Quick Look

The 2015 Chrysler 300 gets an update for the new model year that allows it to be even more focused than before. This upscale Chrysler model is big, bold and luxurious, making it an attractive option for anyone looking to make a statement on the road this year.

Full Review

The Chrysler 300 made its first big statement four years ago when it was redesigned to resemble a Bentley more than anything in the Chrysler lineup. While it’s definitely a more affordable vehicle, the Chrysler 300 is still a sight to behold. The 2015 model gets several updates, including bold exterior changes, subtle interior changes and tweaks to the existing engines. The Chrysler 300 is available in four major trim levels: Touring, Limited, 300C and 300C AWD.

The Chrysler 300 makes a big and bold statement on the road. The styling is unique enough to keep this vehicle recognizable. Changes for 2015 include an updated front end that now features slightly angled headlights, a grille that gently flows down the front and new fog lights. The wheels have also been redesigned, while the taillights now have new chrome details around the trim. All of the lights have been replaced with LEDs and the sculpting of the body has been rounded off to give the 300 a less brick-like shape. The Chrysler 300 really extenuates what it means to be a statement vehicle.

The interior of the Chrysler 300 has subtler changes than the exterior, but they are notable nonetheless. The vehicle gets new designs for the audio and climate-control buttons located at the base of the centre stack. There’s now a three-spoke steering wheel, while the new seven-inch cluster screen is now standard across all trims. The 300 also takes some cues from its younger sibling, the 200, by adopting a rotary shift knob. In addition, there are four optional interior themes that can be chosen: the Manhattan, Detroit, Sausalito and La Jolla. Each of the themes comes with unique details that set them apart within the lineup and segment as a whole. Luxurious details like Nappa leather, accent stitching and wood trims are plentiful. It should come as no surprise that there is plenty of space for passengers, given the ample proportions of this vehicle. Cargo space is average for a large sedan at 16.3 cubic feet.

There are a few different powertrains available on the Chrysler 300, depending on what trim level you opt for. The standard engine is a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 that generates 292 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and is available with a rear- or all-wheel-drive system. The sportier 300S comes with the more powerful version of the engine that produces 300 horsepower and 264 pound-feet of torque. Optional in the 300S and 300C models is the 5.7-litre HEMI V8 engine that can make 363 horsepower and 394 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive are the only options here.

Overall, the 2015 Chrysler 300 is a great vehicle for those seeking a luxury-like ride that stands out on the road. The 300 is unapologetically stylish, elegant and powerful.

Power and Performance:

Underneath the massaged exterior and interior are updated versions of the current 300’s powertrains. A 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 is standard, with 292 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard rear-wheel drive or optional all-wheel drive.

The sportier 300S model also comes with a slight V6 power bump to 300 hp and 264 lb-ft.

The real king of the 300 lineup, though, is still the 5.7-liter HEMI V8. Optional on the 300S and 300C models, the HEMI churns out 363 hp and 394 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic rear-wheel drive are mandatory.

Interiors and Special Features:

The interior also takes plenty of cues from the 200, right down to the console-mounted rotary knob shifter and seven-inch DID gauge cluster that emits an otherworldly glow.

There will also be several design packages available inspired by different cities, including Manhattan, Detroit, and Saulsalito and La Jolla, California. Each comes with its own unique combination of colors and trim materials.

The dashboard also makes room for the latest version of Chrysler’s UConnect infotainment system, available with an 8.4-inch touchscreen. Chrysler also promises “on demand” Wi-Fi, but isn’t providing any further details.

Safety features:

A few new safety features join the roster, including forward-collision warning with automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure and lane-keeping assist functions, and a 9-1-1 assistant that uses the car’s built-in data connection to dial for help in the event of a crash or at the push of a button.
