|Power and Performance:||While the new Corolla may have carried over the very familiar 1.8-liter twin-cam VVTi four-cylinder engine of the earlier model, it still has something new in its bag: new transmission systems. The new CVT offers a “stepped seven-speed” feature, albeit found only in the S models. The the electronically managed CVT gives the smooth feel of a traditional automatic. Those who prefer the feel of the honest-to-goodness stick will prefer the six-speed manual. This gives that very familiar feel of smooth shift strokes, something some drivers will never want to change.|
|Interiors and Special Features:||The new instrument cluster panel has different fonts for each gauge, allowing for quick and easy recognition. While the interiors are still trimmed with hard plastics, they don’t look cheap at all. Interior storage is also pretty spacious with above-average cargo capacity at 13 cubic feet of trunk space.|
|Safety features:||Safety considerations for the new Corolla is also bigger and better, with a driver and front passenger Advanced Airbag System, complete with 16 front seat-mounted side airbags for the driver and front passenger, and front and rear side curtain airbags. Additional safety measures include the new driver knee and passenger seat-cushion airbags, further proof that a better driving experience should always come with better safety features.
In whatever form the Corolla has been made, it has always proved to be a favorite for those seeking a good-priced car with premium features and performance. The 2014 Toyota Corolla is no exception.|
