Get up-to-date and accurate information about the 2014 Acura MDX. This 6-speed sports utility vehicle offers a powerful VTEC V6 engine and luxurious interiors. Fuel economy is a big improvement over last year’s model.

The all-new 2014 Acura MDX is a strong competitor among midsize luxury crossovers. While the previous MDX models can already shake up the market with its powerful performance and fine interiors, the 2014 release offers even more to behold for the modern driver. It is smaller, lighter and more fuel efficient. Yet the reduction in size and horsepower has little effect on its ability to get you places faster and still in comfort and style. One of the highlights of the 2014 redesign is the improved center stack. The much-critiqued version last year had over 40 buttons which led to a lot of confusion for users. This year, it gets a big upgrade with a simpler 7-inch touch screen, which still addresses all of its predecessor’s functions, but with a cleaner and more modern look for the dash. Acura also took big steps to reduced engine noise and reinforced front and side windows with acoustic glass, making the drive more tranquil. Taking the best of what the model is already known for and combining it with all the big improvements for this year’s release, , the 2014 Acura MDX continues to be one of the more enjoyable crossovers to drive.

The 2014 Acura MDX is 40 mm longer that last year’s model while the wheel base is up by 70mm. It is also 38mm lower than the previous MDX and 32mm narrower. The changes in dimensions make a lighter vehicle to drive with a weight reduction of 131kg over the 2013 release. Ground clearance has also been reduced by 22mm, making it easier to get on and off the vehicle. Other plus points for this vehicle’s handsome profile are the 18-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires, heated mirrors and power liftgate. Automatic LED headlamps have replaced last year’s Xenon HID units.

Power and Performance:While the third generation MDX now has a 3.5-liter V6 engine under the hood, it offers 10 horsepower less than its predecessor. The drive is still a breeze with the SUV’s capable handling and good ride dynamics. The transmission is a 6-speed shiftable automatic. It is able to churn out 290 horsepower at 6200 rpm and a torque of 267 ft-lbs at 4500 rpm. Fuel economy has improved dramatically over last year’s model with ratings of 11.2 liters/100 km for city driving and 7.7 liters/100km on the highway.
Interiors and Special Features:Well-crafted interiors featuring simulated wood, alloy and leather trim give the 2014 Acura MDX that touch of class you wouldn’t expect from such a sporty vehicle. Its well-appointed interior is driver focused, including a leather-wrapped steering wheel and classic gauges. The Acura MDX comfortably seats 7 with a third row seat, but sacrifices cargo space that others in its class offer. With all seats in place, maximum cargo capacity is 15.8 cubic feet – relatively smaller than its competition. But with the second and third rows folded up, it can offer generous cargo space at 90.9 cubic feet. Rear legroom is reasonable with the second row seat offering an adjustment range of 5.9 inches. Accessibility of the third row is a plus given the second row slides forward with a touch of a button. It has heated 8-way power front seats with power lumbar support for the driver. Passengers can sit back and enjoy the entertainment with the 8-speaker sound system with 432 watt output, auxiliary audio and iPod integration, CD player, satellite radio, DVD player and Bluetooth capability. Meanwhile, the driver can enjoy the trip with the 2014 Acura MDX’s easy-to-use navigation system with a 7-inch touchscreen interface and an 8-inch navigation screen. Other wow factors for this cross over’s interior features include the three-zone climate control, multiview rear camera with auto dim, keyless ignition, privacy glass and remote operated sunroof.
Safety features:Dual front side-mounted airbags, driver’s knee airbag, front head restraints, 4-wheel ABS, traction control, stability system, anti-theft alarm system and tire pressure monitoring system all come standard in the 2014 Acura MDX. Overall, you shouldn’t let the reduction in power and size fool you. The more aerodynamic model trades in the size for speed and fuel efficiency. The 2014 Acura MDX is a great SUV for the modern driver.
