Quick Look

The 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe is a new addition the lineup, which was previously populated by sedans only. The coupe offers the perfect balance of performance, style and comfort most have come expect from the brand. The 3.6-litre V6 engine found under its slick hood is not too shabby either, being able to pump out the impressive 321 horsepower. Car enthusiasts should have nothing but love for this beaut.

Full Review

The 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe continues the fine tradition of delivering excellence in just about every aspect. It provides a fine balance of performance, comfort and style. This version is a new addition by the way, since up until now, this vehicle has only been available as a sedan. So, if you’re a fan of coupes, then you just might like this one because it’s perfect for weekend getaways.

As it continues to separate itself from its sedan counterpart, the ATS Coupe has achieved a more adventurous shape and styling. It’s a more contemporary and graceful take on the sculpted look of other recent Cadillac coupes, such as the ELR and CTS Coupe. Compared to those vehicles, the roofline is a bit more standard, but there’s more of a notchback look than in the ELR model, with soft shapes and surfaces, plus a beltline that drops down at the back. It also serves a purpose in reducing visual weight, improving visibility and adding more of a traditional three-box look to differentiate itself from the ELR. The ATS Coupe is also the first model to carry the new Cadillac Crest that will start appearing on all future Cadillac vehicles.

Inside, you get an interactive centre console with a 5.7-inch, three-window instrument panel cluster display along with an eight-inch LCD touchscreen with Caddy’s all-world CUE system, which can be used for many features contained in the vehicle. Those include OnStar connectivity with built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, SiriusXM Satellite Radio with three-month trial subscription as well as Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity with voice recognition. Since this is a coupe, the front passengers get a preference, which makes the rear seats almost very cramped and tough to get into.

The 2015 ATS Coupe comes with two separate engines – a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that can produce 272 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque and a 3.6-liter V6 that can pump out 321 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. The four-cylinder has a 0-to-60 km/h time of about six seconds, while the V6 is faster by a few tenths of a second. Both engines are combined with a six-speed automatic transmission, but an optional six-speed manual is also available. Rear-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive comes as an option.

Overall, the 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe is as good as you’d expect it to be thanks to its excellent performance, sexy design and superb interior comfort. Since this is a coupe, it will not appeal to everyone, but if you already have a car for your daily trips and need a more “recreational” vehicle, then this option might suit you just fine.

Power and Performance:

The 2015 ATS will offer base, Luxury, Performance and Premium trim levels and a choice of either a turbocharged four-cylinder rated at 272 horsepower or a 3.6-liter V6 that delivers 321 hp. The four-cylinder is available with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. The V6 gets only the six-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive should be optional for either engine, but matched only to the automatic transmission.

You can get a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine in the current ATS sedan, but it won't be offered in the new coupe. Caddy could keep the engine around to make the sedan's starting price more affordable, but we wouldn't be surprised to see the anemic 202-hp engine disappear from the spec sheet altogether.

Interiors and Special Features:

As for the entire ATS lineup, wood, leather, and metal adorn the interior, with a choice of trims and accents, including optional carbon fiber pieces. Sport bucket seats in the front grip the occupants, especially the upgraded performance seats; space is good in the front, too, with width and depth even for the long-legged. The lower, more tapered roofline of the Coupe certainly will limit back-seat space—and perhaps front headroom—a bit more compared to in the sedans. Dotted around the cabin are numerous small-item storage bins, including one smartly concealed behind the CUE infotainment screen.

Safety features:

The ATS includes a full complement of eight airbags, including front knee air bags, plus an option for rear side air bags. The NHTSA grants the ATSSedan a five-star overall rating, but of course ratings might be different for the Coupe. Safety tech includes an available lane-departure warning system, adaptive cruise control, and a rearview camera. The top Driver Assist package adds Enhanced Side Blind Zone Assist for 2015.
