The 2014 GMC Savana all-wheel drive, V8 engine cargo van has an incredible towing aptitude that can take your job from conception to conclusion in a style that is traditional and in a manner that is inspiring.

Full Review

The 2014 GMC Savana is a conventional-looking, full-size cargo van that offers almost 300 cubic feet of space for equipment, tools and other materials you may need to transport. (The standard-wheelbase version has 239 cubic feet and the long-wheelbase version has 284 cubic feet.)

In terms of enhancements, not much has changed for the Savana. It has been about two decades since the last redesign, and there does not seem to be any urgency in remodelling the van branded for its durability and dependability. If you are keen for a new style of van with comparable features and larger cargo space, consider the Nissan NV

The Savana’s interior does not present any impressive features in terms of quality, comfort or class. Known for its blue collar reputation, the vehicle is restricted to the essentials. The dashboard is rather unassuming and the plastic surfaces are sufficient enough to work with. Legroom is also limited due to the placing of the engine cowling.

The cargo van comes with a standard 16-inch wheels, 60/40-split swing-out right-side doors, full power accessories, vinyl upholstery, a/c and a trip computer. In addition, the Savana comes with two wheelbases options: the standard 1500 version comes with a 135-inch wheelbase and both the 2500 and 35000 heavy duty versions can have 155-inch wheelbase.

The Savana cargo van has six optional engines that ranges from the standard 1500 model, equipped with a 4.3-liter V6 engine that delivers 195 hp and 260 lb/feet of torque to the turbocharged 6.6-liter diesel V8 engine that can pump up to 260 hp and provide 525 lb/feet of torque. With such power, the Savana can tow up to 10,000 pounds.

The cargo van doesn’t have much in terms of safety features. Antilock brakes and stability control are the only standard included. Optional additions include side curtain airbags, a rear-view camera, rear parking sensors and OnStar emergency communications.

With the standard 1500 model, the Savana is estimated to have a 16 mpg combined fuel economy, falling short to more extravagant rivals that includes the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.

The Savana also lacks grace when it comes to drivability. The handling and steering is not the most responsive, making urban city traffic a bit challenging.

But the GMC Savana can haul and tow with the best of them and should be acknowledged for its capabilities. Some might even consider its torque to be the top of the cargo van class when equipped with the V8 engine. Those who have jobs that require constant transportation of heavy loads know that a sturdy, dependable van is as important as anything else.

The 2014 GMC Savana cargo van although is inferior to some newer models on the scene, it is still a faithful choice for those who aim to get the job done at an affordable price.

Interiors and Special Features:

Utility is what's important on the inside of a GMC Savana Cargo. The dashboard and other plastic surfaces are hard and not of especially high quality, but controls are simple and easy to use. However, legroom up front is limited by the engine cowling sticking out from the center of the dash.
