Full Review

The 2015 GMC Sierra 2500HD offers a number of interior and exterior upgrades that drastically improve both the style and function of this truck. Originally produced in 1999, the GMC Sierra is now in its third generation. It comes in four trim levels that will all alter the level of luxury that this truck gives. Whether it is being used as a basic work truck or a plush six-passenger towong vehicle, the GMC Sierra 2500HD remains a great option for drivers and passengers alike.

The exterior of the GMC Sierra 2500HD received a huge upgrade for the 2015 model. Now with bigger and bolder styling, the Sierra HD has set itself apart from its counterpart, the Chevrolet Silverado. A more prominent grille has been added to the front end of this truck. It has large openings in-between bars to allow for a lot of air to come in and cool the powertrain – a perfect display of the marriage between style and function. Standard exterior features are highly dependent on what trim level buyers go with, but the 2500HD buyers are guaranteed 17-inch steel wheels, LED headlights and a chrome bumper. Top-of-the-line standard features include more chrome accents, chrome sidesteps, a spray-in bedliner and 20-inch alloy wheels. This new bold and aerodynamic design improves the look of this truck and sets it apart from the competition.

The cabin of the Sierra 2500HD also saw some major upgrades for the 2015 model. The much-needed overhaul has improved both style and function for the interior of this truck. The truck features an attractive design that is built with high-quality materials. The all-new upright instrument cluster features large easy-to-use rubberized knobs that are lit by ambient lighting for easy access even in the dark. The cabin of the Sierra 2500HD is spacious no matter what trim level buyers go with, and both front- and rear-seat passengers are treated to sizeable, supportive and comfortable seats. Standard features in the base trim include a vinyl or cloth upholstery and rubber floor covering. The top-of-the-line Denali model features leather upholstery and a heated tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. Optional features include the Z71 Off-Road package, which will upgrade capability and add unique styling tweaks. The cabin of the truck, whether for working or travelling, offers a comfortable and supportive ride.

The GMC Sierra 2500HD sits amongst a lot of tough competition when it comes to work trucks. A great feature about this one in particular is how customizable it can be.

This truck covers a range of necessities. Whether you plan to use it as your everyday work truck or exclusive people hauler, there are several configurations that allow the 2500HD to do the job. New this year is the double cab body style, which slots nicely between the Regular cab and Crew cab. All three are available with standard or extended boxes. The double cab features two rows of three-passenger bench seats to accommodate up to six people. The front and rear doors open independently from each other, replacing the need to open the front door before the rear one, which is a nice upgrade. The EZ Lift-and-Lower tailgate, which is standard on all but the base model, enhances the functionality of this truck. The internal torsion bar in the tailgate reduces the effort it takes to raise and lower the tailgate. The towing capacity of this vehicle is also a great selling point for the 2500HD, which can be configured to tow the segment-leading amount of 19,600 pounds.

Powering the 2015 GMC Sierra 2500HD is a 6.0-liter V8 engine that produces 360 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. It comes standard with a six-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive, but there’s also the option for four-wheel drive. Buyers can add a bi-fuel function to this engine, which allows the truck to run on either gasoline or compressed natural gas. When operating with the compressed natural gas, the output drops to 301 horsepower and 333 pound-feet of torque. There is an optional 6.6-liter diesel V8 engine that produces 397 horsepower and 765 pound-feet of torque.

The 2015 GMC Sierra 2500HD now features all the necessities that truck lovers expect from their most trusted work partner – a solid payload, plenty of power and more style thanks to the new redesign. Although it is in an extremely competitive segment, the 2500HD is still a great versatile pickup truck option.
