Quick Look

The Chrysler 200 has been completely redesigned for its 2015 debut, and while it isn’t too different in size, one glance shows that there have been some significant changes made. An upgraded interior, new exterior design cues, upgraded technology and safety features are just highlights of the long list of changes in this sedan.

So what’s the 2015 Chrysler 200 got going for it? Chrysler claims that the 2015 200 wears the new face of their brand. The narrow grille opening and large lower intake give the car more of an edgier personality. Also, the shape of the windows on the side somewhat mirror those of the Dodge Dart, making it sportier than ever. Altogether, the 2015 Chrysler 200 is definitely very pretty and looks like more of an upscale car. It will definitely get you a few more looks when you’re cruising down the street.

The engine inside the 2015 Chrysler 200 is a 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine which puts out 184 horsepower and 173 pound-feet of torque.  The optional engine you can upgrade to is a 3.6-litre six-cylinder engine which will pump out 295-horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. The four-cylinder returns a combined fuel economy rating of 6.72 L/100km while the six-cylinder gets 7.59 L/100km. Just a few years ago that was subcompact territory, now you get the same fuel efficiency ratings with more power.

Over the years Chrysler built a reputation for themselves that was known for building cheap interiors. Thankfully this has improved over the years with the company’s newer products receiving excellent cabins, and the 2015 Chrysler is no exception. The design is very upscale and the use of materials is very good, the fit and finish is absolutely flawless.

If you decide to get the infotainment system you get the familiar Chrysler Connect system, however this year you’ll get the next generation of the system. The advantage to this is you have 3G network connectivity directly to your car and you can even access apps such as Yelp and Pandora straight from the interface. Down below you’ll find Chrysler’s new innovative rotary-style shifter which is easy to use and has a nice, grip-like texture to make switching gears much easier.  Chrysler even incorporated an extra storage space underneath the gear-shifter between the driver and the passenger.

Once you get behind the wheel of the 2014 Chrysler 200 you’ll fall in love with the car right away. The steering wheel is thick and meaty and fits in your hands perfectly. It really gives the car a premium feel. Another thing you’ll notice, if you choose to upgrade to the V6, is how smoothly the car rides. Chrysler has done a phenomenal job at making this car extremely pleasant to drive. The throttle doesn’t rattle or make any noise when you push and it just a really responsive drive.

The 2015 Chrysler 200 is a wonderful midsize sedans that offers some amazing features at a great price. With its new improvements, the car has never looked better and is sure to get some serious attention on the market.

Power and Performance:

Power for the 2015 Chrysler 200 will be provided by either a 2.4-liter four-cylinder ‘Tigershark’ four-cylinder engine, making 184 horsepower and 173 pound-feet of torque, or a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 that makes 295 hp and 262 lb-ft here. The 200 is, like its predecessor, primarily a front-wheel-drive car, although it will offer all-wheel drive as an option on all trims except the base-level four-cylinder model. And no matter which engine, and whether you get front- or all-wheel drive, you’ll get a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Chrysler hopes that V-6, all-wheel-drive versions of the 200 will stand out for their strong performance. The American Axle–supplied all-wheel-drive system in the 200 (actually the same system as used in some versions of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee) fully disconnects from the rear wheels during relaxed driving—to help boost fuel efficiency—and it works with the transmission and draws from more than 20 separate shift maps to cater to the road/driving environment.

Interiors and Special Features:

The base 2015 Chrysler 200 LX will start at just $21,700—or $22,695 with destination—which makes it one of the most affordable mid-size sedans; and it includes air conditioning, rear heat ducts, a full-length console with sliding armrest, overhead storage, keyless entry, LED ambient interior lighting, a tilt/telescopic steering wheel, an auxiliary input back, USB connectivity, and Bluetooth connectivity. Limited models step up to alloy wheels and an audio upgrade, and they can be optioned up with packages that include dual-zone climate control, remote start, heated mirrors, a heated steering wheel, a rear backup camera, and satellite radio, among other features. Chrysler 200S models get a sportier look, plus fog lamps, heated mirrors, bigger 18-inch wheels, a sport suspension, and other upgrades, while top 200C models heap on additional features that include a garage-door opener and upgraded materials and trims—and they can be optioned with packages including HID headlamps, LED fog lamps and running lamps, ventilated front seats, real wood interior accents, and a SafetyTec package.
