of Dodge’s new 9-speed automatic transmission which has been used for some time on other models in their range. The Dodge Dart 2016 SRT on the other hand is most likely going to receive a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 for up to 280 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque which would make it just as powerful as the latest Golf R.

Interiors and Special Features:

The basic cloth upholstery is attractive and looks durable. Leather is standard in the top-of-the line Limited model (perforated in the GT). The seats are long-haul comfortable, with enough lateral support to feel sporty. Like all sedans, the cabin is rated for five occupants; and like all of them, the center rear position will accommodate an adult occupant about as far as the end of the driveway before complaints begin to fill the air. There's not enough shoulder room for three adults in the back seat, but it's okay for two adults for short distances. Thoughtful storage touches: a glovebox big enough to swallow a laptop computer, and a bin under the right front passenger seat, accessed by folding the seat cushion forward.

Safety features:

Every 2015 Dart comes standard with ten airbags, along with the usual suite of electronic safety systems, while blind-spot alert and cross-traffic detection are both available, though rarely seen in the compact segment. Outward visibility is admirable--something that's far from normal in these days of strengthened roofs for rollover safety—thanks in part to the triangular third side window.
