Quick Look

The 2016 Dodge Challenger definitely appeals to the modern performance-oriented driver by combining great power with genuine comfort to achieve a balance between the traditional and modern. This retro-styled muscle car takes on an old-fashioned feel with hard lines, low stance and an overall dominating presence on the road. The inside, however, boasts indulgently comfortable interiors with a variety of technological capabilities available from Dodge’s seven-inch Uconnect touchscreen display. There is no shortage of style and comfort within this vehicle. Even more compelling is the powerful supercharged 6.2-litre V8 engine that produces an almighty 600 horsepower, making it the performance champion of the 2016 muscle cars. The 2016 Dodge Challenger is loaded from all aspects and overall hits the mark in exteriors, interiors and performance.

Full Review

The 2016 Dodge Challenger is relentlessly powerful and outfitted with the most premium materials and components in order to strike a delicate balance between old-fashioned nuance and contemporary feel. Equipped with numerous exterior features to improve outward appearance and an incredibly energetic V8 engine, this vehicle clearly values both performance and style above all else and expertly combines its athleticism with refined comfort and leisure. Evidenced throughout the vehicle’s core is a clear appreciation for modern capability despite its old-fashioned appearance. The new Challenger seems to meld these seemingly opposing objectives into one beautifully dynamic muscle car, arguably the most powerful in its class.

The new Dodge Challenger features a retro style with a modern, almost futuristic soul in order to produce a truly impressive muscle car, known for its hard lines and old-fashioned edge. The 2016 model shares many similarities with its 1971 predecessor, featuring a slimmer split grille and low front end, with redesigned headlights and taillights for much better visibility. Additional modifications are also made to bumpers, as well as an updated hood, more pronounced quarter panels, and a slightly wider fender. Though the 2016 Challenger is largely a carry over model, Dodge has generously equipped the vehicle with significant upgrades to its exterior profile. Its aggressive stance and intimidating presence on the road is still as prominent as it ever was, making the Challenger one of the most outwardly dominating vehicles around.

Its retro look is impressively maintained on the outside, but the vehicle undergoes a huge redesign on the inside to make it much more comfortable and modern for the dynamic driver. Its Alcantara leather-coated interior is finely upholstered and provides a luxurious driving environment for all occupants. This vehicle is capable of seating five, however comfort reigns in the front cabin – as is normal for muscle cars. Up front, the new Challenger is outfitted with loads of technological features hosted by a redesigned dashboard and center console, which are slightly more driver-oriented than previous models. These features include, but are not limited to navigation, trip info, climate control, music, infotainment and WiFi connectivity, which can all be found on Dodge’s 7-inch or 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen display.

Engine performance varies across models, with its most aggressive powertrain found in the Challenger’s SRT model. This supercharged 6.2-litre V8 engine produces an almighty 600 horsepower, making it the performance champion of 2016 muscle cars. However, there are other engine options available, with the Challenger’s base model using a 3.6-litre V6 Pentastar engine and producing 305 horsepower and 268 pound-feet of torque, and the second unit offering a 5.7-litre V8 that outputs 375 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. All options can be paired with eight-speed automatic transmission or six-speed manual transmission. This handsome vehicle is paired with a seriously energetic engine and undoubtedly embodies the most powerful in muscle cars. With a variety of engine options available, each driver is satisfied no matter which powertrain you choose.

Though the Dodge Challenger is hardly a car that prioritizes safety, there is no shortage of features that will keep both driver and passengers protected and snug. All passive and active safety features you would expect to find in the average modern vehicle are in the Challenger, including anti-lock brakes, brake assist, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, and a rear view camera system, among a plethora of additional features available to you. Safety might not be a priority, but Dodge still provides an extensive suite of provisions to accompany the responsible driver.

All in all, the 2016 Dodge Challenger is equipped with an insanely powerful engine to go along with its old-fashioned body that brings us back to the 1970’s. With a classic exterior profile and a truly polished interior cabin, this is the perfect modern take on a retro vehicle.
